  1. Hello, I recently came across a YouTube video named “Atari Jaguar Source Code Collection” where someone shows the content of a disc containing several source codes for Atari Jaguar games. One of the directories is titled “Rayman”, and I'm curious to know what's in there exactly. From what I've understood, this disc and its content are kept away from the public, so I'm not asking to get a copy of the disc; but I'm only curious about the file listing of the “Rayman” directory, and eventually the files sizes. I've been working on and off on the reverse engineering of Rayman 1 for MS-DOS for the past years, so I'm curious to know if an actual copy of the game's source code exists around somewhere in the wild. Best regards to you all!

  3. I'm new here but not necessarily to the Jaguar library. I was looking for a thread on underrated/underappreciated Jaguar games and didn't find anything, so I'm sorry if I missed something. I feel like some Jag games don't get the love they deserve and I'm curious to get some other takes on this (either OG or homebrew titles). Here's my list: Brutal Sports Football -- I think this and NBA Jam are THE BEST 2 player games on the console and pretty much anytime I dust off my Jaguar I always gravitate towards this game. There's just something about watching old muscle heads with gray hair stabbing lizard men with knives and kicking their heads around the field. I love how Overtime is essentially a literal interpretation of "Sudden Death." I always felt the controls were excellent and I know that while it was originally released on the Amiga, they planned on ports for the SNES and Genesis. I'm sad we never got them, but the great pixel art combined with a cool single player tournament mode and pretty solid play mechanics has kept me coming back to my Jaguar for years. Doom -- I know Doom on the Jaguar gets some love, but I think it deserves more recognition due to it being the only port of the game coded by ID Software and became the anchor which nearly every other port of the game, including the excellent PSX version, were derived from. You could either spend all your parent's cash on a crazy expensive PC, play a handful of crappy console ports, or play the Jaguar version which still holds up today. Iron Soldier -- I hate mech games, but I adore Iron Soldier (never played the sequel). The first time I played this game and looked down at a tank shooting me from the ground, I was blown away that I could actually see my giant mech feet stomping the crap out of everything in the environment, including the poor tank! I still think the destruction on larger buildings looks pretty good, and this is still the only time I've ever felt like I was controlling this lumbering mechanical monster with a machine gun (and eventually a friggin' chainsaw). Rayman -- The original is still my favorite version of the game, and I know it's insanely hard and not perfectly balanced the closer to the end you get, but I still think this Jaguar game is one of the best on the console and pretty much any other retro console for that matter. Debatably the best looking game on the Jaguar, Ubi Soft really showed off how well the system could push a bunch of colorful sprites around the screen. The controls are pretty much perfect and the core gameplay is really fun, it's just the level design ranges from excellent to "huh?" after the first couple of stages. Power Drive Rally -- Another great looking Jaguar game, my only complaint with PDR is that the controls feel a bit stiff. Once you learn how the cars handle though, this is probably my favorite overhead racer in existence. There were some great ones for the Neo Geo, but I felt that you need ludicrous reaction time in those to survive, and I think that PDR found the perfect balance of warning signals and track design. This is another must have for me, even though I know it doesn't push the Jaguar very much, it just has a certain charm to it that you don't get in a lot of games today.
  4. So collecting everything Bubsy got me started on collecting the E3 and video game promotion enamel and metal pins. Then while see what Zool had out there (having found about all I could for Bubsy) I found the Zool: Ninja of the Nth Dimension pin! (Update hours later...) There is a Rayman pin. looks like bigger in scale than the ones above. That one is on the way. And so far no Kid Kleets /Soccer Kid pin. But will naturally keep looking. What else is out there I wonder? Cannon Fodder? Didn't see one for that yet. But one for the Worms franchise, luckily fairly available.... Who else am I missing as far as mascots and characters go? Looked for Dizzy which have been recently ported to the Jaguar. Spread to the action games? Kasumi Ninja, Ultra Vortek, Wolfenstein 3D... nothing yet. But no surprise to find Doom. Naturally the Doom logo was out there, but so was the character one... About all I can find for now. if you find other character pins related to those found on Jaguar games let me know and I'll add it and the finder's credit here!
  5. Frederic Houde (Ubisoft) – Interview - Creator of Rayman on the Jaguar Hi guys, I recently had the ultimate pleasure of interviewing Ubisoft legend Frederic Houde. He is probably best known as the co-creator of Rayman! I ask a number of questions on how the game was made, how it was initially developed exclusively for the Jag and how he feels it compares to the PS1 version. I also ask him about the 'lost' SNES version of the game, his work on Beyond Good & Evil and lots more! Feel free to check it out: http://www.arcadeattack.co.uk/frederic-houde-rayman/ Kind regards Adrian
  6. This is a step-by-step of our newest creation..The Atari Jaguar Arcade Cabinet! It also houses a 7800!! First we build a frame (this is our own plan devised by me..Papa.).. ..if you look in the background you can see that we've done this sort of thing before.. Shelves are added. The lowest shelf lifts up for easy access to power. The others are screwed in with room on each side for cords to drop down through. We use a 4X8 cut down the middle and shortened for both sides. The angle cut from the top flips over and becomes the sides for the panel! A basic layout for the control panel is conceived.. ..as are the art schemes. Everything is done in a certain order. The marquee is added and stabilizes the top. The paint is added.. ..the panel is cut (special methods are used to cut plexiglass without cracking!!) Panel art is embedded. The panel is finished!! The panel is added, the screen is set, and inside paint is done (not in that order..) The front panel is prepared.. ..and test fitted! A massive amount of soldering went into this cabinet.. Ultimately, 164 solder points are made!! Trim is added. The system is tested and safety corners are added. Plexiglass is added to the front along with the decorative cover.. I present.. The Jaguar Arcade Cabinet!! From Rayman to Rampage! Jaguar and 7800 (and,of course, 2600) compatibility!! Thanks for viewing!!

