Hello all, I hope you're all well, I've just purchased an Atari Jaguar and it's great to see so much love from the community when I posted an image on Twitter & Facebook so quickly. I'm currently in the early stages of planning a Retro Gaming Convention/Expo and would like to know if the UK Jaguar community would like to be a part of it, such as UK Jagfest but on a smaller scale and as it's own section at the event. As I can see there is quite alot of interest in the Portland Expo in the US. I reached out to ejagfest who are based in Germany and they referred me to someone on Twitter who informed me UK Jagfest is dead however, wondered if this could be resurrected for my very first gaming convention right here in the UK. Showcasing Atari Jaguars for people to play throughout the weekend and also have the UK/EU (or anyone who wants to travel) community to come along

I went through some old pictures the other day and found some from JagFest 1998. I thought it might be nice to upload them here for posterity and see if anyone recognizes themselves or someone they know. Highlights that I remember: Hosted by Kevin Manne Battlesphere demo Thea Realm Fighters demo Steve Scavone showing Gorf 3D progress Aircars networked play Super Burnout tournament (1st place: Wes Powell) Tempest 2000 tournament (1st place: Wes Powell who absolutely crushed it) Psychedelic Pong tournament (1st place: Me) Ultra Vortek tournament (1st place: Wes Powell) Native demo (I believe this was the first time I saw/played it) Various homebrew for play loaded by bjl (if I remember correctly) Dave Bell talking about his wealth of knowledge on the Tramiels as well as his vaporware game, Defcon 1 (I believe it was his Alpine devkit that was displayed) Wes Powell successfully jumping over 2 tables Primal Rage soundtrack CD donated to me by Wes Powell (He said it was awful... I listened to it on the long drive back from New York... He was right... But I cherish it nonetheless ) Someone walking off with my copy of Secret Quest for the Atari 2600

While looking through some old photos recently, I found some pics of JagFest 2001. I thought it might be nice to upload them here since most of the old sources are gone or only accessible through web archive. I may remember something incorrectly or not remember at all, so feel free to add to or correct me if you were there. Highlights that I remember: Hosted by Dan Loosen (the Goat Store) I had a booth at this one where I demoed: the real Lynx AVP prototype (this was before it was widely available) a Phase Zero prototype a 3DO with the unreleased Jaguar games, such as Robinson's Requiem, Demolition Man, Creature Shock, etc. an Atari Jaguar with every released game an Atari ST with various games an Atari 7800 with every game an Atari 5200 with various games Micah Rowe had the Brett Hull Hockey cartridge for demo The Jaguar VR with Missile Command 3D Songbird Lynx tournaments: Ponx (1st place: me). I remember playing Championship Rally, but I don't remember if it was comlynxed or if there was a tournament. Carl demoing Total Carnage, Protector SE, and other Songbird releases Dan hosting a Ram It tournament (which was the 1st time I think I saw or played the game) 10 linked Jaguars for an awesome BattleShpere tournament (I thought I remembered 16, but just saw some old articles and it was 10) Iron Soldier 3 for demo on a NUON A museum of classic systems A PCFX for demo I won a copy of Hoverstrike CD for something, but don't remember what. Since I already owned every Jaguar game, I kept it sealed... still have it to this day. While typing this up, I decided to check on a few things and found this old writeup: Unfortunately, the only JagFests I was able to attend were 1998, 2001, and 2003 (which was combined with the Austin Gaming Expo and was the last year for a U.S. JagFest). While 2003 wasn't a dedicated JagFest, I still had a great time and was glad to make the trip with my friend DoctorClu.

