Problems with Phantom II

I am enjoying the Phantom II cart but for some reason I cannot get it to switch game variations as it says in the manual

It says to hit reset and go to game 1 and so on but all that does is reset to the title screen.

Am I doin something wrong?

You move the joystick left/right to change the game. Fire selects.

 

If you are already playing the game, reset returns you to the title screen where you can change the game via the method described above. Hitting select returns you to the main menu.

That fixed it.

I was trying to do it with the select switch rather than moving the joystick left and right.
