moycon #1 Posted January 19, 2007 Crackdown has gone gold already and it doesn't get released till late Feb. I myself plan on pre-ordering this game soon...The question is, are folks buying it for the Halo 3 beta invite or the game itself? I was never a huge Halo fan, I have yet to play Halo 2. Don't get me wrong, I played through most of the first one and enjoyed it, but never took my Xbox online and I think that's a huge part of the lasting appeal. I guess I for one am not neccesarily motivated by the Halo beta, and according to IGN forums most folks over there aren't pre-ordering for the beta, altho I find it hard to believe all these folks have made this gone gold just because they want to play Crackdown. PuddWakkr #2 Posted January 20, 2007 I'm getting it for Crackdown. I really dig the graphical style of the game and from the vids I've seen the world looks huge. I'll know for sure once the playable demo gets released soon. The Halo 3 beta is just a nice bonus thrown in.
SomeGuyWithDSL #3 Posted January 20, 2007 I was already set on getting Crackdown, but the Halo 3 beta did make me actually pre-order the game in order to pick up one with the beta code.
xenomorpher #4 Posted January 23, 2007 (edited) Heads up guys. If you didn't already know, there will be a demo for Crackdown around 2AM(PST) the 23rd and it has online Co-Op but I don't know if it will have split screen. PuddWakkr #5 Posted January 24, 2007 Cool demo. Really BIG at 1.2 GB though. I just let it download overnight. It lets you play for an hour and that seems to be the only restriction. Controls take a big crap on the GTA scheme as it has real 3D controls (left stick moves guy, right stick moves targeting reticule ALA Halo). There is alot of stuff going on in the city as it is really busy looking. First impressions are good, gonna play for another hour now. Really looking forward to trying the online co-op in the demo so Starscream get to downloading.
moycon #6 Posted January 24, 2007 It lets you play for an hour and that seems to be the only restriction. Actually I ran into some boundaries. This game is pretty much what I expected Saints Row reversed (as in you are a cop instead of a hood) set in the future. and at the same time not what I expected. So well done it's a must buy. Whoever said earlier this looked like the worst 360 title ever was sadly mistaken. I love games where you explore and level up your character...Did you guys find the Agility Orbs? There's 500 of em hidden!! And every one you get boosts your agility, before the end of the game we'll be tearing across the cities rooftops like Spider Man! I also found other Orbs that supplement you abilities. Very cool. Saints Row was a pretty game...but not this pretty. I had flash backs of Omikron playing this game (and can't wait for Omikron 2 to hit the 360) The 360 graphics just seem to get better and better. Yeah Yeah I know graphics aren't important. Sure they aint. I really got into this game. Gonna pre-order it for sure now.
PuddWakkr #7 Posted January 24, 2007 Yup I just found a blue wall. Must have locked you into one part of the city ( guess 1.2 GB was big enough for a demo download ). Funny I thought the same thing about the spiderman comparison. I just beat the third boss person in the demo and by that time was running out of time to make it to the fourth. My agility was maxed out from finding a bunch of orbs and I just decided to go rooftop to rooftop instead of driving. Still ran out of time. Also noticed that it says something when the game is loading to the effect that your skills go up faster in the demo. Also had my strength maxed and enoyed picking up trucks and smashing them into bad guys. The game really gives you a super hero ego, something that some comic book games really should start doing *coughSupermancough*. Demo really does it's job though, just as your guys getting to be a badass and your looking to tear stuff up you see that timer counting down till the end of fun time and your not ready to quit. Count me in for a pre-order.
Starscream #8 Posted January 25, 2007 Downloaded the demo. Let me know when ya wanna play Pudd. Not working much right now so I have time
+remowilliams #9 Posted January 25, 2007 Cool, I'm downloading the demo now. As well as the Battlestations: Midway demo. Please, please, please, please don't let Midway suck! If it's as great as it could be, I may not be seen for a while.
CPUWIZ #10 Posted January 30, 2007 I downloaded it this weekend, but I am not a big fan of the game, the art-style is distracting.
ManShowBoy #11 Posted February 6, 2007 After watching a few videos of Crackdown, I think I want to trade my PS3 in for a 360 It does look pretty flipping awesome though.
