Hi all.. new here! Thanks for having me! I am wondering which is the best budget handheld? Ideally I would love a Steam Deck, but I can't justify that much on a handheld atm. So based on my own research it feels like its between : Anbernic 353M Anbernic RG505 Retroid Pocket 3+ Ayn Odin Pro (what is the difference between base and pro?) I love the look of the 353M, love the dpad swap on the odin, but I just wish the 353M had more RAM and was capable of PS2/GC. Can't figure out why its almost the same price as the much superior (on paper) RG505 either. Anyone know why? Just wish the 505 had the look of the 353. It looks boring IMO and the colour choices are crap. So I think the 353M is only on my list because of high ratings and it looks great, but also the linux option was attractive. But I suppose I need to look at one of the other 3 if I want PS2/GC games but came here for advice. Or maybe you know of a better handheld for that price range? My budget is upto £200/$250 (GBP/USD) require ps2/gc emulation screen larger than 4" would be nice Suggestions welcome! Cheers!

In good working order. My niece had this and barely used it some 25 years ago. Hooked up fine and played the one game (bonus! Hello Kitty included! That's worth at least 25 cents!) fine. US$25 Paypal and $10 shipping anywhere in the USA for a total of $35. I'm 'meeplemaster' on eBay with perfect 1000+ seller feedback - though I've given up on eBay for various reasons that mostly amounts to: they suck.

For my PS1, I knew the console more for its RPGs (Final Fantasy), Tomb Raider, arcade collections and various platformers. Imagine my shock when I learned that point-and-click adventure games were released for the PS1! I always saw stuff like King's Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, etc for the home computer market as opposed to the console market. Anyway, Blazing Dragons on the PS1 has my interest as I've watched part of a playthrough on YouTube of the game; its sense of humor reminds me a lot of Sam & Max and Freddy Pharkas. I want to grab a copy of it. I also learned of Discworld by watching the first few minutes of a playthrough. Besides Discworld and Blazing Dragons, can anyone else recommend more point-and-click adventure games for PS1?

Hi, I just moved this week and it dawned on me that I have too many consoles. I want to reduce my collection to the essentials and be rid of what I don't need. I'm in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina and would like to sell these locally. It does not have to be sold in 1 lot, but I would appreciate if you're interested to buy as much of it as you'd like. I can negotiate down the price if you get several items at once. Here's what I've got: 2x Original Xbox - only 1 set of component cables and 1 controller - $100 FZ-10 3DO (had a broken worm gear. I replaced it with a 3D printed gear and it works again. Includes Goldstar controller) $75 PC Engine Coregrafx with Turbo Everdrive (no controller, video cables, or AC adapter included) $120 Dreamcast with USB-GDROM and Pico PSU + 1 controller $150 Virtual Boy with stand, controller, battery pack, PSU pack (uses SNES AC adapter), and 3 games (Red Alarm, Mario Tennis, VB Wario Land) $150 Atari 600XL with 64K ram and yellow/white composite RCA mod (wico joystick and NOS power supply included) $100 Atari 130XE with switchable BIOS, NOS PSU, and AV cables $100 Atari 2600 Heavy Sixer with AC adapter $150 Playstation 1 with new laser, Monster brand S-video cable, and clear Dualshock controller $40 I hope to find these all good homes. Don't be afraid to PM with with offers. Thanks!

Maybe someone can help me solve a few small problems I'm coming across. I'm following this schematic/description -- https://gamesx.com/controldata/psxcont/psxcont.htm#CIRCUIT I think I figured it out...mostly. He leaves a lot to be deciphered, lol. I'm drawing up a schematic in KiCAD right now, and I only have a few questions: 1. The DATA pin of the controller plug connects to SER OUT, correct? 2. Where does the COMMAND pin of the controller plug connect to? I must've re-read the entire page 15 times and still can't decipher where COMMAND goes. 3. Are the 74HC165 pins not associated with buttons (A1-A8, B1-B8, etc.) left with no connection? Or do they share a connection? COMMAND, maybe? Thanks in advance!

From the album: Games and Their Stories
I grew up in the 6th generation of gaming, but my first system was my parent's PS1. I remember this being my first video game that I've ever played. I always remember having a good laugh just running into enemies and gliding from the highest points of each level. I picked this up when my retro game store had a PSX in stock. I still to this day have a blast with this game, easily my favorite collectathon game. -
I'd like to pick up some PlayStation games that I missed, but I'm slightly confused as to all the intricacies of backwards compatibility between the generations. I know PS1 games will play on a PS2, so I don't need a PS1. PS2 games will play on certain PS3s - but those command a hefty price premium? PS4s will play PS1 games (from disk? do you have to repurchase them?) - will they play PS2 or PS3 titles? So at a minimum, I need a backwards compatibile PS3 and a PS4 to access the full library, but it may be more cost effective to get a PS2 and a non-compat PS3? Is my knowledge out of date? I have a Trinitron in the basement so I can hook up a PS2 there if need be, but I'd like the keep the number of systems to a minimum.

Anyone like the classic first person shooter, Doom? I remember my brother and I getting the first episode on diskette when the game first hit shelves years ago. Shooting demons, imps, sergeants, etc. with a shotgun, pistol, Gatling gun and so on - that was quite a thrill. I managed to get a copy of the PS1 edition of Doom for cheap at a Gamestop; the PS1 port has Doom 1 and 2 as well as extra levels. It is quite a rush to play this and get surprised by the imps chucking fireballs at you; those guys sneak up on you.

It blows my mind how many games could have been so much better with a multiplayer option. This one especially stands out. What ones can you think of?

Hello retro fans! I was a Net Yaroze (SCEE) member back in the day. I did do a bit on it, after finishing uni, but never finished nor released anything and since then lost what I did I never pursued a gamedev career, mostly after seeing how difficult the gamedev was compared to business software Anyway, the 20th year anniversary of the Net Yaroze is March 2017, so I've been working on a 3D Net Yaroze game since the start of 2016 in my spare time... You can follow/contact me via: https://www.youtube.com/user/gwald/videos https://twitter.com/xpCoin http://xpcoin.com/ I want to make clear, contractually I can't release Sony binaries nor code.. and Sony can still take back the dev kit when they like! :D I'll probably contact Sony see if I can release it somehow (free of cause) on PSN. If not, then I'll just port it to SDL2 over time. Cheers gwald

I would like to use a USB trackball on PS1 games that support the Playstation Mouse (especially Atari Anniversary). I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is any type of adapter that would work for this? There seem to be adapters out there that are designed to allow the use of USB mouse and keyboard on FPS for the PS2, but since those games were likely not designed for the Playstation Mouse, I am doubtful that I'd get the same kind of accuracy and responsiveness on games designed for the Playstation Mouse, but perhaps I am wrong?

Ah, screw it.. I just found out I can get more for what's left by trading them in to the independent gaming store locally than I would by selling them here, haha. Consider everything that was left to be gone!
