  1. Hi everyone! I am attempting to play an Atari 2600 on a modern-day television. Specifically, on the LG - 77" Class CX Series OLED 4K UHD Smart webOS TV. Its specs are a little different than your average digital TV, I believe. At least different enough to not be compatible with the recommendations I see for using an upscaler. Because it's not a 60hz TV; it's 120hz. And apparently that causes...interface problems with upscalers most ppl are using. So that's fun, right? LOL.... There is also some question as to HDMI being used, tho I am not entirely clear on the reasons associated with that. This model encompasses both HDMI 2.0 as well as HDMI 2.1 (thank goodness)....which other LG OLED models do not. Apparently HDMI 2.0 is getting "phased out"....but this model, thankfully, still allows its use! Something else of note....is the "Resolution" with this model. It's listed at 2160p (not 1080p)......is that unusual? I expected it to be 1080p. And since that is double what other models I've seen list, how does that impact use of an upscaler, or even use of an Open Source Scan Converter (OSSC) in this process of getting the Atari 2600 to play (well) on this model of TV? Here are the full specs of the TV in question, the one that will be used to play the Atari 2600 on. Please let me know what should be used; the things to get and use, etc....even if they are not OSSC or an upscaler. I just want to know how to play Atari again, on a modern TV; how that gets done though eludes me. Pls forgive the n00bishness. <3 Thanks in advance for any and all help! 2. Hey All. I've been working with a well known custom PCB maker from Sudomod (Minty Pi and Gameboy Zero stuff) named Helder Silva on developing my idea of an adapter that takes the Jag's AV port and converts it to the more common Nintendo Multiout. I chose the Multiout because it carries all the audio video signals needed for composite, s-video, and even RGB all in one port. I wanted to share some footage I took last night of me playing some Jag games with an HD Retrovision component cable upscaled through an OSSC using the final version of the adapter. I recorded this footage using a $20 capture device from Amazon so it's not the highest quality and it introduced lag, which you can see me struggle with in Alien vs Predator and Cybermorph but it get's the job done! What the JAG2SNES does: Converts the Jag's AV port to the more common Multiout port. Allows you to use SNES/N64/GameCube: Composite, S-Video, RGB Scart, and HD Retrovision (what I use) cables with your Jag. What this JAG2SNES doesn't do: Upscale. You'll need a scan converter like the OSSC, Framemeister, or GBS for that. If all goes well, it should go on sale sometime today for $25 USD (plus shipping) over at Helder's website and they'll be ready to ship immediately, no waiting list and no lead time to build. They are built. I will post to the buy, sell, trade forums once it's live.
  3. Hello I just picked up a ntsj a Japanese pioneer laseractive I plugged it in and it gave the the system a big spark looked like it came from the inside. I was wondering is it ok to run this on a US outlet as the seller said he did perfectly fine? Or does anyone know of any good power converters to down the volta from 120v to 110v as I’m told US power is 120 and Japan uses 110v any help would be appreciated
  4. I'm wondering if anyone l knows a good composite (red/white/yellow) to hdmi converter, one that prevents the display from blurring as it upscales.
  5. Already covered? I tried a search, but came up negative. In the 80s, I used EPYX Fun With Art on my 800XL to create a lot of raster images. I still have them saved on floppy disk. I know I can boot a ROM of Fun With Art through emulation, and open these files in a Windows environment. Then I can just use a screen grab to get access to the bitmaps in modern software. However, I am wondering if there are any Windows-based image viewers that can open, or convert, these pics as-is. I have them saved on floppies in *.pic format. However, I am wondering if they should be renamed with the *.fwa extension. Thanks for the feedback.
  6. I noticed that it doesn't fit in the slot, so is there some kind of adapter to make it work on my NTSC Atari 2600? I'm aware of the vídeo output issue PAL games have on NTSC TVs, but I already have a solution for that.
  7. Just like the title says, I'm looking for one of these little doodads: Must include the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive Model 2 adapter plate and be in nice condition with all the white lettering intact and the dust cover hinges undamaged, and working properly of course. If anyone has one they'd like to sell I'm offering $100 USD + postage for it via PayPal, and I will pay the cost for international shipping from Europe or Australia to the United States if needed. Thanks for taking the time to view my post and just send me a PM if you have a Master System Converter II that you'd be up for selling.

