Xbox and Xbox 360...can u multi-link these?

Recommended Posts

I have the 360, my buddy has (orig) Xbox. We both have Forza Motorsports. I've got 2 TVs. Can I get one of those link cables so we can play against each other on seperate systems?

Yes. But, don't bother buying one of those link cables. All it is is a crossover cable. Go to any computer store and buy a Cat5 crossover cable and it will work. You can also use regular straight-through Cat5 and connect through a switch, hub, or router. The MS branded "System Link Cable" (crossover cable) is a ripoff.

As long as both copies of the game are for the original XBox then you can play system link. This goes for any BC game with system link (unless otherwise noted in the MS bug notes.)

You can also play back up games system link that are on the regular XBOX's hard drive if you ever go down that road. If you like FPS you should look into the Co-Op mode in Doom 3. Its a blast to play.

You can also make a cross over cable by cutting a regular netowrk cable and twisting the correct wires together. Have done that a few times in a pinch.

Here is a link how to make one with a crimper. But the wire diagram is all you need to make the cable
