My questions are simple really. I have a chance to get a Kinect for the 360 and I was wondering if that particular piece of hardware is worth it or not. I remember years ago going to a friend's house and playing a bunch of minigames, but I didn't spend enough time playing to make a purchase decision. Also, how much would you pay for it? I don't want to spend too much money on a thing I don't see myself playing all the time. I know some games are cool, like Kinect Sports or Dance Central, but other than that nothing comes to mind. Are some of the "better with Kinect" labeled games any good, like Skyrim or Forza? Or is it just a dumb gimmick? I did some research online, but there are barely any video reviews out there. Finally, can you control the console using voice to turn on/off, launch games and apps and other things? I assume you can, but I don't know if it's responsive or just old tech that sometimes works and it's kind of cool but that's it. Thanks in advance!

Hi! I'm looking for some hard to get Xbox 360 and Xbox One games but I don't really know what to look for. To be specific, I'm looking for the regular edition of some games and not special editions. Although most special editions tend to go up in price quickly, they are extremely expensive where I live. I think the only hard to get game I have in my collection is a sealed copy of Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 for the 360 which costs around $40, but I paid around $10. I haven't opened it yet, but I might play it in the future. Also, I saw a copy of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for the Xbox One, but I didn't buy it because I'm an idiot. That game costs around $45 because there aren't that many copies around and the digital edition has been de-listed for licensing issues. So any other games I should be on the lookout for? Thanks in advance!

I just found out that you can play original Xbox games on the 360 and since I have a copy of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in my collection I wanted to play that really bad. Apparently, that game's supported on a list I found online (I think Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive list of compatible games.) But as soon as I try to launch the game on my 360, I get an error message saying that it's not supported. The only thing I can come up with is that as a requirement to play original Xbox games on the 360, you need an official HDD. I think I read that somewhere and I hope someone here can double check that. The 360 I have has an unofficial HDD installed with a bunch of game, so maybe the hard drive is full? Since I've never played an original Xbox game on the 360 I don't know how that works. I don't know if the game just launched or if I need to install something, so if anyone here can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

Well, I've done some more experimenting and have managed to find a way to attach wired PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers to the 5200 to play the games that offer digital controls (as opposed to the analog-only games like Missile Command). This required a number of video game controller adapters/cables and a USB power supply. Here's how it's done: The adapters needed to get the wired PS3 controllers compatible with the Atari 5200 are as follows: 1) a 15 pin PC Gameport controller to 15 pin Atari 5200 adapter. These are obtained by contacting Atariage member, bohoki. He makes these for under $20 (shipped within the U.S.). 2) An adapter that converts Atari/Amiga/Sega controllers with a 9 pin connector to a 15 pin PC gameport. These are available on Ebay from "Ikonsgr74" and can be obtained for under $20 (shipped anywhere in the world). 3) A Tototek Joypad Convertor version MD (for Playstation controller compatibility on the Megadrive/Sega Genesis). These adapters are under $30. 4) A Brook Game Controller Super Convertor for adapting a PS3/PS4 controller to a PS2 console. These can be had for under $40. 5) a USB splitter cable ($12 or less). 6) a powersupply with a USB cord (5Volts) OR a USB Hub with connected power supply. To get the Xbox 360 controllers compatible with the 5200, you'll need one additional adapter. It is the Mayflash Universal Adapter for Xbox360/PS3/PS2/PC USB. These may be found at Amazon. Current price for these on Amazon is $30, but that is subject to change. Mayflash adapters tend to become scarce and go up in price. If any of you have interest in a video presentation on this (as well as a quick explanation of how to fix a potentiometer controller problem) here's the link for that:

Hey, me again. Among some other finds secured from Habitat for Humanity was 3 Xbox 360 units in various conditions. Two are Xenons while one is a Jasper. I am disinclined to try and even test the Xenons because what's the point? I did scavenge the heat sinks from them and will hang onto them for spare parts should the need arise. The Jasper actually turns on and shows the NXE, but after a short amount of time, the display turns off, the fan speeds up, and it flashes two red lights on the left side(I believe it's 1 and 3) of the ring of light. I have since cleaned out the Xbox, removed the heatsinks and cleaned/applied fresh thermal compound, and tried running the system again. Still turns off after a short time and flashes the error code. So I installed two copper heatsinks from the two Xenon motherboards since I have read they are a bit better for heat dissipation than the aluminum blocks that came with the Jasper. Same behavior. So I even went so far as to solder a wire on the underside of the board to pull additional power to run the fan at full speed all the time(single wire 12 v fan mod). This time the system ran for a few minutes this time before eventually doing the same thing. I'm pretty much at my wits end as far as thinking of possible solutions. It does look like this system was previously tinkered with, possibly even recapped, and so who knows what might have happened to it for it to end up being sold to me for $3 as a parts machine. Short of trying to rig up some kind of water cooling system - which I have no experience doing and would quite probably be overkill for an xbox I would like to RGH - I don't know what else could be done to keep the processor cool or identify what the deeper problem is. *edit: There is one other thing I could try, but I don't know if it would actually help, and would probably push me past the point of no return. One of the Xenons had a bunch of washers and bolts in lieu of the x-clamps, so I assume it was an RROD x-clamp fix/mod to apply more pressure from the heat sink to the chip. I kept the washers/bolts so it's something I could do, but I don't know if it would have an appreciable effect as far as providing a more secure connection from the heatsink to the chip, thus preventing overheating, or if it would simply damage the BGA.

I have several iterations of Guitar Hero and Rock Band for the 360 and I used to have three guitars and the Rock Band drumset, but I lost sight of them a couple of moves ago. I was hoping to find a pair of the controllers in working condition that are compatible with Guitar Hero 2/3/World Tour and Rock Band 1/2.

Despite spending years with my Xbox 360, there are several games that I've missed on that console. Now that I own an Xbox One and that I started using the fantastic backwards compatibility program, I discovered a bunch of titles I've never played before. So I made a list with some of my favorite ones and the games I consider absolutely essential if you haven't played them before, here they are: BioShock Call of Duty: Black Ops Dark Souls Mass Effect Red Dead Redemption Fallout 3 Burnout Paradise The Orange Box Assassin's Creed II Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX+ I tried to include games from different genres (I'll leave a link below to my article in case anyone's interested.) So what did I miss? What are, in your opinion, some of the best backwards compatible games? Thanks and I hope you guys like the list. 10 Essential Xbox One Backward Compatible Games

I looked some of the games up but there's so many from a number of systems that it became time consuming. I'm going to go with $5 a game but boxed shipping is a flat $3.50 for as many as you buy (in the US), 1 or all or anywhere in between. All have been tested unless noted. All Dreamcast, Xbox, 360 and PS2 games have manuals unless noted. Almost all these games have been previously owned before me and they are extras or from a lot so they aren't in the greatest of shape because some people don't know how to properly care for their toys (I hate that). My evaluation of a "clean" disc is no scratches, scuffs, pitting, etc except, on occasion, maybe the fewest, finest that can hardly be seen. I don't believe any have been resurfaced. All carts that have been cleaned by me are with 91% alcohol and medical grade polyurethane foam swabs (no linty Q-Tips). Some of the Dreamcast cases are listed as broke, that mainly refers to one or both tab holding the front plastic cover on the back. While cash will get me closer to Tempest, I'd consider trades but mainly looking for the SNES older arcade game carts (Atari Hits, Mr. Do!, Frogger, etc.). PM me if interested, I can supply more pictures on request too. Atari 2600 Q Bert - cart only, label wear, Pole Position - cart only Atari 5200 RealSports Baseball Intellivision NFL Football w/overlay Genesis Sonic 2 SNES Waialae Country Club and Top Gear - cart only Genesis Madden 95 - cart only and Madden 94 - comes with manual but the bottom tab inside is broke so the manual doesn't stay in correctly, Toy Story - cart only, Barbie Super Model - CIB, Tiny Toon Adventures Buster's Hidden Treasure - C/B XBox 360 Halo Anniversary Edition - some scratches. PS 2 Nascar Thunder 2004 - a couple of light scratches, Hitman 2 - some light scratches, Splinter Cell - clean, no manual, Soldier of Fortune Gold Ed. - clean, no manual, BMX XXX - some scratches, previous rental, comes in Blockbuster case with no manual, Agent Under Fire - a couple of scratches, Vietcong Purple Haze - clean, Way of the Samurai - light scratches, disc only in Blockbuster case with no manual or cover, Ghost Recon - case and manual look good but the disc looks like hell, it boots up but I didn't play it long, I'd throw it in with the lot if you want. PS2 Rocket Power Beach Bandits - some scratches, warped sleeve, Finding Nemo - clean, Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets - clean, and The Incredibles - couple of light scratches. I'll sell the lot for $15 + ship and toss in a disc-only copy of Guitar Hero II (not pictured). I might also have an extra 8 Meg memory card laying around to throw in too if interested. Dreamcast NFL 2K - few light scratches, NFL 2K1 - light scratches, broken case, NFL Blitz 2000 - some light scratches, NBA 2K1 - few scratches, World Series Baseball 2K1 - clean, 18 Wheeler - clean, broken case, Rippin Riders - clean, Sega Bass Fishing - clean N64 Rugrats in Paris The Movie - cart only Some manuals & overlays too. $2 for the overlays, $2 each for the manuals, shipping is $2.50 in a padded envelope. Bridge for the 2600 comes with the supplement book. Coleco Gorf & Smurf are the CBS versions. Super Star Wars, Dig Dug, Pac-Man, Ghost Manor, & Dodge 'Em are a little beat up but the rest are pretty nice, flat, and clean. Thanks for making it this far.