Rayman SCORES: Spacey Invader - 015%(+10) travistouchdown - 011%(+8 ) masematte - 009%(+6) The Current Jaguar HSC Rankings: masematte - (80 pts) travistouchdown - (66 pts) mckafka99 - (60 pts) Spacey Invader - (54 pts) twoquickcapri - (26 pts) JaguarGod - (20 pts) Serblander - (18 pts) Darrin9999 - (12 pts) jblenkle - (5 pts) roadrunner - (3 pts) iceman - (1 pts)
  8. During my holiday I happened to be in Dresden for a few days. And there I found this graffiti which looks like if it was inspired by Rayman. And Google street view has a view that is not obscured by the glass containers. So was there a Jaguar fan at work If you want to see it yourself, the graffiti is located in the Donathstraße 7 in the Laubegast area of Dresden. Robert

EXTREMEMELY OLD! Drawn in MSpaint. This was back when I played around with my old Rayman fan characters Twinkle and Spark, whom like Bubsy's relatives are his nephew and niece. And...this was also when I played around with the idea of giving Rayman a cute "Popple" like tail.

  19. I am in the midst of my overly long and detailed walkthrough of Rayman and I have come to a part I have always been confused about. In the second level of Eraser Plains the stage is separated by a fall between two pencils. You can backtrack easily every where else in the level until you get to here. Once you fall down you cannot jump high enough to get back up. But once you continue on from here one of those ding sounds go off that lets you know something has been triggered. If you go back to the point with the two pencils there is now a pencil sharpener platform that takes you back up. Does anybody know why? I have never been able to find a reason for having access to the first part of the stage once you get towards the end. If anybody knows a reason or has any idea let me know please. Also does anybody have a suggestion for what I should call those ding sounds? Right now I plan on just calling them dings.
  20. Hi Folks, I collect carts, then try and find the manuals and buy custom game cases to house my collection. Currently I am looking for 4 manuals for Atari Jaguar Games: 1. Rayman 2. Brutal Sports Football 3. Zool 2 4. Ultra Vortek Please PM me or respond to this thread if you have any of these extra that you are willing to part with. I will pay fair market value, and all shipping costs. Thanks! -Rick Sorry for the repeat just wanted to add tags. Thanks