Jess Ragan #12 Posted February 11, 2007 It's awesome, and I'm not even that big a fan of Grand Theft Auto-style games! Crackdown's got that fantasy element that makes a video game a video game and not just a simulation... the heroes are larger than life and their abilities are beyond belief. I do worry if Crackdown can maintain its level of excitement beyond the forty-odd minutes the demo lasts. After all, the equally promising Full Auto started out strong but ran out of gas miles before the finish line. Hopefully Crackdown's got what it takes to keep the player's heart pounding from start to finish. JR
NE146 #13 Posted February 11, 2007 (edited) ehh.. ok I've tried playing it. It's just not my bag. I guess I just really really dont like these "do anything you want" kind of games. I always end up in some alley in the middle of nowhere, kicking some trashcan around, wondering "am I supposed to be doing this?". Or, I just dont know what the heck to do, so I just shoot everybody and anything that moves. Stuff like that. Ok if you're into GTA style I guess. I'm not. I need a little more rules to "play". I didn't hear about this. Are you sure the folks aren't just playing the demo? You can take the demo online.
NE146 #16 Posted February 11, 2007 I didn't hear about this. Are you sure the folks aren't just playing the demo? You can take the demo online. I played the demo. But many aren't playing the demo anymore... At least not since the game has been widely available on the internet over the past 3 days or so.
PuddWakkr #17 Posted February 11, 2007 No mention of a beta code in the nfo. So I'm guessing all the pirates are not going to be playing a legal version of the Halo 3 beta. Kinda stinks - the leet firmware modders get crackdown way early and will probably get the beta way early as well. I almost wish Live sucked hard so I'd have a good excuse to unplug the 360 from the router and get to work on that dvd drive.
ewing92 #18 Posted February 12, 2007 i downloaded the demo and it looks as if it will be a great game, the driving took a little while to get used to but after about 20 minutes it was great. I played the demo twice, and had fun both times, didn't really play it online yet tho.
IronMongeR #19 Posted February 14, 2007 I'll get it just because there hasn't been much around since December, but I'm not too bothered about the Halo 3 beta.
javiero #20 Posted February 16, 2007 I just got the game today, and it's been available on my area for a week. It has the sticker for the halo 3 beta and a legend that says " Prohibida la venta antes de febrero 20, 2007"....what can i say.
+kisrael #21 Posted February 24, 2007 Ok, played through this. It was a solid game... probably shouldn't quite have been enough to sell me the system, but hey... Wii60 makes a lot of sense. The gameplay is actually very much like Mercenaries, plus cityscape (maybe the best city design I've seen) and super powers, minus tanks. Pudd, if you want "superhero ego" I got one game for you: Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. In retrospect the magazine ad for this game is deceiving... it makes it look as if a truck running into you would then have a nice you-shaped indent in its hood where it was stopped cold... in the game, not so much, but Hulk feels like it could've done just that. The feeling of power is TREMENDOUS.
jay2068 #22 Posted February 25, 2007 Been playing the heck out of this game and love it. But I hit a huge road block today! The graphics just started screwing up! Missing textures roads buildings, cars. It's funny seeing people driving around in invisible cars! I grabbed one and drove around awhile with it. Couldn't tell where I was as I kept hitting invisible walls, cars and such. Bad programming I guess. I reset my console several times and it still does it in specific areas. might be something wrong with my saved game
xenomorpher #23 Posted February 26, 2007 I was going to buy this after I get Lost Planet, but found out Guitar Hero 2 is coming out April and decided to invest in it instead. I had a blast playing the demo and loved how the car handled and the atmosphere. Not a huge fan of the cell shaded style though.
NE146 #24 Posted February 26, 2007 Allright the game has kind of grown on me. The fun in this game is Powering Up. So while I was just doing what I was saying above.. i.e. goofing around, eventually I realized my guy kept getting stronger and could jump onto rooftops, etc. So that's the appeal of the game really. I'm just about finishing the killing the spics and I guess eventually will move on to the chinks.
moycon #25 Posted February 26, 2007 Allright the game has kind of grown on me. LOL I figured... I kept checking my friends list and everytime I did you were playing Crackdown.