Well, recently I picked up an arcade copy of Ms. Pac-man for my Xbox 360 through the Live marketplace. Despite it's "perfect" to the arcade, I still prefer the 2600 version over this one. Why? Probably the main reasons are: Easier in general Seems to play smoother than my Xbox version with the thumb sticks (joystick preferred) Slower pacing to the game at earlier levels So in this instance, the Atari 2600 version wins out (for me, anyway). Anyone else experience an Atari 2600 game that you prefer over the arcade version? Your experiences with Ms. Pac-man on the Atari 2600 versus some of the other versions you might have played either in the past or currently. Let me know which ones you like and why. I'm curious as to what versions of this great game people are playing these days.

I could use some advice on the Xbox 360 power supply. Recently, I bought a "used" Xbox 360 E model with a power supply that seems fine as of this post. However, I've noticed in the last few days a slight "whine" from the unit and I was wondering if this is something to be concerned about or not? The power supply is performing fine otherwise, not overheating or anything like that, but the slight whine is noticeable after you power down and it's going through the end shut down sequence. Any thoughts on this? Most people around here have owned 360's far longer than me, so your advice would be appreciated if I need to think about replacing it or just let it slide.

Looking for a complete copy of the following Halo games for the Xbox 360. I would prefer them complete (case, manual) if possible. Halo 3 Halo 3: ODST Halo: Reach Halo Wars These don't have to be limited editions or special editions. No paypal please, as I do not have a paypal account. PM me if you're selling these games and please give me a price including shipping to 05052. Now that I have an Xbox 360, I'm trying to compete series of games, and the first I thought of was Halo, as I'm a big fan of the series. If you're looking for something to trade, let me know in a PM and perhaps I have it. My other "large" video game collection is the Atari 2600, and I have some duplicates someone might want. Thanks for the help. Steve

Just wondering now that the Xbox 360 console's pulse seems to be slowing down more, how your collections are coming along and if you're able to find the games you're looking for easily, depending on the title and "rarity". Are there any Xbox 360 games that are really "rare" at this point in time, excluding imports? I just started collecting again and my local Gamestop seems to be the "best" spot to pick up cheap games for $15 and under (scored Halo 4 for $5.50 the other day). I haven't scoured Craig's List or Ebay as of this writing. Are you guys and gals getting your games complete? I prefer my collection to have instructions if available and a nice case as well. Thoughts and comments appreciated to help me grow my own collection. Steve