I have become aware of a post by a certain individual on his own private Facebook group where only people are allowed to reside that agree with his ideals and beliefs. If you disagree with his delusional mind even slightly than you are instantly banned from the group. Hence I have been banned. So as I cannot voice my anger there, I am posting here, knowing full well that he will be informed soon enough by one of his delusional followers. This delusional individual is well known to spew countless lies on a range of subjects to suit his goals, in this case the slanderous accusation that I have sold copies of Battlesphere Gold at Jagfest UK, which is what is being referred to as 'at retro gaming events'. For the record this is what actually happened: I can’t remember the exact discussion due to it being many years ago, however the subject of BSG was being discussed, which went on to the subject of Thunderbird saying it was difficult and very expensive to make jaguar cartridges. For whatever foolish reason, I chose to voice my correct opinion that it was a simple matter and relatively cheap to produce such a device. With this said I demonstrated the fact using parts that I had at the show. This was back when painter was being produced and I sold a load to Nick Harlow at the show for him to sell in his shop so i had various parts there at the time. There was only ever one of these made at the show on a socketed board I had pre prepared with sockets. It was most definitely not sold to anyone and came back home with me after the show had finished. Because I am so sure about this and what actually happened that day, I invite anyone to post proof to the contrary, without any hard feelings towards them in any way from me. Why am I doing / asking this, well it is very simple. There is nothing to post because it did not happen. This is not the first time this has been brought up on his questionable little group of delusional people over on Facebook. Previous times I have let it slide because quite frankly I can’t be arsed with his delusional behavior and I have better things to do than attempt to fight this inaccurate slander, but as he insists on being a retard I am taking action to set the facts straight once and for all. As he seems intent on accusing me of pirating and profiteering on BSG copies that I have apparently sold it seems only fair that I do the same with actual proof. As everyone should be aware, there are still quite a few good people in the jaguar community and give away what they have made for free. Looking at said delusional individuals ebay shop you can clearly see that he is attempting to make profit from selling free software. If it was being sold as non profit I would expect the item price to be at the VERY MAXIMUM £2, 10p for a blank cd and a piece of a4 paper, some printer ink and a cheap cd case and possibly a small postage fee, but yet various peoples work they have given away for free is being sold for £24.99, that’s £23 profit going into this retards pocket Don’t be stupid, download this stuff yourself and burn it yourself using JiFFI available here: http://reboot.atari.org/downloads/JiFFI/jiffi_1.42.zip A simple google search will reveal much of this stuff where you can download it for nothing yourself For example, the creator of Jagmarble and Jagmania, Matthias Domin has kindly given away these games for free on his webpage, there IS NO NEED TO PAY FOR THEM, if you have paid for them you need to demand a refund from the person you bought them from. http://mdgames.de/jag_eng.htm http://mdgames.de/jagmania.zip http://mdgames.de/jagmarbl.zip So as far as I can see, this delusional individual accuses others of being a pirate, when he is actually a pirate himself and has no issues about selling other people’s work to make a quick buck at their expense. I am 100% sure the authors of this software were not contacted for permission to sell their software. All that is left to say is make your own mind up, don’t take sides based on one person’s point of view, make sure you do your own research if you are passionate about a particular subject. Google is your friend, there is much information about peoples accomplishments and fails (some more than others), during your decision making process, you may want to look into what he and i have actually produced for the community, there will be a clear difference. if you are siding with this persons lies, Great. if you are siding with my account of the events, Great

The European Atari Jaguar Festival, “ejagfest” in short, takes place on November 5th and 6th of this year in Kleinenbroich (between Düsseldorf and Mönchengladbach), Germany. We celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Atari 7800 which has been released 30 years ago in 1986. You will find more detailed information at the ejagfest.de website soon. If you plan to show something please write me a short email to “info at ejagfest.de”. You can find Flyer in printable resolution here. best regards, Björn

Hey all, I was cleaning up my old laptop and I found this video. I almost trashed it from my downloads folder by accident but decided to throw it up on YouTube for the sake of preservation. This was the Classic Console and Arcade Gaming Show (CCAG) in Cleveland, Ohio in 2004. We had a pre-release Mad Bodies on display as well as some custom T2K rotary controllers and some NUON machines running T3K and the unreleased Bust-A-Move 4. Enjoy!

Seems that the €-JagFest is on the 3rd of November 2012 at the usual place in Kaarts. Strangely nobody did an announcement on AtariAge while it is only less than 3 weeks away. Robert

Good morning, all. With the present calendar year winding down to a close, I am posting this as a feeler for interest in a forthcoming Atari Jaguar only gaming exposition. The exposition would be free and be in the Baltimore-DC area. Let me know if anyone would be interested in a solid weekend of classic gaming. Michael
