Phantom #1 Posted January 20, 2007 (edited) Controller connector or the originals? I am thinking about getting it because I want a top loader but from the unclear pics Ive seen, it appears as though they are SNES type controllers...i need the originals because my remote control wont work if its an SNES input. Please someone let me know and if you know if any top-loader has the original NES controller inputs? Thank you, Ant Edited January 20, 2007 by Phantom
n8littlefield #2 Posted January 20, 2007 I'm gonna site whore a little bit (please forgive me)...but I put a ton of work into this: http://www.runjumpshoot.com/content/11/1/N...39;s-Guide.html Basically, the original Yobo and the Generation NEX are two most popular of the clones. I personally suggest the NEX.
+remowilliams #3 Posted January 20, 2007 (edited) I'm gonna site whore a little bit (please forgive me)...but I put a ton of work into this: Nice job It's tough for people to pick through this stuff, and that does help. You forgot the Blaze Retrocon though Its a sturdy little unit (more so than the Yobo) and is the only one I've seen with a PAL/NTSC switch on it. Basically, the original Yobo and the Generation NEX are two most popular of the clones. I personally suggest the NEX. Yeah, I've got a load 'o' clones, and I'd agree with that provided that you need a NES type socket on your console (per the OP). Otherwise the FCTwin (discussed Here and Here) is so far pretty unbeatable, and is definitely my favorite. n8littlefield #4 Posted January 21, 2007 I would have liked to include the Blaze Retrocon (I'm assuming that's the one I've heard they have at Compusa.). Unfortunately, I really had to go with what I had available, I own an NES & a Yobo. I borrowed a Model 2 (but forgot to snip pics while I had it). Playmessiah loaned me the NEX and a set of wireless pads.
Phantom #5 Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) Hey thanks a bunch, that was very informative...now the NEX will not play any Koei games? Im really wanting a NEX since it appears to have my remote control sensor built in if I read that right? DID I? Which would mean batteries and off I go...but if i cant play my one of my Favorite Games, Genghis Kahn, on it... then Im screwed in a dilema..do i keep my NES just for Genghis Kahn? Can someone tell me if GK works on the NEX pretty please? Thanks for everything already but now im a bit frutrated if GK wont work on it. NEX, NES 2 or Yobo Cheapie? 3 most important things is A> It plays Chiller and gun attachment works and B> It plays Genghis Kahn and C> It can use my Remote Control Joypads..anyone? any of these do all 3? jboypacman #7 Posted January 22, 2007 I was reading in the link where it said the Yabo system will not play Castlevania 3.One of our local "Mom and Pop" game shops sell these and i got to play on it a little bit and while at first we could'nt get Castlevania 3 to work.I hit the select button one of the times i try to play it and it worked.I try it a few more times and the same thing happened. So i dont know if this just a glitch with the Yabo or what but it might be worth looking in to.

Don't know about Ghenghis Kahn, but the lightgun works on the NEX and it plays Chiller just fine. Castlevania III does not run. On a related note, it's nice to see that Messiah finally updated their compatibility list with entries like 'NO' instead of 'Need to find another cart'
mnbren05 #9 Posted January 28, 2007 Yeah I thought my Castelvania III was broken until I tried it in my toaster. The yobo works well with most games that I have and is small and lightweight. The NEX has trouble with River City Ransom. The colors get washed together and it freezes.
