  1. Hey Atari 2600 fans! It's time for the UNOFFICIAL 2023 Atari 2600 Homebrew Voting & Awards! Please check back later. Details to follow! @Albert May I have permission to edit this opening post?
  2. Time to announce the fifth round of the 2014 Harmony Games: Gingerbread man as suggested by SpiceWare Description Unrefined sugar, flour, ginger and heat have combined magically to produce consciousness and mobility in a delicious culinary confection. You, a Gingerbread Man, find yourself baking in a gas-fired oven, and you must find a way out! Gingerbread Man is based loosely on the popular children’s story of the same name. And although this game is appropriate for children, it’s not child’s play! In Gingerbread Man you must fight your way through 20 levels consisting of five unique game-play screens, facing a variety of obstacles and challenges in order to survive! In the first level you begin in a hot oven where you must escape before being cooked alive! Once you break free from the oven, you find yourself in the dining room where you need to collect all of the balloons and float up to the roof through the chimney. Now that you're on the roof you must build a bridge to a nearby tree while fighting off cats and birds that want you for a tasty treat! Once in the tree, you need to evade all the dangerous creatures in the forest (will you ever get a break?) And if you do escape the forest, you enter a cave where you must fight off your most fearsome enemy yet! Once you defeat the boss, to your dismay you are captured again and put back in the oven too cook some more, and this time the heat has been turned up! Will you ever escape? Can you battle through 19 levels to have your chance to out-fox the final boss and win your freedom? Gingerbread Man includes three game variations: Selection 1 is the default. Selection 2 is expert mode. Selection 3 is a special mode for children. You can d/l the game here Being this is our Special Game to be played at Atarimania 2 on June 14th as well were going to use selection #2 (expert mode) you can use the continue feature only once This round begins on June 9th at 3pm CST and ends on June 25th at 2pm CST **June 14th is a one day HSC challenge taking place at galloping ghost arcade the winner at Atarimania will get a free admission to VGS'14( if a person online beats the person at event the winner will get an e-certificate for our cafepress shop(which will expire 1 year of the date issued) valued at 25.00. (if online user is overseas a digital copy of 2014 VGS Program will be sent) this is only for that day from noon till 7pm CST)*** post your scrores here (ranks will posted at the AVC Online forum and on the harmony games web page (see signature))

  5. Looking through the AA store homebrew games and hacks, I find it quite disappointing that there are so few reviews. Even top sellers often have less than 10. And quite some games have zero or only one (usually from Nathan) review. So what is stopping you people to post some reviews there? Just describe what you like and (IMO probably even more important) what not. About game play, difficulty, packaging, ... whatever! Anything that you want to say about the game and that might help other people to select from the constantly growing list of homebrews. It doesn't have to be very long and elaborated. A few sentences will do. As an example, here is a link to Scramble. Click on the 4th tab, enter your name, email and review. Then submit. Easy, isn't it? And everyone1 can do, you must not even have bought the game, just played it! So please, start posting NOW! Afterwards, please post here which game you reviewed. So that others can see the progress and to encourage other people to follow your example. Else, please tell us what is stopping you from reviewing. I am really interested. 1 You don't even have to own that cart as long as you have played the game enough to qualify. The review link works for everyone!
  6. I'm working out a sale for most of my vintage CPU collection in order to take advantage of @Albert's sale, support some homebrewers, and support AA. I should have at least $500 to spend, maybe a bit more if I can sell the rest. So, the big question is, what should I buy? I'm interested in 2600/5200/7800 games on, some for each system. Homebrews preferred over hacks. As I know very little about the games, I am likely to order everything most recommended in this thread within my budget. @x=usr(1536) @zylon @GoldLeader @Charlie Cat @jeremiahjt @SlidellMan @Cebus Capucinis You are the users I interact with the most and I'd really value your opinions, when you've the time. Everyone else's opinions would be appreciated as well. Let's all have fun spending my money. I'll finish this thread with an unboxing and I'll show you my wicked terrible gaming. It'll be quite embarrassing. You won't want to miss it.
  7. RE: this thread - https://forums.atariage.com/blogs/entry/16804-cleaning-out-the-homebrew-folders/ I dug out my 20+ year old gridlines notebook to draw some stuff and realized I had never pitched these designs for 2002's Koffi: Yellow Kopter. Posting them in a blog.
  8. Score can be submitted three ways Now: via this post on Atari Age (like normal) via Facebook on the Atari Video Club group (thread post will be set up) via the AVC Online website on the AH HSC page *if we don't get more than 5 players (not counting myself) before the round ends the round will extended one more week. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name Score Pts Chris @Teleprompter 30,000 9pts James @ZeroPage Homebrew 20,000 8pts Tanya @ZeroPage Homebrew 7400 7pts Mike @littaum 2950 6pts Charles @cwieland 2600 5pts Dan I @Dan Iacovelli 1,500 4pts
  9. Complete Atari Jaguar Console (Local pickup in Florida preferred). Includes original power adapter and original AV cable. Two Jaguar controllers. The video game Cybermorph (comes in universal game case). The Atari Jaguar official gamers guide book. One custom made S-video cable. Nice pleather dust cover with jaguar logo stitched. The console is in excellent working condition. It is very clean, glossy and damage free. Console bundle (everything listed above): $400 Cash **TRADE CONSIDERED: I will consider trading this Atari Jaguar bundle for a new, boxed Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon edition (sealed preferred) and an official, Nintendo licensed, Switch Pro controller (straight trade). Also on the hunt for an Xstation modded original playstation with laserbear mount (I'll consider this $250 towards trade value). I may consider shipping.
