  1. I never tried this cheat when I used to own the game but does anyone have a video of the vector mode in CD version of HS? I'm mostly interested in seeing it to satisfy curiosity sake. Vector graphics mode Hold Up + A + B + C + 3 During Gameplay
  2. Anyone have a Vectrex Light Pen? box I do, complete in box. Ever once in a while I take it out and draw some fun stuff with it. I remember that I took a picture when I drew a kind-of galaxy picture with some asteroid floating in space around stars as dots and some other random stuff. The light pen cost my a good lump of cash but in my opinion it's worth it. I personally love this attachment but a little.. more like a lottle to pricey for my taste. All I need is art master an vectrex and light pen and I can be entertained for hours (I have a long attention span) What do you like drawing with a light pen?
  3. Hi, as I understand it when the 2600 is powered on the PC is set by the reset vector, which is held in ROM memory locations $fffc & $fffd. But when a 2K ROM is inserted the ROM only reaches up to $f7ff. When I look at the hex dump of Combat I can see the reset vector ($f000) in locations $f7fc & $f7fd. So does the reset vector location depend on the ROM size or am I missing something ? Thanks
  4. So I was puting away my 2600 when an idea hit me, what if there was an advanced passthrough cartridge almost like the sega 32x. Here's a list of features it could include. -Built in bios -Extra 64k ram -Cartridge pull out protector (If you pull out a cartridge, it will reboot to the bois) -Sid chip (so we can finally have better music in our games) -Upgradeable -Dpc+ and Superchip compatible I would love to do this myself but I'm not very good with electronics nor do I have the budget to do it. XD
  5. Hi everyone I'm a fan of old video games & do some programming (mostly VB / JavaScript) and would enjoy playing around making programs for the Vectrex. Although I have programmed some simple assembly language routines on the C-64 back in the day, that would probably be a little too much work for me to be fun these days. That said, are there any higher level languages or game development IDEs / construction sets available for the Vectrex? Also does anyone make a flash card adapter (like the Harmony for the Atari 2600) to make it easy to play your game on a physical Vectrex? Finally has anyone tried making a custom "cartridge" for the Vectrex that basically lets the PC use the Vectrex as a vector display monitor (and possibly read input from the Vectrex's controllers / light pen / etc.)? I think it would be kind of neat not only for homebrewed games (including network games) but for MAME as well. With tools like Arduino & PICAXE, it should be possible to do and affordable to construct. The device I am imagining would work like this: Display adapter 1) the part that talks to the PC would acts as a simple video memory buffer that would receive coordinates from the PC for where to plot shapes on the Vectrex screen 2) the part that talks to the Vectrex would just be a simple homebrew program that draws stuff on the screen, based on the coordinates in the buffer Input adapter 1) the part that talks to the Vectrex would poll the joystick(s) or light pen and save any input to an input buffer 2) the part that talks to the PC reads the buffer and via the device driver, shows up as keyboard or mouse input, to control the game or emulator on the PC (since the joysticks are analog, it might map a 2nd "virtual" mouse for 2-joystick games, or include an option to convert the joystick inputs to digital as pc keypresses). If this exists, where can you order one (or find the instructions to make one)... If not, where would you find people to work with or discuss such a project? Thanks!
  6. XTREME BEAM VECTOR ARCADE, featuring STAR CANNON, is now available for download on the App Store for iPad and iPad Mini. Star Cannon, is of course, the first game to appear in the app. I am sure everyone here on this forum will recognize what classic vector game inspired Star Cannon.. You could say that Star Castle has been my muse for a long time.. The plan is for the app to eventually contain multiple vector games, including games with more original concepts. Care was taken to create an app that draws vector lines on the screen in a very similar manner to vintage vector arcade hardware. The app replicates a black and white, bi-level, vector monitor with color overlays. Choose the CLASSIC COLOR overlay for the vintage look or DYNALAY for a dynamic color changing overlay, something that was not possible back in the day.. Or just play in black and white for that bare, white line vector monitor look. Screenshots don't really do the app justice.. You need to see it running on an iPad to fully appreciate it! Set the iPad brightness control to manual and turn the brightness on your iPad screen up to about 75% to 80% intensity for the best simulated vector monitor experience. 7. I have some fascination with vector, particularly when it comes to graphics. I noticed that after 1984 or 1985, there have been no arcade games that used vector. Why is this? When was the last vector arcade game released and what was its name?
