  3. About Hello everyone, I am here to share with you a project I've been following for some time. It is Elysian Shadows, a JRPG in the style of classics such as Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest with some interesting new twists to keep it fresh. It started off in development as a Dreamcast only title, but has branched out to other platforms. The Dreamcast version will have unique features that other platforms will not, such as games with the VMU among others. A kickstarter will be started this summer to help finish the development of this game. Screenshots One of the first towns in the game, Loren. A test of the new advanced lighting system. A work in progress dungeon map and tileset. A powerful custom made toolkit to match a powerful engine. Will be made available for modding and creating your own games using LibGyro, the backbone of Elysian Shadows. Follow! Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/elysianshadows Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/GyroVorbis Website: http://elysianshadows.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/elysian_shadows Thank you for your time and support! We hope that you will follow the project

  5. Hi! I'm looking for some advice on replacement Dreamcast CD cases. I have seen quite a few on Amazon that look suitable, such as - - http://www.amazon.com/Memorex-Jewel-Cases-Clear-Tray/dp/B000067VC6/ref=pd_cp_e_2 And here's some "chubby" double CD ones, which I also need http://www.amazon.com/DOUBLE-THICK-CHUBBY-JEWEL-CD2R24DG/dp/B001JPDK1G/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1333377341&sr=1-1 As those of you who collect Dreamcast know, the original cases have a certain "thickness" and "shine" to them that is hard to imitate. The double CD cases are tricky to find, too. What have fellow collectors used or who have you bought from? SQUARE DEAL there on Amazon looks ok, but . . . . The other alternative I have heard is to purchase a lot of some sports title, discard the contents, and use the cases, which I am also considering! Thanks for any advice! -a2a
  6. Is the Sega Dreamcast old enough to be considered retro gaming? I'm curious to see what you think.
  7. Hello all, I really hope this is ok to post here. So I have a weekly retro review show where I cover multiple systems, my thought was to have a show thats easy watching, light hearted with lots of daft bits and jokes, I also wanted to set the scene by talking a little about the music, films and news of the time, just to get you in the mood somewhat. I have purposely made the show waffle free and as edit free as possible to make sure its substainable, so far I am pretty happy with the result. Anybody though who has ever attempted this knows how flippin hard it is at the start, YouTube only seems to push popular channels, so getting people to even get a chance to watch a show is just so blooming hard. The result is you often get 50 views when you release a show, its to be expected at the start but you tend to hit the odd bump where it starts to bother you as you spend more time making it than people spend actually watching So it feels like you need the odd kickstart and the only way to do that is to sell your soul and pimp it for all its worth , as I am sure a song once said "pimpn aint easy". So I would like to post my latest show here and would love your thoughts, comments and all that sort of stuff, I add little improvments all the time but any suggestions would also be great. Today I released a review of Makai Prince Dorabocchan also know as Kid Dracula for the PC Engine, I love the PC Engine so added a short sexy music section to get you in the mood for what turns out to be a pretty average platformer. I could also update this thread with my latest shows as I released them if thats considered acceptable?? Thanks Simon
  8. I need the original NTSC manuals and the artwork for the back of the case. Thank you, Roger

  10. Trying to put this memory to rest: Anyone know if a red Dreamcast was made for Code Veronica in the US? I do a google every so often over the years and don't find a thing so I guess my memory fails me but I could have sworn I saw it back in the late 90's or early 2000's. If I do find something I keep thinking it's a fake. Was the black (sega sports) and white the only ones made?

  12. It appears that earlier/mid this month a Sega Dreamcast game was found in a completed state on a rare to find these days development kit from a dead studio. On there was a game that had hit the PC back in 1999, and it was called Millennium Racer Y2K Fighters. Despite the title, it's a racing game much like say Wipeout/FZero/ExtremeG in style but uniquely has a bit of a Rez/Tron thing going for it as you ride around on a neon wireframe looking speeder bike with the racer (person, not wire frame) riding on top. It has like 10 courses to start, more can unlock, and they're not exactly small nor are they lacking for multiple paths/levels to each course either so there's variety. The owner of the kit who found it being a real saint of a game lover decided to give it away for free and from that a working in an emulator (demul I know works) or as an actual ready to burn/self play disc for the Dreamcast hardware. The Dreamcast Junkyard covered it with lots of nice pictures: http://www.thedreamcastjunkyard.co.uk/2017/03/previously-unknown-dreamcast-game.html There's also a youtube on it:

