Wow that's pretty damn awesome!!! And the SX64 screen wasn't that much larger either! :D

Nice! :lust:

I especially like the brushed metal look of the case. The only down side is that it sounds like it gulps quite a bit of power (a full 1 amp!) Also, wouldn't mounting the components directly on a wood block like that be just a bit of a fire hazard? I know that Ben Heck uses wood as well, but he appears to lacquer the inside of his cases so that the wood is properly finished.

I wonder if he'd consider building these to order? Nothing like being able to play C64 games and teach BASIC programming on the go.

Wow, thats a piece of work.

Though I thought the 'Hummer' DTVs had some crippling limitation when it came down to turning them into real C64 units with keyboard, serial, etc.

It's lacking the onscreen keyboard and a few other nicities that were in the C64DTV. The hardware itself is actually more hackable, I believe, with the addition of support for a user port.

Edit: It was the Joystick ports. There are none. :(

Yeah, that was it. I knew I avoided it for a good reason. A C64 without joysticks is uhhh, rather useless. ;)

Indeed. I presume he's using the user port hack to plug in the Atari mini-joystick. But the fact that games have to be hacked to work kind of limits the game choices. :|

Commadore is (or was) working on a real portable device, it would have had PDA functions, GPS and complete C64/128 compatability. Havn't heard much about it since though.

It is really creative and well made, it was well made even though it was out of wood.

Very cool!

Except that the keyboard looks like a nightmare. But still, awesome! :)
