  1. Hey guys, The subject line says it all! Wii U games on Iomega Zip Disk? The question this video attempts to answer is...will the Wii U even format a 100 MB Zip Disk for external storage? After all, the Playstation 4/5 and Xbox One/Series X require USB drives with a minimum capacity of 250 GB, massively larger than the humble Zip Disk. Also, are there any eShop games that will even fit on the diminutive Zip Disk? Oh, and stick around for the ending where I dig out the Zip Drive’s big brother for some dual action removable drive fun! Hopefully you find this quirky and entertaining! Niles
  2. I've been playing around with the Wii U's external storage over USB ports, and wanted to see if I could get DVD-R or DVD-RAM to work with the system. I made a little video showing off what works and what doesn't. Hope you guys like. https://youtu.be/fKHOvSbQTIo

  4. Hello, all. I hope you're having a good day. The Amico's special controller reminds me a lot of these two consoles. It's hard to believe both consoles came out so long ago. What is your favorite game(s) for these two wonderful machines? Why do you consider it your favorite?
  5. Collecting physical Wii U games was one of the hobbies I picked up during the pandemic. It was harder to do than you'd think!
  6. Fo' shizzle my nizzle used to dribble down in V-A.
  7. Is there any actual game on the disc for this game?
  8. I think I could do one now. "Top 5 Rarest Nintendo Wii U Games." I could hold each one up to the camera because as of today the last one I needed arrived in the mail -- Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. In my experience these were (in order) the five hardest to find and most expensive games CIB. 1.) Devil's Third. Ironically it's not that hard to find because people don't want to pay $150+ for it, so I knocked this one out fairly early. 2.) Axiom Verge. For me I just had to wait and order it right when LRG put it on sale. I'm glad I did because it goes for $80 now. (Beat it too.) 3.) Turbo: Super Stunt Squad. I never saw this one in the wild once. I probably overpaid but I spent $75 total with tax shipping for a minty copy. 4.) Shakedown Hawaii. Sadly I was not aware of it when Vblank put it on sale. I had to buy it from an eBay reseller for $60 CIB. (Free S&H.) 5.) Just Dance 2019. The fact this exists on the Wii U is absurd, and the numerous regular Wii versions make it harder to find. $60 CIB. Honorable mentions: I actually found local retailers that had Hello Kitty Kruisers, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, Rodea the Sky Soldier, Shante 1/2 Genie Hero (Risky Beats Edition) and all of the Zelda games (new or used). Game & Wario and 2016 Olympics almost beat out Just Dance 2019, it was a coin flip. I suspect they must be small print runs, have sold poorly so no additional print runs were made, or both. Loose copies go on eBay now and then, but to get one CIB I had to buy both from Canada. PS: I know there are two print runs of Devil's Third. I don't honestly care which one I have.
  9. Not as long as I’m still shopping there!
  10. Well.... The Switch is a blast but i'm finding there is only so much to do on it. That being said my Wii U has gone back to being my primary console. Reasons: -Can watch Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon prime -Still many titles in the library that I need to explore! -My virtual console library is pretty solid at this point -Recent releases of some solid titles (Shantae, Darksiders, etc.) -More AAA adult titles that are up my alley at this time Anyone back to using their Wii U more than their Switch? Or am i the lone weirdo?
  11. With the Wii U having the gamepad screen why no DS player like the GameBoy player ? And with 3D TV's it seems like you could even play them in 3D or just 2D. I know many only like to play hand held games on hand held systems and a GameBoy player would shrink the screen size on a TV but I know there are some who like to have the option to play on the TV. Since you can play PSVita on TV with the PSVita TV system you would think Nintendo would make it possible too. Probably a stupid but I always enjoyed this option with the GameBoy series.
  12. Let me know what you've got!
  13. I just filed my taxes, and anticipate getting a Wii U with my refund. I do not have internet at my house. I do have a friend with a stable wifi, but he has two toddlers who are very curious! So what happens if I just try to run the console right out of the box without an update? Thanks.
  14. (also known as something other than politics to watch right now)
  15. Apparently some Wii U games are seeing prices spike already. Surprisingly enough Wii U Sports Club is one of them (HD Version of Wii Sports with a few upgrades.) Hello Kitty Kruisers is another, as is Super Luigi Bros U in the green case. Anyone know of anything else creeping up in price and why? I know Devils Third was, but had a re-print and people stopped caring. That game sounded like a cool idea (beat em up) but apperently the execution wasn't good. Too bad... Share your tales of Wii U rarities here. What do you think will be rare soon? The two disc Bayonetta comes to mind...

  17. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME NEW CASTLEVANIA!?! So I did a google news search of "Castlevania", and supposedly there are two new titles coming out. The first is a sequel to Lords of Shadow, and is rumored to be available on the Vita and upcoming Wii U. The second is a platformer for the 3DS, which was described as a platformer with two playable charecters and a co-op mode. I'm not sure if this refers to simultanious New SMB type co-op, or weird Portrait of Ruin co-op. I am very excited for some new Castlevania handheld titles, as these are long overdue. Metroidvania seems to fit in with Nintendo portable like a fish to water. I'm not too sure how I feel about the LoS 2 game for Vita; my gut tells me that it will end up being a lot like the 360 release, visually stunning but not much of a game. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing a platformer on the Vita either. Anyone who has played Rayman Origins can attest to the the Vita's platforming chops. Comment and speculate away!

  19. This seller went above and beyond the call in packaging my purchase! Took a while to get inside.
  20. I'm curious if there's any collectors of this out there, and if you like the way the characters are designed. Are you using them with your Wii U, or are you just collecting them? I have a 3DS and no accessory to play them on (yet), so at the moment they are staying in their packages and are part of my Nintendo collection. There was so much hype on the release of these devices, so did they live up to the hype they received in your opinion, or are you in general disappointed with them? I picked up the Mario figure this morning, and personally find the figure well done and detailed. Are you collecting just a select few of these are are you getting all of them as they get released? There seems to be plenty all over the place (Walmart, Gamestop, Best Buy, etc), but did you find shortages and couldn't get a particular figure before Christmas, and are you still having trouble locating the ones you want now? I wasn't planning on getting these, since in particular I don't have a Wii U and will have to wait for the peripheral for the 3DS, but I love the way they display. What are your thoughts on collecting these from Nintendo? Do you like them? Are you obsessed? Were you not impressed? Do you think they'll become harder to obtain down the road (1st release in particular) and do you think the prices on the first runs will increase exponentially? I'm mostly curious as to what people out there at AtariAge think of these figures and how they play if you do have a Wii U you can play them on. Thanks for your thoughts. Steve
  21. So the Switch got me excited about Nintendo again, but there just isn't much to do on it right now. I have Zelda and Bomberman but haven't had time to get into Zelda yet really. I also need a dock for my upstairs TV before I can make it my "main" new system. That being said, craving more Nintendo i've found that my Wii U still has a lot to offer, much more than the switch right now i'd say. With something like 30 games and a 2TB hard drive hooked up, as well as 4 wii motes and 4x pro controllers, it's been getting some serious hours this past week. I have been playing Shantae, Bayonetta 2, and Wonderfull 101 by myself. With the wife and two friends last night we played a couple of games of Mario Party 10, some Mario Kart 8, and some Wii sports club. Happily re-discovering and logging some serious hours on my Wii U, and loving it. Has the switch (or NOT being able to get one) caused anyone out there to do the same?