  14. Hey everyone, I'm looking to downsize my collection a bit, so some stuff has to go. Figure I'd offer it up here first! I have a Dreamcast with 3 games: Shenmue, NFL 2K1, and Skies of Arcadia. It comes with one controller, a VMU, and power and A/V cables. The Console: The console itself is a little yellowed, but it plays fine. It is an early build, made in September 1999. Controller works fine, and the VMU saves but needs a new battery for out-of-the-controller activities. The games: Shenmue: CIB. Discs are in great shape. The front of the case has a hairline crack, but it's not terrible. Tested and works fine. NFL 2K1: CIB. Tested and works fine. Skies of Arcadia: Discs and booklet in non-original case. No artwork. Disc 1 has been resurfaced at some point, but seems to work fine. I've played through for a few hours on it. Disc 2 has a small nick on the edge of the disc, and may need resurfacing, as the music freezes up and/or skips (see below pic). Pics: Price: $75 shipped USPS in a large flat rate box. I accept PayPal. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!

NBA 2K for Dreamcast - SOLD NBA 2K is complete with original case and manual. The NBA 2K case has some sticker residue on the front upper right corner that could be easily removed with WD-40 or Goo-be-Gone. Disc has some minor light surface scratches but it was tested and works perfectly. Dave Mirra BMX for Dreamcast - SOLD Dave Mirra freestyle BMX is just the disc in a generic slim case. Disc has some minor light surface scratches but it was tested and works perfectly.
  17. I might have the only Dreamcast in the US that no longer has it's original modem. With the DreamPi stuff coming along nicely and several old servers being resurrected(Alien Front Online to name one), I figure now's as good a time as any to try and relieve the magic a bit. So, yeah, 56k modem. The one that came with all US Dreamcasts. I'm looking for a spare one that works.

  20. I'm looking to buy a Saturn SVIDEO cable, a Dreamcast SVIDEO cable, and a Dreamcast VGA cable. I'm not too picky; I'll take a Pelican or Performance brand; anything. If the cable sucks, I'll rip it apart and make my own from the console-side connector. Other things I may be interested in if you have them: SVIDEO/Composite to VGA converter Composite cable for Genesis/Megadrive I Composite cable for Genesis/Megadrive II
  21. Very nice transparent yellow NIB Dreamcast case on eBay UK - - eBay Auction -- Item Number: 231bb5cb29 I would be interested, but I already have my blue transparent one for my Dreamcast, and am quite pleased with it. I wonder if this is the same guy who posted this nice video "mod log" of illuminating a yellow case? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfNL0tOjqCQ The ending with the music is kinda funny . . . He's got some other good video logs, too - - check out his channel. The backlit Dreamcast VMU mod is one I have been wanting to do for a while . . . -a2a
  22. Hey, gang! So, my wife and I were recently at our local gaming store and I thought to ask if they happened to get any VA0 Dreamcasts in. I've asked a handful of times over the past couple of years, but not, like, every time I stop in. I'm not generally a system hoarder, but especially for disc-based systems, I enjoy picking up a backup console cheap, in case some belt drive konks out and I need my Rez or Border Down fix or something. Now, I wanted one because of the heartier components and I've heard that it might be easier to chip mod (though that's not really a pressing concern for me, but thinking longterm) due to the board layout. Mostly, though, I wanted one based on it's rep as "toughest, most durable revision" for longevity, not really as a hardware fetishist. Anyway, I was delighted to discover they had one in the back and I walked out with it, bare system, for about $30. Some cursory internet information over lunch (nothing official) suggested that only about the first 100,000 units were VA0, with the majority of systems being the commonly found VA1. I know there's also the VA2 that may or may not play CD-R copies, depending on what website you're reading. I crunched the numbers, and if the Dreamcast sold the generally-listed 10.1 million units, that means that less than 1% of Dreamcasts were VA0. I've also read in passing that that number may or may not include VA0 units sold in Japan. We were ASTOUNDED to read that. We tried to consider the likelihood that one of this tiny sample would end up at our local game shop and in our hands. My brain is much more wired for the "squishier" side of life, I'm not great with numbers and stats and probability. So, rather than speculate on which one is preferable (that's a different thread, I'm sure!), I'm just curious as to if anyone can cite me any sources for numbers on those revisions, sales, etc. I may not know numbers, but I like reliable sources. Most of all, we're curious as to whether that 100K estimate of VA0 models produced is roughly accurate, and if so, is there info (or can someone extrapolate the known sales numbers?) on the ratio of US vs Japan models of the VA0 revision sold? Whatever we find out, we're still amazed that one ended up in our laps. (Also, it plays CD-Rs just fine, for what that's worth.) Thanks in advance, Dreamcast experts. I have faith. If anyone knows this stuff, it's you beautiful maniacs.

  24. Sega's Dreamcast had so much potential and many great games and Hidden Gems. The Immortal John Hancock brings some of his favorite games that very few collectors know about. What games should be in Parts 2 & 3?
