I added an in-progress Z80 disassembly of Gorf to BallyAlley.com. You can download it here: http://www.ballyalley.com/ml/ml_source/ml_source.html#GorfArcadeDisassembly Here are some additional details about the game: Gorf, is a fixed space shooter arcade game with five different screens. Jay Fenton designed and programmed Gorf for DNA (Dave Nutting Associates). It was published by Midway in 1981. Like Wizard of War, The Adventures of Robby Roto! (and others), Gorf uses what has been dubbed the "astrocade chipset". In 2018, Jamie Fenton (formally Jay Fenton) donated documentation and hardware items to the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, CA. This included Gorf source code and other documentation related to the game. Gorf was not written in machine language, it was written in a Forth-like language called TERSE (Terse Efficient Recursive Stack Engine) that was developed at DNA. After the TERSE source code for Gorf became available, David Turner, an avid fan of the game, began to use the game's source code to disassemble Gorf and comment it. Details of his work, as well as his in-progress Z80 disassembly for Gorf is in this archive. In Dave's notes, he refers to TERSE and Gorf related documents which are available at the BitSavers archive, here: http://bitsavers.org/pdf/nuttingAssoc/ In July of 2017, I reviewed the Gorf arcade game: It's great that the recent archiving of the TERSE source code for Gorf is already bearing fruit. Here you can find the last update of a test game born to test intybasic and overgrow out of control Be Aware: Someone on Internet has ripped off this code producing a blatant fake Gyruss game on cartridge trying to sell it to an obscene price This code is © Copyright 2015 of Arturo Ragozini. All rights are reserved. It is only for educational purposes, no commercial use is allowed unless permission is requested. This will not ban scammers and pirates out the intellivision word, but at least now none will be able to say he didn't know that the code wasn't for free use. I am wondering, did GORF come out before or after Galaga? I know that GORF has two levels that are from earlier games, Space Invaders and Galaxian, but it is in the later Midway cabinet that also got used for Tron. I am pondering selling off a couple project machines and seeking out a GORF. I have always liked the game, especially the early voice synthesis. Something about a game that trash talks you as you play! KLOV lists them as very common, so perhaps finding a working example might not be too hard. Of course, this is Eastern Ohio, which makes everything a bit difficult.

Just starting out on Jaguar emulation -- I'm trying to run "Gorf 2000" on Virtual Jaguar v2.1.2 (Windows 10). The emulator works (it runs the "Downfall" .j64 cart that comes with it). However, Gorf 2000 is a .jag file. Should that appear as an option in the "Insert Cartridge..." window? It only does if I force it to with "General->Show all files in file chooser", but it won't launch. How do I run it?

Hi all! I'm new to 5200 emulation, and am trying out Gorf on Altirra. I'm having keyboard control issues. Symptoms: - The player's ship immediately moves to the right, and stays at the right hand side - The left CTRL works for shooting, but can't move the ship left or right (presumably, this should be with the arrow keys) Altirra config: - Under Input Maps, I chose "Reset", then clicked the box for "Arrows Keys -> Joystick (port 1)" Setup: - Running Altirra 2.71 on Windows 10 All suggestions greatly appreciated!

Okay, well, I guess this is it, then. The start of the big sell off. Everything listed here is complete (or as complete as they were when they were released), and in great condition. The cartridges all have those super-cool end labels, unless otherwise noted. These prices are combinations of what I've seen on eBay, the JSII Price List, forum conversations about the going rate of items, and/or taking the price I originally paid and doubling it. Oh, and in a couple of cases, pulling a number out of my butt. Feel free to comment. (I put (CD) next to the CDs... I dunno why... you already know what these things are, I'm assuming.) -------------------------------------------- Arena Football '95 (Cart only - pretty sure that's how it originally shipped) - $50 USD Atomic (CD) - $60 Barkley Shut Up & Jam Demo (Cart only - pretty sure that's how it originally shipped) - $55 Beebris (comes with 2 CDs - the 2nd one is unlabeled, has all the emulator/Skunk files and source code, etc) - $60 Bomb Squad (JagMind) - (CD) - $50 Breakout 2000 (Box still has cellophane - I cut it on the top to get in the box - so it looks sealed but it isn't) - $120 Brett Hull (Jaguar) Hockey - JSII version (CD) - $60 Do the Same - Postcard Contest -1 of 20 winners (CD) - $100 Frog Feast #33 of 100 (CD) - $70 Gorf CD (One of under 200 sold!) - comes with "poster" insert (CD) - $400 Hyper Force (Box still has cellophane - I cut it on the top to get in the box - so it looks sealed but it isn't) - $60 Iron Soldier 1 Beta - very ltd (Cart only - mine was part of a second run, so no box/instructions) - $300 Iron Soldier 2 (CD w/ black label) - $100 Lost Treasures-#41 of 48 Limited E-Jagfest Edition (CD) - $100 Madbodies - $225 Missile Command 3D (Box still has cellophane - I cut it on the top to get in the box - so it looks sealed but it isn't) - $50 Ocean Depths (CD) - $80 Painter - Special Edition Cart #14 w/ Controller overlay (No end label) - $225 Superfly DX (SE) - 1 of 100 copies (comes with 2 CDs - 2nd CD is unlabelled, has source code, emu/Skunk files, etc) - $60 Total Carnage - $75 Towers II - (no end label) (Box still has cellophane - I cut it on the top to get in the box - so it looks sealed but it isn't) - $120 Zero 5 (Box still has cellophane - I cut it on the top to get in the box - so it looks sealed but it isn't) - $65 Shipping will be actual cost, rounded up to the next whole dollar. I will add delivery confirmation and/or insurace where applicable, and I ship worldwide. FYI - If they don't sell by the weekend (11/27 or so), I'll probably eBay them. I added one pic of everything. So as not to clog the site too badly, I won't do individual ones here, but if you want to see pictures of anything in particular, contact me and I'll email them to you. If interested in any of these, PM me or email me, or heck, reply to this thread if you don't mind others seeing your offers/interest. Up to you. Just so you know... I'm doing this only because I have to. Long term-unemployed man walkin'... Make my sad day a great day for you! Cheers, Randy Big pic missing Lost Treasures (and has a couple of items already sold.)

As you may or may not know, I've hit hard times. So, unfortunately for me but fortunately for you, I am selling off all my Jaguar games that have any decent value. The items that didn't sell through AA and JSII are now on eBay. The highlights are Gorf, Painter Special Edition Cart #14, Frog Feast #33, and Lost Treasures #41. As of now, most of the items have only seen the opening bid... perhaps you can snag something unique for a low cost. (Remember, it's going for a worthy cause... allowing me to pay my mortgage in January, or at least have a halfway decent Christmas.) eBay Seller: RDP-Stuffologist Auctions end Sunday 12/11. Cheers, Smeg