  10. My UnoCart arrived yesterday! (Thanks @MacRorie!) The first thing I did was install a bunch of roms on an 8gb card and sort them into sub folders. I put the card in the cart and put the cart into my rev14 4 switch woody, fired it up and tested a few games. Pitfall II works great and I am also able to play the starpath Frogger. This thing is awesome! It’s like a RetroPi, but on original hardware! Best of both worlds! i am going to try out a few Homebrews next. How did I live without this thing before?
  11. The guys at Pyron's Lair are currently working on a conversion of Strider for the Atari Falcon: Judging by this video, this looks very similar to the Arcade and X68000.
  12. After much playing on the winner of best graphics winner of Original game, Kung Fu Combat 2, the only scoring system in the game as far as I can tell is obstacles stages with missiles or game variation 5. I have decided to poll for the following games: Legendary spear (this what I voted for) or Game of the bear (since there is no Public Rom for the second place winner Zarkstars, we went with Game of the Bear) Also since Game of the Bear did win for best and is one of the choice for best Graphic) we will have another poll to decide best game under orignal to play (instead of 2 choices we have have 3) Mr Yo Yo (what I voted for) ,Slide boy in maze land or Game of the Bear (Zark stars again came in second as mentioned no public rom is available so we went third place, but we still kept Game of the Bear as a choice if game of bear does win both voting chances are Game of the bear will stay on best game and Legendary spear will be used for graphics) Voting ends On March 12th,2022 at 7pm Central time All Games will be announced during AVC Live broadcast on twitch at twitch.tv/danavc at 9pm Central time
  13. I release a new homebrew for the Atari Jaguar today, the game is called SpideX. It was originally released in 2019 for the Vectrex, however, I have re-worked all the graphics (now featuring raster graphics) The new game now also has a 2 player mode, and music by Rimsky-Korsakov, and Khachaturian. It can be ordered here: http://tjocktv.se/product/spidex-atari-jaguar/ Enjoy
  14. Today we discuss even more Atari 7800 Homebrews. I am always happy to share the hard work and talents of these homebrew programmers. What has been your favorite homebrew in this series? What is a game you'd like to see programmed?
  15. Time to announce the Third Bonus Game of the 2021 Harmony Games Tournament which is Robot City by Thomas Jentzsch which one for best <4k game port. we playing with the latest release rom which is Robot_City_20200427_RC8.zip And we will be playing on level 4 (During the Atari Age Day interview on ZPH, Thomas mentioned this HSC and suggested using either 3 or 4, I played 3 but didn't think it would be good since we are coming to an end of the season I tried 4 and liked it so figured to use it. This round starts on May 8th at noon central and ends on June 6th at 2pm central Ranks start a 9pts for 1st place and 1pt for 9th and 10th place Good Luck!! Name: Score: Points @Thomas Jentzsch Thomas J: 3820: 9pts @cwieland Charles w: 2868 8pts @ZeroPage Homebrew James O : 2364 : 7pts @ZeroPage Homebrew Tanya O : 1924 :6pts @Arenafoot Brian M: 848: 5pts @Dan Iacovelli Dan I: 120: 4pts
  16. Wormhole 2000 (home brew) for the ATARI Jaguar: Very soon to be released on cartridge at: http://tjocktv.se/shop/
  17. The first time I played Spelunker was on the NES and found it to be extremely difficult but also addicting. I can't really explain why a game that can be so frustrating also has that one more go appeal. Since the game was one of my favorites on NES and I really like the box art I decided to pick up a copy of Team Pixelboy's version on the Colecovision. Game play: I felt like the Colecovision version was a bit easier overall (which is a welcome difference for me as I am not that good). This version was a bit more forgiving in the distance that you can fall without dying. The stalactites seemed to be spaced out further and the minecart seemed to move slower making it easier to control. Graphics: The graphics and sounds being both impressive for the Colecovison and pretty similar to the NES. I really like the two tone color of the walls and floor of he cave. Controls: The controls seem simpler and less tricky than what I remember on the NES. I felt like jumping off of a rope was more straightforward in this version which was a plus for me. Sound: The sound is similar to the NES version and I have a love/hate relationship with it. I enjoy the music in the game but it gets repetitive after a few rounds. I really wish there was a way to turn off the background music but keep the helpful sound effects. The warning sound for health and the tune is plays before the ghost appears are really helpful. The repetitive sound for the bat doesn't help me as I only hear it when he visible (and apparent) anyway. Sometimes I find the bat sound annoying if he happens to be on screen for an extended period of time if I have to ride elevators etc. My criticism is really about the design choices of the original developers, not team pixelboy's implementation (which seems to be spot on). Overall: Since the Colecovision version is on-par with the NES in terms of graphics and sound and seems easier overall, I think this may be my new preferred version of the game! I made are review video showing the box, manual, and cartridge along with gameplay footage (captured from my Collectorvision Phoenix) so I thought I would share it here:
  18. today I'm discussing more great Atari 7800 homebrews. Which are your favorite? Thanks for your continued support.

  20. Is it possible to join the club? Makes it easier to follow it.
