  1. I'm setting up my Magnavox Odyssey (the original from 1972), and I have a few questions about TV's, given the overlays that are required for the Odyssey games. I have a 40" LED Vizio and the Odyssey works on it and gives a pretty decent image, however given the size of the screen the the bezel is too far for me to safely tape the overlays onto it. The other option for getting the overlays to stay on the TV during game play would be to tape it onto the TV screen itself, would there be any potential harm to the TV in doing that? Or is there some type of tape or adhesive which would be safe for using on the TV screen itself? Another thought I had is that I could get a smaller cheap flat screen TV, I used to have a 26 inch in which the overlays fit very nicely actually, I could possibly get a new TV in the 20-something inch range that would be just for the Odyssey (and since it would be a back up if there were any damage to the screen it wouldn't be too bad). Or would the ideal set up be a traditional CRT TV? Thank you for your thoughts and comments, and I hope everyone is doing well.
  2. I have the original Odyssey (the one released in 1972), and I was wondering since the original AC adapters are a bit hard to find, is it compatible with any other AC adapter? I'm fine using the batteries but figured it would be better to just plug it into an outlet rather than cause any wear and tear to the battery compartment.
  3. Hi guys, I have recently gotten my hands on an Odyssey 2 and it's "The Voice" module. After hooking everything up, I tried my copy of Smithereens! and found that the sound comming from The Voice was rather quiet. I suspected that the capacitors needed replaced, so I ordered a kit and installed them. After the installation I noticed a little improvement (the sound was not audible with the volume at max), but the sound is still very quiet. Has anyone here ever experienced something similar? Are there other possible common defects I can look into? I have read around that The Voice originaly came with it's own power adapter. I only have the stock AC adapter that came with my Odyssey 2 unit (11.5V, 400ma). Could this be the culprit? If so, what are the power specs of the adapter that came with The Voice? Thanks for any advice.
  4. Revival Studios is proud to present their latest game release for the Philips Videopac and Magnavox Odyssey2 consoles, called Cavity. In cavity, your goal is to navigate your way through the cave while collecting various power-ups for points. As the game gradually increases in both speed and difficulty, you can collect a yellow power-up which temporarily stops the speed from increasing. If you get the special item by picking up the blinking power-up at the right moment, you will be rewarded with a massive boost to your score as well as an instant speed-down The game uses advanced color-techniques, so that for the first time the gameplay experience will be identical on the bare-bones Odyssey2/G7000 console and the Videopac+/G7400 , while still providing rich multicolor graphics. Enjoy the trailer (watch with sound on): The game is available on cartridge in a run of 100 copies. For more information about the game , visit the game's website at: http://www.revival-studios.com/?page=136
  5. Hey everyone! PM me if you're interested. Thanks for looking! Jose
  6. Join Wizzy, the son of the Wizard of Odyssey, in his first adventure! While working on a powerful spell,Wizzy's father was being watched by others. As a precaution he captured the spell inside a crystal and divided it into 4 pieces, which he buried inside the mines, just south of your village. It is now up to you to collect these pieces and bring them together inside the enchanted chest to ensure the spell doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. This game really pushes the boundries of what is possible on the dear old Philips Videopac and the Magnavox Odyssey 2 ! Check out the trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcD6qczYIJY Game features: - Playable on Videopac and Odyssey2 consoles - High resolution background on Videopac+ consoles - Multicolored backgrounds and sprites - Digitized speech using The voice add-on - Internet highscore uploading - Online rewards system Release information: The game is available on cartridge with a limited release of 100 copies. Check out the the Revival Studios website for more information, at: http://www.revival-s...s.com/?page=131 Also check out my other homebrew games for the Magnavox Odyssey2 and Philips Videopac systems!
  7. Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and i'm trying to get myself around to posting I live in australia and it is completely impossible for me to find a Magnavox odyssey without paying 300-400 on ebay for one. I understand it would not work on a PAL tv set, it would be for collecting purposes. Does anyone here have one they would be willing to sell, boxed preferebly! Thanks
  8. Hey there, Just learning the ropes of video capture and commentary. I've upgraded my capture equipment since recording the ones below, but regardless, thought I'd share them here. And here is a bit more footage from the seminal classic, Computer Golf!
  9. Hi everyone, I would like to share photos of my collection in this thread. Most of my collecting is for the Atari 2600, and my acquisitions are primarily focused on replacing the lower quality items I have with higher quality ones (boxes, replacing carts with poor labels, filling in missing manuals, etc). As I replace items in my collection, or upgrade them with higher quality duplicates, I will update the items shown in this thread. I also have an Odyssey 2 collection, and most of what you will see in this collection are things I have held onto since childhood. Many of my loose carts were stolen a few years ago, but I am the original owner of almost all of the boxes. My collecting has recently begun to branch out in acquiring titles by my favorite Atari 2600 publishers (Activision and Imagic) for other systems. My postings below will be organized primarily by publisher, and I will add new messages to the thread over time covering various publishers, as I can find the time.
  10. I already have a Magnavox Odyssey, yellow color, with all disks and Rifle. It's a RUN 2 Yellow Magnavox Odyssey. I'm looking forward to buy 2 things: 1)A white Magnavox Odyssey. If it's RUN 1 or 2 it doesn't matter, I only care that it's white. 2)A Magnavox Odyssey Handball #8 game. Unfortunately I lost 2 good auctions this week (didn't get on time and one was selling it at 19,9 dollars!) and I hadn't seen the game on Ebay for over one month! It's the only game missing from our collection as we are planning a History of Video games show (in our YouTube channel) and we need to present all Magnavox Odyssey's games, so that one must fill at least the 10 basic Odyssey disks. * PS Those of you that leave in USA, please check your local retro market store, friends or anything nearby. You can earn money easily from me by selling it even double price. Your help will be appreciated. Thank you.
