FYI, I managed to add a feature to jzintv to enable videogame cheats. I have the code working on my machine (mac). I can post the source if anyone is interested. Here's how it works: You need to enable the debugger (-d). You then provide a cheatcode using a new cmdline parameter (--cheat). The format of the cheat codes is a sequence of poke or enter debugger commands, separated by either a space or a '|' character. For example to give yourself six lives in qbert the code would be: --cheat='p $173 06'. For 255 lives on demon attack you can use: --cheat='p $181 ff' (NOTE: either use single quotes or escape the $ sign if you prefer double quotes.) You then need to map a key or controller button to a new type of event in the kbd hack file. In this case the mapping I used looks like this: TAB CHEAT1 which maps the first cheat provided on the cmdline to the TAB key. If you provide more cheat codes on the cmdline, then they will be mapped to CHEAT2, CHEAT3 ... CHEAT8. (A max of eight codes can be entered.) You then start the game as usual, and type r at the debugger prompt to get it going. Once you get low on lives, you can then just the button you mapped during gameplay and the lives will be added. (The display will not typically update the count till you die, or a full screen refresh is issued by the game.) Like I said, I have this all working and debugged on my machine, and will post the code wherever it's appropriate if people are interested. I'd appreciate someone letting me know what the official way to contribute code back to jzintv should be. Also, I added the required cmake files to get the project to build in the CLion IDE. In this screenshot you can see that I have five lives in QBert before even getting a single point. (I had to kill myself to get the screen to redraw.) Let me know what you guys think.

In the Atariage database and the internet as a whole, I see people mentioning a severe bug that requires a password to patch. Quote: Sources https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/cd32/955787-brutal-football/faqs/57269 https://atariage.com/software_hints.php?SoftwareHintID=181 Yet I cannot find any mention of what exactly the bug is anywhere.

Folks, To save me some typing, the following are cut 'n' pastes of several messages that I posted on another message forum: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Does anyone have any idea as to what "streaky" does in the PC CD DOS version of Tempest 2000? I've NEVER found or read about ANY cheats whatsoever for the DOS version of T2K throughout all of these years, but was recently browsing the executable with my trusty hex-editor (as I've done numerous times over the past two decades). In the executable is the text line "FLOSSIE WANTS TO CHEAT", and immediately following that, the following hex: 1F 14 13 12 1E 25 15 I just thought to myself, hmmm... That SURE looks like keyboard scan codes (and only JUST NOW thought that they looked like keyboard scan codes... RE: "as I've done numerous times over the past two decades" above - with age comes knowledge LOL!). Hehe, and YES indeedy, they are KB scan codes, and they spell "streaky" LOL (see linked pics)! I fired up the game, and then during gameplay typed "streaky" in. The web flashes colorfully (like when you obtain an extra life), and the female voice sound effect says "Yes!", but nothing appears to have changed (?). It MAY be just me, but gameplay seemed a bit easier after doing this, but I'm not sure (?). BTW, you can enter the "streaky" code several times, with the same results (the web flashes colorfully). Anyhow, has ANYONE ever heard of this before (and have any idea as to what it does), or have I found a totally hidden easter egg/cheat in this game that NO ONE has ever came across since the game's release in 1995 LOL (wouldn't be the first time)? Pic of DOS version TEMPEST.EXE in a hex-editor -> http://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id=16691 Pic of Keyboard scan codes -> http://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?id=16692 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- OK, I JUST figured it out! After starting a game, enter "streaky". THEN press F11 to enable the bonus level warp, or F12 to skip to the next level. Hehe, the way I figured this out... F11 and F12 are cheats for the MACINTOSH version of the game (and are NOT normal keys for the PC DOS version of the game)! Hehe, I'm thinking "YES" -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- P.S. I HAVE just now confirmed that the"streaky" cheat code ALSO works for the Interplay Windows 95 version of the game as well Note that you will need to type in the cheat code fairly quickly in order for the game to recognize it. As in the DOS version, the web flashes colorfully, and you'll hear the female voice sound effect "Yes!" if you have successfully entered the code (and the game recognizes it). P.P.S. The keyboard scan codes for the "streaky" code were sitting all by their lonesome in the Windows version executable <GRIN> (see linked pic). I just opened a box and found a piece of paper that a buddy printed up from me from way back when. It's an exploit for Carrier Command that is suppose to allow you to add missiles to you store. I don't don't have my ST set up so I can't test this (OK, I could bring up a emulator... ) but I figured someone would want to try this. I did do a quick search and didn't find a cheat/exploit/bug mentioning this and I would hate to have it lost. STEPS 1. While in the Walrus arming menu, select 9 Harbinger surface to surface missiles and put them into the AAV 2. Select the Avatar Chemical Laser and place it over the missiles. 3. Select he pd you want (ACCB, Virus Bomb, Fuel) and place it in the AAV. When you've launched the AAV, look at its weapons and you'll find you have bit missiles and lasers. On returning to the carrier, any missiles you have left will be added to your ships stores. Carry on doing this and hundreds of missiles can be yours.

Hi all, I have been online reading up about Atari 2600 cheating in emulation. More often than not, a Google search on the topic tends to bring up Bob Colbert's Cheetah. Primarily I'm looking to cheat in Adventure (mainly I would like to be able to walk through walls). Can anyone tell me whether it is possible to cheat in 2600.emu? If it's not possible to cheat in 2600.emu - should I be looking for a "hacked" Adventure ROM that has a "walk through walls" cheat already written into it? Any help/guidance/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks! Matt P

This has been bothering me for a long time, and it popped back up in my head today. Searching around, this forum seems like the best chance I have of finding someone who can help. I believe there is a level select cheat in Miner 2049er for Colecovision, but I don't recall the code to enter it. I received the code from an employee I used to badger by phone at a Toronto video game store when I was still in my single digits and I used it regularly. My recollection is that it went something like this: * or # A combination of the digits 3,4,5,6 * or # again The level number you want to start at I've tried various combinations of the above over the years without success. I decided to give DASMx and Mekaw a try today, and then realized that my knowledge of Z80 assembly and debugging tools are quite lacking. Is anyone interested in digging further to identify this cheat code?
