Someone in another thread suggested compiling a list of homebrews that do currently work on the 2600+. I thought I would start that thread. Please only list those that DO work, AND region. I have a relatively small homebrew collection, but here is what I have that works, so far (ALL are NTSC): Cannonhead Clash Galactopus Gyvolver Juno First Hunchy 2 Lead Thrust+ (NOT DC) L.E.M. Squish ‘Em Ninjish Guy in Low Res World Blinky Goes Up Conquest of Mars

After a good wait I finally got my Game Drive the other day and am mostly happy with it. I do have some observations about it's setup and usability which I'll be bringing up in my live video review of the device this Thursday, for anyone who wants to check that out. For now though I'm persevering with putting together a rom selection I'm happy with and have found compatibility so far to be hit or miss. Here's what I've found: Original commercial releases all work fine, in .jag format, if obtained from a good source. Reboot roms all work fine with the .rom extension, with the exception of 1. Other homebrew/indie games are hit or miss, whatever the extension. ST ports are also hit or miss. Pretty sure none of the skunkboard-modded roms work which I kind of expected. Several betas/protos/demos from the goodset don't work. Besides the commercial stuff, most of the roms I'm using were downloaded from threads here on Atariage, mostly from one master thread by Cyrano. From my 'master list', (a combination of commercial, homebrew and ports), here are my current non-workers and the fault I'm getting on my PAL Jaguar. RS = red screen after first jag logo screen, BS = black screenafter first jag logo screen, UFF = unknown file format that wont boot on either mode offered: 1943 - RS Aircars - RS Arkanoid ROD - BS Asteroids - BS Badlands - RS Bionic Commando - RS Brutal Sports Football - UFF Dragon Breed - RS Escape FTPOTRM - RM Flying Shark - RS Gorf 2000 - UFF JagMarble - UFF Midnight Resistance - RS Phase Zero - UFF Project One - BS Rampage - BS Rick Dangerous 2 - BS Solomon's Key - BS Star Wars Arcade - BS Stunt Car Racer - BS Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles - BS If anyone has links to working versions of these roms or any ports or homebrew known to work then I'd love it if you could share them. My only other question is on rom naming. Some roms read the naming I've manually given them on my PC for naming consistency, but many don't and I'm not sure where the Game Drive is reading them from. Made a couple of .mrq files for some games adding my naming for consistency and it's not reading it from there it seems. rom extensions also seem to show for some roms and not others? Could options not be added to change this to user preference? Auto name reading is always problematic in my eyes, editing file names is so simple on a PC after all.

I got the 32k sidecar and on most of my carts it works fine. TI Invaders however, will not play unless I remove the sidecar. Is this typical?

So apparently because of some recent patent filings, there is a possibility the PS5 could be fully backwards compatible. https://www.tweaktown.com/news/64711/ps5-patent-teases-ps1-ps2-ps3-ps4-backwards-compatibility/index.html I hope this is true, and if it is, i'll be selling my PS123 and 4. Honestly the reason I own an Xbone is because it's backwards compatible with many X box and X box 360 titles, as well as X box arcade. It's a big selling point for me. What are your thoughts?

What I mean is that when you play Atari 5200 games on the Atari 800 using a Sio2sd will all the games play just like they would on a real Atari 5200, no emulation? I'm aware that the systems are very similar but the software is built differently but once you run it will the games play natively? Like is it comparable to other backwards compatible systems like the GBA with gbc and the Ps2 with ps1 games?

Now, before I go on eBay and get the Canadian-market Flashback 9 (model no. AR3230, the one with composite RCA output and SD card slot), I need to find out which controllers she will not work with, after all I own a Wico redball stick, a few Atari CX24 (7800) sticks and also a couple of CX80 Trak-Ball controllers that I used to use with my Harmony Encore multicart through the 2600 adapter on my 5200, I need to know if these (or any others like the classic paddle or driving controllers or the video touchpad for Star Raiders) will or will not work with it. All I need is a list of compatible controllers as I already know almost all the games (650+ games on my SD card) will work on her, it's just that I am a purist who insists on using a trak-ball for Centipede, Millipede, and Missile Command among others, so am I good to go with the FB9 or should I re-acquire the Harmony Encore multicart, in which would require a ton of space for both the 5200 with the 2600 adapter and also the multicart? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atgames-Atari-Flashback-9-Classic-Gaming-Console-Black/254221214500

The Emerson Arcadia 2001 was a console that had a ton of clones (some by Emerson, some not) and a lot of these clones have different cartridge ports, same hardware though. I've tried to look at pictures to see what's compatible with what, but the pictures don't help much. Looking at these two consoles, the dust flap where the cart goes in appears to be the same size, but the pinout may be totally different. I'm looking to buy an Arcadia system, but the original, the Arcadia 2001, is just too pricey. I've seen some clones, however, go for a lot cheaper; So I'm trying to see if i can find out which clones are compatible with the American release of the Arcadia 2001, meaning they have the same cartridge pinout. Some examples of clones I would be interested in knowing about would be the Bandai Arcadia, Tryom Video Game Center, Ekusera, or any that aren't in the PAL format. If anyone has any info on this, I'd love to hear it!

I've had several people report that Stella isn't working in Windows XP. I've only been able to test in XP_ServicePack3, and then only in a virtual machine. I no longer have access to machines running WindowsXP, either in 32 or 64-bit mode. So a few questions: (a) How many of you are actually still using Stella in Windows XP. (b) Are any of you experiencing problems in Windows XP? I'm asking this mostly for modifying the webpage to list the compatible versions of Windows. There's nothing I can actually do about it, since the latest versions of Visual Studio will be phasing out support for WinXP soon.

I am messing around with a 7800 for the first time, which was handed over to me by a mechanic friend after he found it in a car he bought. It is partially functional but having some problems also. The console boots up 7800 games pretty reliably, but they are all in black and white. I have not been able to get any 2600 games to run. A couple of them for just a fraction of a second flashed their initial screens before disappearing. Are these common problems with common solutions? Are these related problems?

I noticed a lot of good games are only for sale out of the UK or Germany. Can I buy these with the assumption that they are "region free," or are they PAL and therefore not compatible with my US model 1040STe? Thanks

The question is in the title. Are PCF 554 drives compatible with 8-bit Atari systems? What I've read so far points to the drive being only compatible with the PC line, but I can't find a definitive answer.

So there is a good deal on a 1200xl locally. $60 obo complete in the box along with a basic programming cart,rf cords, and the power supply. Issue is I'm only really interested in playing games on it and I have heard that it has compatibility issues. What do you think?

So, I got Cookie Monster Munch and Alpha Beam with Ernie in a lot. It says I have to use Kids controllers to play them, but those are kinda pricy. I researched a little and found some vague information that keyboard controllers work as well.´I have a pair of those somewhere in one of my hardware boxes. So... do they work?
