  1. the Atari 2600 PlusCart ist based on Robin Edwards Unocart-2600 , and the extensions of DirtyHairy's fork. The PlusCart has no SD-Card, but an ESP8266 to connect to a local WiFi Network and the Internet. The PlusCart downloads the ROM-files from an Server in the Internet called the "PlusStore". The way this is done is similar to the way the Unocart-2600 loads ROMs from the FAT filesystem on the SD-card, while the VCS is performing a waitroutine in RAM. Additionally the PlusCart has one more interesting feature. It offers internet access to the ROM Developers, these functions are called "PlusROM". In the first bytes of a PlusROM the path and the backend hostname or IP address has to be encoded (as strings both terminated by '\0'). Sending and receiving bytes to the host does not need a waitroutine in the VCS RAM! At the moment the PlusROM functions can be used at 2K, 4K, 3F, 3E and 3E+ cartridges and any standard bankswitching cartridge with or without 128 bytes of RAM (@ 1000 to 10FF) and a 'Standard' F4 Bankswitching (@ 1FF4 to 1FFB). So now all kind of online ROMs (Games, Chat Clients, Mail-Clients, Web-Browser, MMOGs, etc. ) should be possible with the Atari 2600 VCS. more info at: https://pluscart.firmaplus.de Source: https://gitlab.com/firmaplus/atari-2600-pluscart VID_20191013_033946.mp4
  2. Shadow Reflex is a frantic 4K arcade shooter that will test your reaction times, focus and stamina! The story so far... You found a strange meteorite at the border of the Solar System and decided to investigate but, entering a cave in one of its craters, you discover that the meteorite is actually an ancient alien mothership. "IT'S A TRAP!" As soon as you enter the first corridor two shiny red energy walls locks you in and Drone appears... A scan of the alien artefact reveals you that not only it has an incredible hull density but also a very thick energy shield, it will be hard to escape but there's hope: the Drone is powering the two energy walls and this means that if you destroy it the energy walls will be lowered! Controls: The joystick moves the player ship Fire button to shoot Difficulty settings: BB = normal / 100k score limit, AB = hard / 150k score limit, BA = very hard / 200k score limit, AA = extreme / 250k score limit Color setting: B/W to enable autofire Game rules: You win the game by reaching the score limit based of the difficulty setting (100k/150k/200k/250k) If you get too close to the Drone it will try to ram you and possibly destroy you in a second, move away quickly! If you are being chased by the drone you will be unable to shoot but you will also be slightly faster If your shield (bottom left bar) gets in half or less, an energy cell will appear orbiting the Drone, grab it for 1000 points extra and regenerate the current shield If you lose a shield you will lose a ship's hull (bottom right bars), you can't get them back, lose all three and it is game over! 3. I wanted to share my thoughts on the DOOM closed beta on PS4 that was up March 31st to April 3rd. They gave us two maps to play on and I was only able to get deathmatch games, but in short I loved it!
  4. During the last months I fixed a few bugs in the The!Cart CPLD logic and added a new feature to disable the The!Cart config registers when emulating foreign cartridge types. The new logic improves compatibility with existing cartridge images and prevents accidental flash corruption in case some program hits The!Cart config registers by mistake. We've tested the logic for quite some time without any issues, but now we need your help to test it on a broader variety of systems. If you know how to update the Xilinx CPLD logic via JTAG (it's the same procedure as with U1MB and incognito) here's the neccessary info: Download the beta logic (140209) from here: http://www.horus.com/~hias/thecart/logic/ If you run into issues with the beta logic, just program the original logic (131027) and you are fine again. Here are the detailled update instructions, with pictures of the PCB and the location of the JTAG pins: http://www.horus.com/~hias/thecart/jtag-update-docs/ Please report back here with your results or if you have questions. so long & thanks for your help, Hias
  5. here is a video of the 1st wave (and little of 2nd) of my Parsec 2600. https://youtu.be/Bje12dRGAeU I started out trying to make an exact copy of the TI99 Parsec and found it was a bit too much for the 2600. scrolling ground turned out to be the killer. So, I created a game inspired by with a lot of the game play of TI99 Parsec. will be looking for beta volunteers soon after I clean up some of the graphics and counters. Note: in the demo some collisions have been disabled.
  6. Anyone else playing the beta?
  7. Anyone interested in playing the Fallout 76 B.E.T.A.? I have 3 friend codes for the XBOX One version. If anyone is interested, PM me if you want one. The weekend schedule for the BETA is 5-9PM today and 2-9PM tomorrow.
