Greetings folks, Just an FYI for anyone looking for reprinted out of print programming books to try Lulu.com I have used Lulu before but this time I found a book I have been desperately looking for years. I have been wanting the Compute! published books Programming the 64 and Programming the Vic by West and was able to find the 64 on Ebay, but the Vic one appears to some rare air to find. I love West's two books for the C64 and Vic and have been wanting them for many years. I even went as far to email libraries in Texas once I found out they had the Vic book to offer them to buy it, however all of them could not sell the book to me.. I visited lulu and it looks like someone just recently uploaded the PDF and Lulu has made Programming the Vic for reproduction. I am just passing this on to anyone who may be looking for this awesome Vic 20 book! The printing is done well and it is the same size of the 64 original one and the binding is excellent. I also bought another copy (I have the original) of the Butterfields Machine Language for the C64, 128 expanded editions. The Butterflied book is printed much smaller but still looks good, I was surprised they went with the small size when it should be the same size of the West book. In any case I am not connected to Lulu and do not make any money or get anything from them.. I just wanted to pass on a place for anyone who was looking for these tough to find books and do not mind a reprint. The books were very reasonable priced. I put a few screenshots here for anyone who might be interested. I hope anyone who is interested in Assembly Commodore programming can find this knowledge useful for them. If anyone here is looking for these

Hi everyone! Just got my first commodore VIC 20 today! Nice clean looking unit. I'm already enjoying it, but I was surprised to find that a few keys are not working. I took off the keys and I can't get them to work even when I manually press the 'posts' that the keys interact with. Very clean, so that's not the issue. My next step would be to take apart the computer to see if the contacts on the board need cleaning, but then I noticed a pattern: The keys that don't work go every other key on the top row, with the exception of the left arrow key. Even numbers along with '-' and clr/home (mostly sure on the clr/home. Truth told I don't know what it's supposed to do exactly, but it's not doing anything atm) Does anybody with a little more experience than me have any ideas what might cause every other key on the top row to go dead? Thanks for the help!!

Hi everyone, I'have VIC20 that I bought in 80's. During this days I tried to turn on it, after 20 years well-deserved rest. If I try to lauch a game, I don't hear any sound, except like "pc speacker". Reading the manual, I found POKE comand, so If I try to digit POKE 36878,15 (volume max) and than POKE 36874,222 or 36875,222 or 36876,222 I don't hear any sound (with the tv audio volume set to max), but with 36877,222 I hear a noise like "pc speacker" Also, only once, the VIC20 connected to TV via RF modulator, the screen became grey color e it began to flicker, so I tried to connect the VIC via scart cable e TV said "no signal". Now this trouble never appereance again. I would to replace the MOS 6561-101, but I want to learn your opinion first or any suggestion is much appreciated. Thanks

Hi, I have the 3D STL files. I need to know where I can find in China to get fast and cheap (hopefully) to produce some prototyping cartridge cases for the C64 and VIC-20. For example, JLCPCB.com is excellent for PCB board prototyping -- fast and cheap. I would like to know the same but for plastic casing. Also, ABS plastic is pretty toxic I heard. Which plastic material is better? Thank you!

Got my FE3 (Rev 10) late last week from Sinchai, and assembled it over the weekend. I am having some trouble diagnosing what I think is an error. The unit boots up fine to the FE3 menu. I can select memory expansion configurations and so on. Accessing the Disk Menu returns me to the main screen. Starting BASIC and trying to access the contents of the SD card results in: 1 "EEPROMFS" EE 2A 13 BLOCKS FREE I have tried several SF cards from 64MB to 2GB using FAT16 and FAT32. A few of these work fine in a Jim Brain uIEC device. I have read the other threads on this but they often point to dead links. Hoping someone might know where to focus the diagnostic effort. Would appreciate any insights. Thanks Graham

Revival Studios releases new game for the Commodore VIC-20 Revival Studios has started development and publishing for the unexpanded Commodore VIC-20 home computer. Their first release is a game called Avalanche. Avalanche is a fun action game people can just pickup and play. The player has to shoot the various gems that are falling down from the top of the screen. The gems are marked with symbols and the player has to match up the symbol of his ship with the symbol on the gems. The game will automatically increase in speed, but by strategically shooting gems you can align up to 5 gems in a row to gain points as well as slowing down the game for prolonged gameplay. Game Features: - Fast, flicker free, arcade gameplay - Gorgeous Multicolored graphics - Works on the unexpanded VIC-20 The game is available on Cassette tape and as digital download. - Casette Tape+Digital download = 7,99 euros - Digital Download = 3,99 euros For more information about the game, including screenshots and packaging photos, visit: http://vic20.revival-studios.com

Hi all, Just to let you know, I've done a video of me attempting to play the insanely mad, Phantom Attack, on the Commodore Vic 20. Please leave a comment and tell me what you think or share your memories of this game. Steve. Video: http://Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_KYHT55ywA
