Hey peeps. I suddenly became interested in gaming options with NEC. I want to.be able to play Cd games and play foreign and US hu-cards. I also want to play them on my 4k tv. What do I look for without breaking the bank? (lol)

I recently received a most excellent item in the mail, an original Turbo box and cart. For someone who only had the cart and had to create everything else to "complete" the game, this is a pretty big deal. One of those games you might think you'll never find CIB and still affordable. The only minor drawback was the box in slightly rough shape... There is a lot of tape involved along with the dreaded price tag: The back has some tape issues as well: As is often the case with Coleco boxes, the sides were creased and crushed and the tabs were torn off: On the other side the tab was actually missing: The bottom flap of the box was not completely unglued but was tearing the under flap away with it: So that's what I had to work with, It looks rough but this is Coleco's rarest Intellivision release so it's worth the effort to save as much as possible. A collector like me is lucky to even have a box for this. Let's begin.....

I was wondering if anyone dumped the new version of the Atari 2600 prototype of Turbo?

Hey, y'all. I'm in the process of spring cleaning over @ Amibay, jettisoning some goody oldie PC hardware. Figured why not try and oust some of my vidjagame stuffs here, while I'm at it? So I pulled out a LOT of stuff. Here's most of what's available: Systems: - Turbografx-16 w/Turbo Booster - Mega Drive 2 (two different models) - Genesis 3 - Super Nintendo (European, console only) - Super Famicom (console only) - Game Boy Advance (white) - Game Boy Advance SP (silver) - Game Boy Color (see-thru purple) - Atari Lynx w/original carrying case - Atari Lynx II (stuck power button; system works fine) - Super A'can (console only) - Pioneer Laseractive w/Sega PAC <- SOLD - JVC X'Eye <- SOLD - Mega Jet <- SOLD - Nomad w/original carrying case <- SOLD - Sega CDX <- SOLD - Atari Lynx II (no battery cover) <- SOLD - Game Boy Light <- SOLD - game.com <- SOLD - game.com pocket pro (green) <- SOLD - game.com pocket pro w/backlight (grey; no battery cover) <- SOLD Accessories: - Kisado Connector (Turbografx-16) - Avenue Pad 6 (PC Engine) - Arcade Card Duo (PC Engine), complete - Mega Key (Genesis) Games/software: - Doom, Mortal Kombat II (32x), carts only - Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Revenge (Turbografx-16), complete - Robotrek (SNES) - Street Fighter II' (PC Engine), complete - Galactic Pinball, Red Alarm, Flashboy Plus w/Hyper Fighting demo (Virtual Boy), carts only - Pokemon Crystal, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Gold, GB USB smart card 64M (Game Boy/Color), carts only - Socrates Interactive CD (NTSC CD32), complete - Flash 2 Advance 256M flash card w/Mother 3 translation (cart only) - GGPro flash cartridge (Game Gear) - Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls (Jaguar), complete I'm taking offers for everything. Please send by PRIVATE MESSAGE. I'll consider them all & we'll see what we can do. Note that I am NOT interested in trades. I have photos available for your viewing pleasure as well, just ask. Notes: The Sega systems -- with the exception of the Nomad, CDX and Laseractive which I properly protected -- have some scratches on their tops, due to them all just sort of resting casual-like atop each other in the tub. The "tub-'o-Sega-stuff" has a whole pile of controllers, AC adapters, and A/V cable thingies at the bottom, just waiting to welcome you. So if you buy a system from me, make sure to specify if you'd like something extra. So, yep. Feel welcome to get in touch by PRIVATE MESSAGE if you're interested in having a rap about this neato, OMG SUPER RARE LQQK!!* collection. Oh... and for the love of God, please don't litter the thread with annoying "PM Sent!" responses. Think of the children. Thx. * - "OMG SUPER RARE LQQK!!" is subjective.

Anybody have a decent schematic for a rapid fire button on an Atari joystick? I did some digging on Google, but couldn't quite come up with anything definitive. I'd like to make it variable and have the ability to turn it off, a la the NES Advantage (also tried to look up a schematic for that, to no avail). Thanks all!

STAC is a custom tape system I designed in the mid 80's. It was very popular in South America and spawned a myriad of clones, mostly at Chile, where Atari was very strong. Note that most clones just reused the main concept, and not copied the actual implementation. STAC stands for Super Turbo Auto Corrector in Spanish. Is has a software turbo. But I learned soon enough that the reliability of the turbo depends on many external factors. So STAC implements other features that I considered even more important. The key feature in STAC was error recovery. The Atari tape system is slow enough that it is almost unbearable to wait until some software finishes loading. But worse than this was being very close to complete the loading and suddenly getting a load error. You had to rewind and start all over from the beginning. At this point what you really wanted is to throw the tape, the recorder, and even the computer out of the window. To avoid this, STAC implements a simple error recovery. If the loader detects an error the user is prompted to rewind just a little bit. The loader then resyncs with the tape, hopefully this time the error is not repeated, and continues loading. Most errors are typically soft errors and the retry logic works very well. STAC also implements a simple zero cost RLE compression. The data is decompressed on the flight while loading. I was amazed how much this saved in some cases. Finally, although not strictly a STAC feature, I adapted for tape several titles that were available only on disk.

