On ebay they have a Tron game cartridge up for sale. https://www.ebay.de/itm/324289359785 Anyone seen that cartridge before? Is the ROM available or screenshots of gameplay? Quick search on Youtube didn’t bring up anything. -
Smurf, River Raid and Pole Position by Tron. I do not collect NTSC but found these while digging through my collection today. Best fair offer gets them, I really have no idea about NTSC prices. Im in Sweden, Europe and EU but will of course ship anywhere, anyhow using whatever service we agree on. Oh, btw, thats the sun shinig on the R in River Raid, the label is not faded in anyway.

Earlier this year I finally broke out my Tron joystick only to find it didn’t work. Opened it up and sure enough the flexible ring had cracked and broken. After searching for a replacement I came to the conclusion that there weren’t any so I worked with a friend to try to make a 3D printed replacement. He came up with a pretty great design which is actually more durable than the original while retaining good flexibility. I figured I would share it with the community for anyone else looking to restore one of these Tron joysticks to full function. Enjoy! Tron Joystick insert

Here's a new DIY video on making a Tron arcade stick with Spinner and Trackball. At the end is gameplay showing it in action playing Centipede, Millipede, Battlezone, Tempest, and Typhoon 2001. Turned out to be a really fun project... and the results are really nice to look at. -

I am working in a project for the Atari 2600. And I got inspiration from the TRON movie where we control the lightcicles. I remember playing a game called ktron in linux, so that was my starting point actually. Later, I found one with almost idential gameplay which is the Surrond game for the Atari 2600. I'm very happy with what I got so far. Only time will tell... -
I've been working on the Tron Light Cycles game basically because Toby at Collectorvision asked me if I was willing to work on it. This is a game I've always wanted to make and now that I've gotten the hard part out of the way, it's safe to say it is going to happen. I've been working on this project for under a week at this point and I've run into some issues that I need answered by the Colecovision community. You see, the arcade version's screen seems to have had a larger vertical play area than what the CV seems to have. I want to make the game look as close to the original as I can, but I don't want to sacrifice making the board too small. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about. Here are 3 layouts I've created. Layout 1 (Most similar to the way the Arcade looks) Layout 2 (More room and 2 lines of text at the top) Layout 3 (Most possible room and 1 line of text at the top) Understand, I can make an ARCADE mode and a Coleco or Advanced mode that will be larger and could have more areas to choose from than just the 1 from the Arcade. Regardless of the choices, I'm still planning to have an Advanced mode that will have more obstacles, areas, and perhaps powerups of some kind. Please let me know how you guys want me to go about this. Choices: A. Arcade mode use Layout 1, Advanced mode use Layout 2. B. Arcade mode use Layout 1, Advanced mode use Layout 3. C. Arcade and Advanced mode use Layout 2. D. Arcade and Advanced mode use Layout 3. E. Other ideas. This game will have the option to play 1P vs 2P or 1P vs CPU.- 430 replies

Play online in Javatari: Two Player Tron takes place in a large virtual world just like One Player Tron But with a split screen where each player has their own view of the action! Controls are simple, players are always in motion on their light cycles, and change directions with the joysticks. The game starts and restarts automatically whenever there is a collision after a short end tune transition, and a color change indicates which player crashes. TwoPlayerTron is compatible with the all Atari 2600 consoles including the Flashback Portable but the control scheme for the second player needs to be revised to use different keys on the AFP since there is no second joystick. Our story so far - I tried some experiments with IntyColor, and one of them produced this image: Intvnut saw the image and said: He created a demo, which produces an animation like this: (Click image to animate) This was a cool animation, but in his description he talked about areas of the graphic being on "a separate plane" which to me meant that they should scroll at different rates. I wanted to see the red parts and the cyan parts scrolling at different rates... Of course, the Intellivision only has one background and one set of scroll registers, so the only way to get two or more rates of scrolling is to "fake" the extra layers by sequencing gram cards or using motion objects. The "Match 5" logo was too complex to animate with sequenced gram cards, so for my experiment I replaced it with a vertical column of red dots. I also added a Light-cycle-ish car. I couldn't match the frantic nature of Joe's flickering squares, but this is what it looks like so far... (Click image to animate) What do you think? Catsfolly

Well, finally it’s here, courtesy of Nurmix (and the Intellivisionaries) a dream has come true for many Intellivision players: The Dual Action Controller has been released! Thanks to Nurmix’s kindness, I have been lucky enough to be the first one to receive a copy of this device and I would happily share my first impressions with the rest of the community. In this thread, I will concentrate on gameplay (more information on the controller can be found here). In a nutshell, the Dual Action Controller allows the player of certain Intellivision games (like AD&D Cloudy Mountain, Tron Deadly Discs, Night Stalker and the recently released Ms Night Stalker) to move AND shoot at the same time (due to technical constrains a normal controller requires the player to first stop, then shoot and finally continue moving). Even better, Dual Action functionality allows the player to shoot in a different direction to the one where the player is moving! Moving to one direction while shooting in a different one (as seen in the arcade classic Robotron 2084) radically changes the gameplay of a shooting game. This functionality was achieved in the arcades with dual joysticks and was almost impossible to implement on home systems until the appearance of the Playstation Dual Analog controller in the late 90’s. So, having these features in some of the best and most popular Intellivision games in my perspective is a big, big deal! I have decided to start this thread to not only attract other gamers’ attention but also programmers’ in the hope that new games with the Dual Action feature could be created for our beloved console. So please feel free to share your Dual Action gameplay impressions and ideas below. I am also adding a couple of high scores so we do not forget about the really important things . By the way, I am playing using a RGB modded Intellivison II with a Dual Controller connected via a pair of Nurmix’s Intellivision Flashback Controller Adapters (see photo). Please note that the Dual Action controller needs to be connected to BOTH controller ports.

Greetings Atarians! Books on videogame history still keep coming and tend to be even more focused on specific topics. A recent (Jan 2016) example is the catalog accompanying the FILM AND GAMES. INTERACTIONS exhibition, which was organized by the German Deutsche Filmmuseum. This one presents reflections, interviews and scientific considerations regarding the intersections between film and games and is a worthy addition for a gamers library. (For details click HERE ) How retro-grade is this one? Naturally Tron, Tomb Raider and Wing Commander are touched more in-depth, whereas other "oldies" like E.T., Pac Man or SW: Empire Strikes Back are at least mentioned within certain contexts. For me FILM AND GAMES. INTERACTIONS is a worthy addition to my (scientific, historical) bookshelf on videogames. Check it out, if you are aiming for completion in this domain as well.
