Skywalker #2 Posted June 17, 2002 what are RPG's? I've read that abbreviation several times but I dont know.... call me a newbie or what everthats supposed to mean. Ive been playing video games for over 20 yrs....
Adrian M #3 Posted June 17, 2002 Final Fantasy II and III are pretty rare to find COMPLETE with box and manuals. Ogre Battle is supposed to be difficult to find. Though I've seen copies floating around regularly. Ninja Gaiden Trilogy is pretty hard to find. That's all I can think of at the moment. It's mostly the RPG's like Chrono Trigger and Harvest Moon and slow paced games like that which had low production runs that are the most rare.

MattyXB #6 Posted June 18, 2002 Final Fantasy II and III are pretty rare to find COMPLETE with box and manuals. I think the most problems are the maps. I miss the map from Final Fantasy II. First I have not known, that there is a map, but now I search for it. Most they are without it. And if they complete, the prices go higher and higher. I own most RPGs and Adventures, they are not so Rare, but most pay good for them. The rarest RPG I own is maybe Final Fantasy IV Easy Type (Japanese). This is the same as Final Fantasy II. The other version Final Fantasy IV (Japanese) is much harder, but easier to get. And the Rarest game from SNES I own is Starwing Competition (same as Star Fox Competition, but all in german). My RPG List (SNES): Chrono Trigger (Japanese) Chrono Trigger (NTSC) Final Fantasy II (NTSC, miss only the map) Final Fantasy III (NTSC) Final Fantasy IV (Japanese) Final Fantasy IV Easy Type (Japanese) Final Fantasy V (Japanese) Final Fantasy VI (Japanese) Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (NTSC) Mystic Quest Legend (PAL, german) Secret of Mana (PAL, german, I think) Secret of Mana (NTSC) Seiken Densetsu 3 (Japanese) Super Mario RPG (NTSC) Zelda (PAL, german) And some more from Dragonquest, Lagoon, and others. KAZ #7 Posted June 18, 2002 I have a Final Fantasy 3 complete in the box....I've kept it in awesome condition on purpose, because I love the game. Same thing with my Legend of Zelda. I even left the seal of the tip booklet intact!!

Adrian M #9 Posted June 18, 2002 Final Fantasy II and III are pretty rare to find COMPLETE with box and manuals. I think the most problems are the maps. I miss the map from Final Fantasy II. First I have not known, that there is a map, but now I search for it. Most they are without it. And if they complete, the prices go higher and higher. . The FFII map really wasn't very useful, but it is necessary to consider the set complete. I got this game for my birthday and when the Saturn came out, I TRADED IN my entire SNES collection for the Saturn and a few games. The sad part is, I think I got like $15 of credit for my complete FF2. The thought of all that potential profit wasted makes me ill to this day. Here's something not many are aware of...Final Fantasy MYSTIC QUEST came with an offer for a free 60 page strategy guide. How many of you have that? I have one and let me tell you, it's a fantastic guide considering it was free!
Adrian M #10 Posted June 18, 2002 Wow,nice list.Is Space Megaforce rare??? Ah yes...Space Megaforce. The SNES' answer to Blazing Lazers/Gunhed on PC Engine! Yeah, that's sort of a rare game, but the trouble is, there was never really a market for that game hence the value being somewhat low. But thanks to the recent resurgence in interest for shooting games, who knows. You may catch the eye of a collector who wants or needs this game. Andrew #13 Posted June 18, 2002 As for rare SNES games, I know that Ogre Battle, Earthbound, Ninja Gaiden Trilogy and Harvest Moon are rare and pretty collectable. Throw in the strategy guide alone for the RPGs (especially Earthbound) and you'll have to drop another $50 for the game. I've only played Earthbound and Harvest Moon, but they are well worth the price of admission. Mega Man 7, Mega Man X2, and Mega Man X3 all fetch a pretty penny as well, due to their cult status, but I could never really find the patience to play them -- or any of the Mega Man series. KAZ #14 Posted June 18, 2002 You know it never dawned on me before you guys started this thread that my Final Fantasy 3 or Mega Man X could be very valuable. I have the Mega Man X box too. I guess time is passing, and these games are becoming just as rare as some Atari 2600 games. And how would you rate a Final Fantasy 3 if you have to give it a "rarity rating" very much like Atariage? Maybe this subject never dawned on me because it never occurred to me that I'd ever give up these great games. On my collection "trail" I plan to make pit stops along the way to more recent systems like NES and SNES. I already have a good jump on several games for the SNES, and these I've owned originally. I still remember my first game for the SNES...it was Street Fighter 2 (the original), and I actually bought the GAME before I ever owned the SYSTEM....how's that for loving a game?? MattyXB #15 Posted June 18, 2002 And how would you rate a Final Fantasy 3 if you have to give it a "rarity rating" very much like Atariage? Not very high, I can get many of them here in germany too. There are many on Ebay. The prices go high, but the game is not so Rare at all. Maybe if this is complete then this is a bit Rarer, but its not so hard to get. So maybe a 6 or 7, or maybe an 8. But I know no Real Rare game for Snes. Maybe some Japanese releases like Final Fantasy IV Easy Type has a 9 - 10, which is very hard to get. Or the Competition games like Star Fox / Starwing Competition and Donkey Kong Country Competition a 10. But most (USA) NTSC games are not so Rare. ubersaurus #16 Posted June 18, 2002 Megaman X is common. I've seen less X2s and X3s then X though.