  9. So I see there is no one selling a Uthernet II anywhere on the net. So I was wondering has anyone use a Ethernet to Serial box like, "https://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Ethernet-Intelligent-Communication-Converter/dp/B008BGLUHW"with an Apple //e. thx
  10. Since I have begun dabbling in programming for the Atari 2600, I have become interested in running a PAL system for testing purposes. I have one wood-grain 4-switch NTSC VCS, and there are multiple PAL VCS's for sale on eBay at reasonable prices. My main question is about displaying the signal. I obviously don't have a PAL CRT, and the only way to get one would be to pay a fortune to ship one from across the pond. Not to mention that I would need to power it with the proper voltage at 50Hz. I have heard that the Commodore 64 1080/1084 monitors will accept PAL signals, though (I think), but getting a PAL CRT is pretty much out of the question for now. I was thinking of instead getting a signal converter so I could display the picture on a NTSC CRT, something like in this video. It seems too good to be true, but could something as inexpensive as this converter be all I need? One other question. I noticed that my power supply converts from 110V 60Hz to 9v DC. If I plug a PAL system into a US wall outlet, will it work properly? Or will I need a different power supply? I would assume that both NTSC and PAL systems run at 9V, but I may be wrong.
  11. In order not to pollute the thread of Sound List Ripper with this, I've created a small utility in VB5 which converts MID files into TI-99 sound lists. It's somewhat crude, but I'm posting it anyway since there has been interest in it. I think it facilitates the development of sound lists for the TI-99 which are a nice, compact format with a player built into ROM. You can find details on its usage in the README file supplied with it. The ZIP file contains an EXE file, the source code project and the README file. Oh, sorry to say, but since it was developed in VB5, it only runs on Windows. I'm not exactly sure which versions it will run on, but I'm pretty sure it will run on Windows XP, 7 and 10. Maybe earlier versions (from 95 upward) are also OK, but I haven't tested it. Enjoy! Kurt MIDI_TO_Sound_List_0_0_1.zip

  13. Hi, as some may know, I played quite a while with the A8 graphics modes to achieve unexpected output (like http://atariage.com/forums/topic/124933-new-true-color-mode/#entry1510330 or http://atariage.com/forums/topic/134852-atari-v-commodore/page-220#entry1737525). I never liked interlace or the scan line grille of APAC, so since several years I tried to cope with the restrictions and tried various things. Finally I have a result which I find convincing. The format is nothing really new, just works like HIP without interlace and can be coloured (the profile image of member 'pirx' seems to use this principle already), but I created a converter which is very easy to use, and at least I'm not aware of a similar one. Since I haven't found any description of this format in conjunction with a name, I named it 'JAG' (Just Another Graphics-(format)). The creation process is half automatic and a conversion takes about two dozens of clicks (colour assignments), which can be performed in a minute. (I had a fully automatic process, but results are less convincing.) When compared to RastaConverter (BIG LIKE!), the only disadvantages are the lower resolution and on NTSC systems the images are not that colourful, but the advantages are: * CO2 friendly: conversion is question of minutes * no affinity to banding (but depending on mode/selection slightly scan line grille) * no use of PMGs (less memory and DMA load) (and usable in game scenarios (even with limited colour possibilities) * simple to save & load * simple code for depiction * ATM moderate DLI load: converter supports a single palette for the complete image (this is subject to change, which can improve output quality a lot - depending on the input image) * easier to use in animation scenarios (generation is more 'stable', since available colours can be distributed more freely) * more shades (currently only the obvious theoretical 144 (9*16) per image, in the future all 256) There are still bugs in the converter I need to fix (some are detectable in the images below), output has to be beautified (e.g. top colour border) and I have to write some instructions too, but hopefully next week I can release V1 (if there is demand?). Have fun and stay tuned...
