Are Sega Saturn Pads rare? (psuedo plug too)

Recommended Posts

I rarely go to DP, but I posted this same question there.

Selling off more of my non-Atari collection.

I listed the remainder of my Saturn stuff for this week, and didn't think too much about it.

I started getting questions and general comments about the boxed Sega Saturn control pad in this auction...

Did I screw up by not listing this item seperately?

I did a bunch of searches looking for boxed Sega Saturn pads on Ebay with no luck. No completed auctions and no current auctions.

No responses about this at DP yet. Any info on this would be helpful.

I saw an unboxed Saturn pad recently go for $10 iirc... Also I believe you have the original type of Saturn pad (The light flimsy one with the weird D-pad). Sega switched to a differently designed Saturn controller not too long after launch. I believe it was because the original kind, like what's in your auction, had a tendency to break easily. The original Saturn system also had oval power and reset buttons. They were changed to round buttons I believe about the same time the redesigned controllers came out.

SO...The original Saturn controllers have to be quite a bit more rare because I think they were only around for a year or so... I would guess that boxed Saturn controller would get you atleast $10 and probably more like $15-20.

Okay.

Nothing to worry about then.

I would just hate to be one of those people that mixes a Quadrun in with a bunch of commons because I didn't know any better.

Thanks for the heads up.

The pads are not rare.

The retail box is rare. That's the same situation for pretty much every console. No one saves the boxes from their extra controllers.

I usually see five to ten Saturn padw when I go game shopping. the originals and the NiGHTS pads are the ones you don't see a every single time, but they do turn up regularly.

I bet a lot of people do now. :) I do atleast...

It doesn't make much sense to save a sizable item because it may be worth $25 in 13 years.

Storage space = money, too.

I guess that all depends how big your house is. ;) I'm also very good at manipulating tons of items neatly into small spaces. :D