There is a new hardware for A8: SIO_FIFO. This device allows data transmission with up to 127kbps speed. Here is the movie with copying disk using this hardware, "US SECTOR COPIER 4" by E.Reuss and AspeQT emulator. SDX, IDE+ loader etc. also working at this baud rate. Form of device is small PCB between POKEY and mainboard. No cables, no solder (if there is a socket for POKEY on the MB). The device is yet in testing phase but will be available soon.

The most recent releases of the cassette-oriented tool Turgen System add support for the Chaos Turbo 6000 tape loading system from GDR. I would like to kindly ask anyone who has a data recorder with the Turbo 6000 upgrade to try data transfer from PC to Atari (using either cassette adapter or real compact cassette). My tests with hacked a8cas-atari800 emulator are OK, but I would like to know if everything works with real hardware. The rumor says that this upgrade used to be popular in Germany, therefore it is my hope a handful of users still have it. As the natural file format of Turbo 6000 does not allow to load all kinds of binary files (there are severe limitations), a new file format and a binary loader that allows for loading almost any binary file has been introduced too. If you are a daring user willing to try, use the following: How to use a cassette adapter to perform a data transfer from PC is demonstrated in the following video. It is just for different turbo system, but the procedure is the same Read section 23 Turbo 6000 of the product documentation to get information on the Turbo 6000 plugin This picture shows a playlist item Any additional information on the Turbo 6000 system (e.g. more file formats) would be welcome too.

I started similar topic on Polish Atari Area. http://www.atari.org.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?id=13760 I have crazy idea. What about STM32 cartridge. It will make faster only some of CPU instructions so Atari will stays Atari. For demos or to have hundred sprites on screen...? Why STM32? Its cheaper than ATMEL and more common than PIC. It is 32bit... Bigger EEPROM, RAM in MCU. There will be no new graphics, no new sound. Only massive CPU upgrade but only for some instructions. For example 256 sprites, fast 3d or vector, game with 128 sprites and sample playback on pokey (as you know MOD on Pokey eats CPU). Or I can image pictures in lot of colors (multiple pages switching). So they will be not blinking... I know there is Veronica. It is beautiful but price of 65816 is higher than STM32 (few cents max to 10 dollars). I know there is very nice Tomek8 but as I wrote PIC is not so powerful as same priced STM32... And as bonus you can get STM32 in huge quantities... I somewhere read something exactly same exists for ColecoVision or 2600... For example 6502 emulator on STM32: GITHUB https://github.com/BigEd/a6502 "On that dev board, the CPU runs at 168MHz and the emulated speed of the 6502 is 18MHz." Thats almost 10x+ faster as original Atari. And there is also 180MHz model STM32... Price is 10Euro... for STM32F407VGT6: 32 Bit Microcontroller, Ethernet MAC, Camera Interface, ARM Cortex-M4, 168 MHz, 1 MB, 196 KB, 100 Maybe we can have Ethernet too on that cartridge for multiplayer games. I can imagine NUMEN engine shooter and LANPARTY! like QUAKE! Or DUNE2 / Settlers 2 game !!! Multiplayer / online... This will adds new dimension to our ATARIs... Playing games together. New speed for CPU. Lot of sprites, pokey sample playback etc etc... So it will be turbocard but also will accelerate graphics and sound. Plus online multiplayer gaming or local LAN party as bonus. Bad or good idea? Lets brainstorm this. I can imagine games in hires with huge sprites. Or 160x200 games with ultra fast scrolling (space shooter) for example. Or vector game with samples. Or 3D demo looking almost like from Amiga 500... When price of cartridge will be 20-30Euro. Everyone will be able to buy it.

Hello Folks I have a external av mod that i plug into the expansion port of my turbo but i have noticed when playing through the AV the sound is very low and i have to turn up my tv just to hear the game. Talking to fellow owners of such mods and even internal mods they say the sound is very low. Has anyone figured out how to Amplify the sound on these mods to make the stereo louder? I havent actually owned a true Turbo Booster but im sure it probably gives better sound quality than this. Any Input would be great.

Hello! I am looking for a 6 Button controller for the Sega Genesis. I am looking for one with individual Turbo switches and a mode button. If Sega made one like this then that would be optimal but any brand will do if it's good. Also I would be interested in Sega Genesis games if anyone wants to sell a bunch for relatively cheap. That's it for the Genesis. If anyone has the Raiden game for the orginal PlayStation, I'd be interested. Also for the PlayStation, I'd be Market for a high capacity Memory Card, an original gray Dual Shock Controller and a couple of quality arcade sticks. I'm thinking of building a Raiden arcade machine that runs with a PS1.
