  1. Would there be any possible way to save files in cassette format on any Atari 8-bit computer emulator? I looked at many various emulators such as Altirra, A8E, Atari800win plus, etc, and I can't seem to find any option on any of those for what I'm trying to do.
  2. I was trying to write a demo to floppy and kept running into errors near the end on two different 1541-IIs. In CBMXfer the status display of the copy lags behind to real location so it looked to me to be track 35. I threw in my trusty Indus GT and found the write was erroring out at track 36. I looked at the D64 of the demo and sure enough, it is roughly 190k instead of 170k. Writing a D64 requires the disk be formatted so I assume the problem is the tracks beyond 35 are not formatted. I am guessing I could copy the D64 from the SD2IEC mounted as a real disk using a copy utility like Maverick. I want to make this a little more simple. Does anyone know of a good method to format extended tracks (36-40?) While I am going to poke around the next couple of days and see what I can find I would appreciate anyone's input.
  3. Is there one particular place that you can find all of the file format descriptions for Atari 8-bit computers? If not, here can be! It'd be great if this was more of a factual thread, with less chatter but more of a place to come when you want to know a file format. This will become very useful for programmers to use as a thread. A collection of links would be fine, they don't all have to be written here. Information required is the name of the file format, what it does and then what each byte (or group of bytes) in the files describes. Examples for great formats to list are: .xex, .atr, .dcm, .g2f etc.
  4. Up for sale I got a Walkman MiniDisc player and 8 Minidiscs. I assume my fellow atariage members might be more into unusual dead formats than the average person. Check it out! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 321477454934
  5. Up for sale I got a high speed Sony Minidisc player/recorder plus 8 minidiscs (three blank and sealed!) now for just $30 shipped! eBay Auction -- Item Number: 321483112755
  6. Good morning. I've been exploring SpartaDOS X within u1mb and am really enjoying it. I've encountered my first problem though: I can't format disks. I typed in the FORMAT command, which brings up the super intuitive format menu. Whether I select SpartaDOS or Atari format, single or enhanced density, the computer crashes when it tries to verify the format. I have tried this on two different 1050s, with both the same and different disks and have experienced the same result. Both of these 1050s format with DOS 2.5 just fine. Any thoughts? Screen shot below of the SpartaDOS screen disposition once things go south. Again, it appears to format and then crashes when it tries to verify the format.
  7. Hi guys, I am having a strange problem. I have a Happy modified 1050 drive and it will no longer read/format dual density disks. I can still read disks that were formatted in single density, but that's it. This just happened out of the blue after transferrring some disks using APE. I unplugged the APE device and turned the Happy mode off and it still is doing the same thing. Any thoughts on why this is happening and how I can fix it?
  8. Hi All, I've been playing John Anderson's Rally Speedway and want to create my own tracks. I've created the a new track but I can save it Has anyone managed to to create a Trax Disk in Altirra that works. I keep getting reported "Disk Error" :-( I'm using the RS ATR from: http://ftp.pigwa.net/stuff/collections/holmes%20cd/Holmes%201/ATR%20Games/Games%20M-Z/Rally%20Speedway.atr Is there some sort of procedure to make this work in Altirra. Or am I just being plain dumb Best regards. RT PS Altirra amazing bit of software and has brought back so many fond memories of my yoof in 1983.
  9. I got a 1050 drive off eBay. The seller said it works sometimes. Usually when first powered up and then fails later. I tried formatting a diskette and get error 174 repeatedly. Are there any utilities I can download to test the drive? I have an SIO2PC-USB I can use to load things. I already used a cleaning diskette on it. I thought the next thing might be to open the case and clean things up. Especially the drive rails. Any other suggestions?
