I recently purchased a Panasonic 1984 and a Sanyo 1990 CRT TVs on eBay and am having trouble getting either of them to activate Atari. Can anyone give me any solutions to this problem? No matter which channel I turn to, nothing responds. By the way, I have an another CRT TV with Coaxial connection to play with on channel 2, so I think I know how to use it at least. Thank you! Shinji

First time posting on this forum. Not sure where would be the 100% correct place for this question so apologizes for any mistakes. My question is what is the average price for the Sony BVM-A32E1WM (this link is not the seller I am inquiring about, just a picture of the CRT) with a BVR-15, but no 86X card for analogue input. I am not sure about the usage hours as I have not contacted the seller yet, so for the purpose of a generic estimate, average usage hours is fine. One other question is that I located a site by the name of castlemania.com or something like that name that has developed a card that can be used instead of the original 86x, if anyone has any experience or hearsay knowledge about it's reliability, that would be very useful information. I wasn't planning on buying such a high end CRT for playing old school games on the systems I have; however, it seems like it's a good deal and comes with a guarantee from the company. (It's overseas) Thanks in advance to all those that answer. Cheers, Hiyodori

First I read something somewhere about a virtual boy mod that's made that I'll let you connect a virtual Boy 2 some modern TV. Anyone know where that is? I got a couple other questions. one cannot be hooked up natively to a CRT TV in component video or RGB via SCART? Also if hooked up my HDMI is there some way to get it in 3D just like the virtual boy originally was? My TV accepts side-by-side half as a 2d compatible 3D. Also in terms of the processor are the graphics considered white monochrome and red is just the theme filter? Also I see people wondering how you stream portable video games on Twitch and mixer. This would be an answer for virtual Boy, a Nintendo has official answers for Gameboy on both Super NES and GameCube. someone was talking about a Game Gear player on the 32x cartridge where you insert the Game Gear cartridge inside the 32x cartridge. The reason why 32x is because Genesis doesn't have enough colors to accurately display game gear. and since this website is called atariage why not a Lynx player for the Jaguar? insert a lynx cartridge inside a Jaguar cartridge shell?

Well I copied a tangential comment and made it its own topic. I'll try to remove comment from original site. I noticed that light gun games are less accurate because they no longer use the screen as a reference they just use a line, the fact it's placed in the middle of the screen, and whether it's placed above the top or below the bottom of the screen, and that's all the wiimote like gun knows. they should have put the four sensors on the four corners of the screen so it could send three dimensions where the physical screen is. I notice a difference playing on a large 40in screen and a small 12in screen, with the 40 inch screed forcing you to "underaim" and a 12 inch screen forcing you to "overaim", meaning if you are perfectly in the center and a Target is 25% of the screen to the left of you under aiming is having to aim at like 10% left the center and overaiming needs you have to aim off-screen to hit your target. Don't like gun on the Wii feels more like a positional gun. If there was no crosshairs you cannot line it up very well. However true like guns that use CRT TVs have true aim you can hit those four more different positions that a wiimote gun. By the way has anyone tried Xbox Kinect gun aiming or PlayStation Move aiming? There was just one game Blue Estate, just wanted to know how the Amy was cuz I haven't had a chance to hook up a Kinect yet. Is it more true to a CRT aim or more true to a Wiimote aim?

I'm trying to make a gaming bedroom that would accommodate my brother as well as myself. One of the problems is that my brother prefers to play on my 3D TV all games. I on the other hand prefer to only play my 3D games on a 3D TV and all the other games on my low-ping VGA CRT monitor. There are a couple problems associated with it. in order to stream my game I have to have a split HDMI to both the CRT TV and the computer, and I use 3D monitor for the computer. however if both monitors are connected simultaneously the 3D signal gets negated and 3D discs don't play at all. If that's the only problem then I guess either manually pulling out the HDMI connected to the CRT or an HDMI kill switch would be better than constantly unplugging and replugging in my HDMI to CRT VGA converter. And yes I'm aware for light gun games the HDMI to CRT converter adds enough ping to throw off aim in a light gun game and the Sega Master System 3D sync. By the way, I've heard of ways of converting monitors into 3D monitors, by using an ultra frame method attached externally. do those only work when going through a PC or is there a direct 3D processor that plugs into a VGA that could do shutter scope 3D. and yes I know the master systems versions won't work because there's conversions between computer CRT timing and Sega Master System timing that'll mess it up.

Yes I was wondering how well do scart and VGA play well with each other? I've seen passive adapters that go to both or red green blue RCA not sure whether it's RGB fornat or YPbPr format. I did buy a mayflash VGA back and forth to YPbPr. If a connection between scart and VGA is pretty much passive then since I'm using a VGA monitor as a CRT, Then it should work for everything and have a short enough delay for everything except light gun games. Also I see both active and passive composites an S-Video connectors to VGA. And I do not know what is available on ntsc RF to VGA. These items on Amazon and eBay do not make it clear what the source of the video is and what the destination of the TV is. To and from could be a matter of perspective depending on which way you're starting from. I'm looking for taking S-video on Nintendo 64 and Atari Jaguar I'm putting it in the VGA TV. NES would use composite. Atari 7800 and earlier with ntsc RF. All the other systems I have either use scart RGB or ypbpr 3 RCA. So for S-Video and composite,. Do I want the active connector or the passive connector? Is there such a thing as Direct ntsc rf 2 VGA? If not I can make one extra step of tuning the ntsc using the smallest thing I could find with a tuner and 8 mm tape recorder and player with tuner built in.

I'm trying to display Atari ST on a NTSC CRT TV, via composite. The source is Raspberry Pi running Retropie/Hatari. It sort of works, but I get overscan on the horizontal (display goes over a little to the right and left) - guessing it has to do with original Atari res being different than 720p that RPi is outputting. Now, this is a common problem but on majority of other consoles and micros (especially when using composite) but it can be rectified by using variety of config tricks, shaders and suchlike. Unfortunately Atari ST is a rather niche machine (at least in RPi circles) and there is scarcity of info available. Also the hatari libretro core (these are often working nicely with CRTs) is reportedly incomplete. I'm actually just having a very similar problem with Amiga, but there I managed to sort of compromise it by using peculiar resolution (704x216)...it took many days of trial and error though. I was hoping maybe somebody here could advise what settings to choose in Hatari - there are two display-related sections (Atari & Hatari) both containing multum of settings and I'm not sure which ones could help/hinder my efforts (plus there is an option to use "no-borders" Hatari emu itself). I tried messing with them for a bit but with no real effect. EDIT: Ha...just as I posted it I've tried again and got onto something: chose both show "borders" and "fullscreen" options. This produces nicely scaled image which fits horizontal nearly perfect. But - there are borders on top and bottom. So my additional question also is, what was a real ST display like on a CRT? Were there borders or was the whole screen filled?

If anyone reasonably local (SW Scotland / Glasgow) is looking for a nice 27" CRT TV, I'll swap this one for a decent Atari joystick and an ST mouse...
