I wanted to create a cable to connect my Amigas to my Atari SC1224 color monitor. I found a few forum posts on the issue: http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=80003 http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=30991 http://atariage.com/forums/topic/189852-how-to-find-a-good-amiga-500/ But nothing with the actual schematic. It should be straightforward, but the poster in the English Amiga Board post stated he was having problems, and someone suggested taping the CSYNC line instead. Anyway, I made a cable with a simple RGBHV and GND connection from the Amiga to the SC1224 and it works beautifully. I added audio too by tying left and right audio together and feeding them to pin 1 of the Atari monitor. Here is the schematic: And here are some results: I figured I would add this here for anyone else wondering if there is some weird magic to connecting an SC1224 to an Amiga. There isn't. The only surprise was that the original Amiga RGB video cable I tried to use as a donor does not carry HSYNC and VSYNC at all. I has to sacrifice an Amigakit RGB to SCART cable in the end too. So far at least though it works great and looks beautiful. Graham

Greetings! It’s nice to be back with w my Atari again and here on Atari Age. I recently got an Atari SC1224 Monitor from a thrift store. It works great plugged into the STacy! I started running Cubase 3.02 and noticed that some of the text columns were overlapping. I popped open the manual for Cubase and came across this: “…it works with Atari monochrome monitors, like the 12” SM-124 or SM-125 or the 19” SM-194. Other monochrome monitors may work. Color monitors are not supported.” Has anyone had a similar experience? Is there a workaround to be able to use the SC1224? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

The Red "gun" on my SC1224, leaving me only the GB of the RGB. Luckily someone I've purchased from in the past has an SC1435 available that I'll pick up tomorrow. which leaves the question of what to do with this SC1224. Being the old fart that I am, I remember the days of Tube TV's where everything was repairable, but I'm not so sure about 80's/90's era CRT VDT's. I also hate to see an Atari monitor end up in electronics recycling, since there are likely so few of them left now, 30 years after their manufacture. So if there is someone in the Toronto area (I have no intention of shipping it anywhere). that would like it for parts or repair, and is willing to pick it up (Bathurst/Eglinton), it's yours for the outrageous price of $0 (plus 15 % tax) If I don't get a reply to this or a PM within the next week, it's being put out on electronics-waste pick up day. Picked up an Atari 1040 STe with a SC1224 Color monitor used (craigslist) for a good price. It has been working all fine and dandy except a couple odd issues. The volume knob is Glitchy in that it only sometimes works and the sound will cut out and after about 20 minutes of usage.. The thing just REEKS!!! as in the entire apartment smells like "stale burnt popcorn" as someone in the chat room so eloquently suggested. This really makes me sad the monitor is a cute little thing and I wanted to enjoy it for long periods of time without worry. The smell is so strong that even after opening a window with a fan on the highest setting blowing on it, it is still lingering there. I'm getting worried the damn thing might even explode so it can't be too safe to use plus the smell is causing me migraine headaches. -
This has got me stumped. I recently purchased a 520STfm from a guy on Craigslist who said it "worked the last time he used it." I also scored an SC1224 monitor (one of the Goldstar monitors with the hardwired cable) for $7 at a thrift shop that same week, which was a massive steal as far as I'm concerned. I finally got some time to mess around with the two items a couple weeks ago. The monitor was seriously maladjusted, but after about an hour of fiddling with the pots on the back, I got the image to stabilize and sync. The monitor, now that it's adjusted, appears to work great, but now that I can see the image from the computer, I'm wondering what's wrong. I get a solid green screen with a series of cyan-blue lines running in parallel down the screen (I've attached a couple images to show what I'm talking about-- apologies for the phone-pic quality). No bombs, but just a green screen with some weird lines. I've also noticed that the disk drive doesn't seem to make any noise or recognize any disks, so I'm not sure if it's dead or not. I did completely disassemble the 520 and manually pressed down on each socketed chip, thinking maybe the ROMs had come unseated. I did not, however, completely remove the ROMs, clean the pins and sockets, and reseat (maybe I should have?) The issue persisted even after I did this. Any ideas what could be causing this? The possibly-faulty disk drive? ROM troubles? Some adjustment on the monitor that I neglected? Something else I haven't considered? I'm hoping someone has seen this issue before and knows what's going on... Thanks in advance

Hi, gang -- I've got a fully functional Atari 520STe system, complete with an external Seagate Hard Drive and color SC1224 monitor. Both the computer and monitor have their original boxes and the styrofoam packing they came in. The system boots and works fine. Please see the attached photos. I thought I'd offer it here to people who I know will appreciate it, before it goes on eBay. This system has been carefully stored in a climate controlled environment, so it's in great shape. Email: gerryleone@earthlink.net I barely remember how to run this thing, so details may vary slightly from what I describe: Atari 520STe -- running NeoDesk4, Geneva Multitasking, and Universal Item Selector, plus several other boot-up programs. NeoDesk reports the computer has 2,704,740 bytes of ST RAM. I still even have the cardboard floppy drive protector insert. The Atari Mouse has only been used once -- to take the photos -- and comes in its original bubble wrap. Still has styrofoam ball protector intact. I also have some sort of Beetle mouse which doesn't appear to work. Comes with the original Owner's Manual, plus an STe Addendum sheet from Atari. SC1224 monitor -- the volume dial seems sticky, but otherwise produces a sharp, color picture Seagate 1096N 84meg SCSI hard drive, complete with SCSI cable and ICD adapter. Contains 5 partitions. Software apparently loaded on it includes a bunch of games (Millipede clone, Centipede clone, Hoyle, Star Raiders port, Monopoly, plus a bunch more). Original docs and disks for Master Tracks Pro MIDI software. Misc Hardware: Microdeal Clock Module plug-in, Parallel-to-Midi plug by Hands-On MIDI software, 3 brand new boxes of 3M floppy disks (bonus packs with 11 disks each!), all cables and plugs. I loved this system back in the day!

Just posted my Atari 520ST on line complete with everything. Had a few problems with the hard drive which either needs to be cleaned or replaced. Kept getting the infamous Drive A not readable error but evrything else is working. Check it out at: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 220891143364
