  1. Hello, I've recently been rebuilding my Coleco ADAM setup, most of which was sold off decades ago. Now I have a fully classic working system and a newly built ADAM drive emulator (ADE). All seems well, but I've been informed that I should be able to daisy chain the keyboard off the OUTPUT jack from a physical disk drive. When attempting this I get no light or function on the keyboard, although this keyboard (and another spare keyboard) work just fine when connected directly to the front or side ADAMNet jacks. Is there something I am doing wrong? I can successfully chain 2 physical disk drives without problem, but was advised to get keyboard chained before moving on to ADE coexistence with physical drive. Thanks for your advice, Shawn

  3. Some ideas for games I'll never get around to programming myself, but which would be awfully fun to play, that someone ought to make, so I might as well put the ideas out there... I have been dreaming up 4 and more player games since the 8-bit days. Not network games, but the heat of competition and the fun of playing with your friends right there next to you, crowded around the TV. Back in the day I designed a 4-joystick adapter for the C64 on paper. I never got around to making it, but recently saw this QuadraStik Adapter for the 2600, which may or may not actually exist. ← UPDATE: Nathan from the site wrote back and said they are getting close! Seeing that fired up the old dream, and inspired me to mock up some games I've always wanted to see. These aren't terribly original, just mashing up various elements from some old favorites. Some of these might exceed the limitations of the 2600 (in that case, how about for a computer like the Atari 800 which has 4 joystick ports out of the box?) but with emulators and modern technology I have heard about 16k or 32k cartridges, Arduino powered circuits, etc., anything's possible. Anyway here are some that might be fun to make... enjoy
  4. Hi. I grew up with Commodore's but I've always had a soft spot for the 2600. Especially the very early ones, its amazing to see what people can still get it to do these days. So I bought my first ever Atari system, a light sixer with 9 games. Well, unfortunately Im having major problems getting it to work. I keep testing the system with the game Tennis (although Im having similar issues with other games) and very, very rarely do I get the game to work without glitches. More often it outputs a completely broken image, with artifacts in the playing area, rolling video, and all sorts of things like that. I made a short video to show you how that looks, please click here (it's a 1.4Mb mp4, should open and play in any video player). Does this look familiar to anyone? What chip is likely to be causing this? Ive thoroughly cleaned the system using contact spray, resoldered a lose solder point, checked the board for troubles.. Im lost now. Please help!
  5. Hello all, What an excellent forum! I've read here for sometime now. Been using my STe 4 mb RAM for years for Cubase and composing music. It's also got some great synth editors! I recently moved back to the UK from the United States, and my STe upon unpacking is not working. There appears to be no physical damage, however only the power light is coming on when I try to boot. No video output, and the FD 3.5" is not even trying to read. No light on it. Not even a faint one. There's also no audio. I've reseated the RAM, but that's about it. No luck with that by the way. I do have a 520 which I've swapped the PSU with, but nothing doing there either. The 1040 supply is working fine. Just something on the MB is not! I'm no electronics engineer, but I do understand a multimeter. I don't see any discoloration or cracks on the MB, but maybe I ought to check somewhere specific? Capacitors also look OK. Anybody have any ideas? Is it worth trying to fix, or should I say goodbye to my loyal friend since 1990 and replace him with a new Atari? Thanks, Fran
  6. I decided to get an NES Toploader, I really wanted a NES 8-Bit unit that low-budget made, but I can not get any response from the guy. So where I am at now. I got a toploader and ordered the NESRGB kit for it, it really looks like an amazing kit. I have read a bunch and watch a few videos but it does not seem that anyone is getting stereo (or at least 2 channel audio) out of the kit. The video jack that it comes with looks like a total hack! I ordered the famicom multi port kit to install on my NES and it has a pin for left and right audio, but the NESRGB only has 1 audio out channel. Does anyone have a work around, can I just split that 'mono' out and at least get audio to both speakers? I am using that famicom multi out to a SCART cable that will feed an OSSC with stereo speakers attached, I would like both speakers to get audio.
  7. Hi everyone I've recently purchased a Jaguar off Ebay that is in great condition. Came with many games and extra contorler. However, the picture does not work properly. The sound works fine but when it is turned on, the picture flashes on and off. I have uploaded a video to youtube to demonstrate. It came with a standard scart output not RF. This model of Jaguar does not even have the RF out... At the end of the video, I show the telly using the same scart to display a Wii working perfectly just to prove it is not the telly. There are also some pictures at the bottom... Does anyone have any idea what is causing this issue, and how I can reslove it? Thanks Ali
  8. Hi all, I've been lurking a while to reading advice, but am a first time poster. I've just got my Atari 2600 and am so excited because I get to re-live all the memories I had as a child when I used to have one. I've read many of the forums on connecting it up but not 100% sure on the solution so would like to check something before going ahead. My problem comes with my TV. This particular TV does NOT have a F-type Coax input connector or component/composite input. It only has a non-screw coax out, HDMI, USB, SCART and the connection for the TV Aerial which I think you call RF input. This is the TV http://direct.asda.com/george/home-garden/tvs-brackets/polaroid-42-led-hd-tv-series-1/000554128,default,pd.html I have plugged the RCA from the Atari directly into the TV RF input. I get a good picture and it all works but I get no sound, just loud white noise. I understand that this is because the RF inputs can't handle both so I need another option. Looking at Switchboxes etc they still seem to have the F-type screw in for the Coax input so that's no good. So the only option I can think of is this: Can I plug the Atari RCA into a second hand VCR's aerial input and then use the scart from the VCR to the TV? Would that work? There may be a gadget or something else you may suggest but I don't understand the RF Modulator/demodulator thing. Is that an option and if so can someone point me in the right direction to the right one to buy? I assume it would go from RCA to HDMI or does that not work? Any advice would be more than welcome and hopefully once I am up and running I look forward to chatting about playing the Atari again for the first time in 30+ years. Many thanks. Tec.
  9. So after trying out different techniques I found out my newer model 99 doesn't output video (or sound clicks) My silver TI works just fine. I don't have much soldering experience, but am I quick learner. Are there any steps I can do to find out what part is not working?
