Should I upgrade my HD driver?

I have AHDI driver 4.06, circa 1990 on my Mega STE right now, that's the way it came when I got it, everything works fine, so is it all that important for me to upgrade to a newer driver? What advantages or bug fixes do the newer versions have that will make a real difference in my ST/HD use? Are some crashes due to HD driver problems that a newer version would fix?
