Morning Bubsy fans, Cruiz'in twitter this morning I was happy to see that "Bubsy" (the person playing him at Accloade) was still making comments from time to time. This one cracked me up for starters... There is still Bubsy eyeballing the swag that Sonic gets, which sadly I feel his pain as I would like to see more Bubsy merchandise too. So he's still out there. Over all the reviews of Woolies Strike Back there were many that thought the twitter activity was brilliant so keep it up, just keep it up Accolade! Hope everyone is doing well out there! -

VR Apps designed to be intentionally painful: I've saved the best for last - online ads with jarring seizure inducing algorithms sure to get your attention at any cost and deliberately by design. Share your Ninja experiences - I can get really focused writing code and everything fades to the background; I see a similar state of Zen and the art of peering into the phone occur with cell phone users in cars and on foot everywhere, and I think this is the Matrix phenomena Elon observed and tried to articulate.

I have encountered some really positive energy and posts/videos on Youtube and Twitter for both Jaguar and Lynx, mostly from what you would call newer fans of the consoles. On the flip side, there are a lot of people now getting the GD drive, and i'm noticing a lot of ROMs of IPs from AA, CJ, Carl, etc and people that are particularly flippant about stealing these and doing whatever the hell they want. I like the new energy, but there certainly seems to be a dark side; people just looking to exploit the jag scene for a few clicks and likes, no matter what the cost or at whose expense. What is your take on this emerging portion of the Jaguardom? I guess more people playing the console is better in the long run, and some will eventually buy homebrews and support the scene financially or otherwise with programming or participation. Still; I can't help but feel like I kind of liked it when AA was pretty much it for the Jaguar world. Interested in your take as always!

I feel like I did when New Horizons whizzed past Pluto, or Cassino crashed into Saturn. So much data collected that will be reviewed for years. And as Bubsy fans in the final days before Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back there is a blur of activity on Twitter of hundreds of Bubsy fans (really not kidding, see for yourself...) writing in that we will be quoting some of the best quips for months to come. But why not join in the fun while it lasts? "Bubsy" (or someone playing as Bubsy from Accolade/Black Forest) will be answering questions on Twitter clear up till October 31st! Some of the answers have been hilarious. Also activity on #BubsyNation, @BlackForestTeam, @BubsyThe_Bobcat. And there is a new Bubsy trailer! ------------------------------------ So my life has been fun tracking the Bubsy activity, work, other events, and.. learning how to hack rom images on the Atari VCS/2600. It has been the project that I think I am done, then I look at and say "well let me try this..." and 10 revisions later (that were released, about 50 on my hard drive) it went from looking like the original "Fast Eddie" rom... To what it looks like now... Now to see if I can learn how to hack sound. More Bubsy news soon!

There are TI users on Twitter... and a lot of POTENTIAL new users as well. There are various hashtags that have TI content like #ti994a or #ti99 even #ti99iuc and there are some other fun TI hashtags like #TI994AWEEKEND! There is also Reddit with their very own TI section << HERE >> And to reach a currently and mostly non-TI audience, you could go post a photo of your TI system in Reddit's "RETROBATTLESTATIONS" forum. It might just create interest in users over there to see how much fun we TI'ers are having over here.

This is an informational post concerning MAMEdev's increasing community and social media presence. == FORUMS == For decade now (since June of 2007), MAME has not had an official forum dedicated to the project and its community. There are some boards moderated by MAME developers at bannister.org covering focusing on the former sister project MESS, and the former derivative build SDLMAME (both of which have since been integrated into MAME). Both boards are still active, as they have been for a very long time, but they were never really MAME's "project home". Of course, we cannot forget the MAMEWorld forums where the frequent MAMEdev presence has given some users the impression that it was MAMEdev's official forum, while in truth it never was. Long story short, we have been quietly running a forum which has been open to the public for a few of months now. You can now visit and sign up for an account at MAMEDEV Forums. Please note that all new accounts must be approved and activated by an administrator, which currently takes hours or days, so don't panic when you find you can't post immediately after registering. Secure your handle now! == IRC == In case you missed the the announcement we made alongside the release of MAME 0.173, MAMEdev now has official presence now on IRC. In the past, many MAME developers could be found on the EFnet channel inherited from the former sister project MESS. As we've switched to a completely Free and Open Source license, freenode is a natural home for the MAME community. The freenode network has been supporting Free and Open Source communities since the late 1990s, so we're in good company there. Freenode provides features like IPv6, SSL transport, nickname registration and SASL login, cloaking and channel services. Unlike EFnet, freenode isn't arbitrarily blocking large ranges of European IP addresses, and isn't as prone to netsplits. Most IRC clients come pre-configured for the freenode network. If you're manually configuring your IRC client, the server is chat.freenode.net on port 6667, or port 6697 with SSL. Freenode also provides a web-based interface to their IRC network if you want to chat without installing a dedicated IRC client application. We have two public IRC channels: #mame for general discussion with the MAME developers and community, and #mame-dev which focuses on discussion related directly to MAME development. Both channels are open to anyone interested, but #mame-dev requires you to register on freenode and authenticate with SASL or NickServ, help at this LINK.