  14. PC2BMP - Convert ColecoVision bitmap pictures into Microsoft 16 colors bitmap files by Daniel Bienvenu aka NewColeco January 2017 Technical information Simply put, it generates a valid BMP file, 256x192 pixels, 16 custom colors, 4 bits per pixels, according to BMP file format specifications. The color palette used here is a compromise between colors a bit washed out calculated with the TMS9928 video chip technical information and colors too saturated used on several emulators. Also, this color palette makes a distinction between transparent and black colors with its black color being slightly brighter (RGB values 8, 8, 8 for black, and 0, 0, 0 for transparent). 15. SCR2PC - Convert ZX Spectrum bitmap pictures into ColecoVision bitmap pictures by Daniel Bienvenu aka NewColeco January 2017 There are lots of cool ZX Spectrum pictures released as .scr or .mlt files and tools to make them. Technical Information ZX Spectrum bitmap screens are 256x192 pixels, same for the ColecoVision. ZX Spectrum graphics files are composed of PATTERN and COLOR data tables, same for the ColecoVision. ZX color palette is composed of 15 colors, same for the ColecoVision, but the colors are not the same. The video chip TMS9928 inside ColecoVision do not have two different magenta and two different cyan colors. ZX PATTERN and COLOR data are structured differently, bytes in a different order between them and different than how ColecoVision handles it. Considering all the similarities and differences, I've coded the following simple graphics converter tool. This converter support both .SCR and .MLT files and can generate PATTERN and COLOR data into two files instead of one .PC file. This solution is a CLI (command line interface) written in C. CV Paint 2 can load and ZX Spectrum pictures as well but is no more supported. Example ZX Spectrum Space Harrier title screen by MAC, 2014. 16. Hi, I used to collect Atari computers and PCs of similar age and I've been getting rid of most of my old collection since I've fallen out of the hobby. I really like the way the SM124 monitor I have looks though and was wondering if there was any way to connect a vga or other sort of slightly more updated video connection to it. I've found adapters online but they all seem to be so that you can use a VGA monitor with an Atari ST, I'm searching for the opposite of that basically. Any information about adapters, mods, or why what I'm asking isn't feasible or practical would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  17. Before anybody starts trolling about using CRTs over PC monitors, I just want to know if anyone on here has used a modded Atari with the Enko Composite to HDMI converter or something similar and had it work on a modern LCD/LED PC Monitor. I need to record some gameplay, so its important that I can use a PC Monitor. What I have currently is an ASUS VE247H. I know the converter works with my SNES and Sega Model 1 (but only with the 32X hooked up to it). I do not have a modded Atari though, and was wanting to know if I got mine modded, if it would work as well.
  18. Hello, I'm hoping this is the right section because I found this little interesting thing that I think is for TI computers, and I'd like a little info on it. Here's a picture... I am under the impression that this is an adapter for TI computers, and looking for a little backup on that. From what I can tell, it looks like all it does is pull some pins from each controller and route them to other pins in a different, combined configuration. Not owning a TI computer, I'm not sure it has any use to me. I might sell it, but with something this old and dirty who knows if it works. I'd appreciate any info on this thing so I can make a more educated decision, and I'd really like to know if there's any way to safely test this thing, see if it's still working. I had a thought to test it on an Atari 2600, but I wouldn't want to risk shorting anything unless I was certain it would be harmless.
  19. Hi There, I have just developed a converter for the Amiga computer. This way you can connect your Amiga to a modern monitor or TV without having to use that annoying composite / tv interface. It's not done yet, as you can see, but I am pretty far along the project. Have a look . I will update this thread when I have updates. Regards, StaringL

  21. ** UPDATE ** I DON'T HAVE ANY MORE "NTDE" BRAND CONVERTERS; BUT I MIGHT HAVE OTHER USED ONES AVAILABLE IN GENERIC BRANDS, SO JUST PING ME IN ANY CASE! THANK YOU! --------------------------------- Hi! I have some FAMICOM to NES converters for sale. (I might be getting more) They are in great condition, they look almost unused - contacts are sharp and bright. Tested in NTSC NES and famiclone - working fine. They show a little bit of storage wear. Brand is NTDE so it's not a very "cheap" item. They come boxed. Box has wear and might have some torn parts. Price for each converter is $26.99 USD. Shipping costs are $5 USD to USA and $7 USD rest of the world with the exception of Australia, Japan, Russia which is $9 USD. Item ships from Mexico - You're dealing with a honest Gamer, so don't worry. Payment is through paypal. PM me for details if interested. Thank you!!
  22. Hey everyone, This was in a lot of miscellaneous retro gaming stuff that I recently acquired, Ive never seen one and was wondering if anyone could help me identify it. It's stamped ElecronicArts and has Atari type controller ports, 4 ins and 2 outs. Thanks
  23. i'm looking for .txt (basic) to .caq tokenizers, just like zmakebas (for zx-spectrum - http://www.svgalib.org/rus/zmakebas.html ) do someone know where tools like this can be find, or which kind of documentation can be useful for us starting coding it? ( and btw, is there somewhere some ready type-in aquarius-basic snippets to test with it? )
