Letting Go of Systems?

Recommended Posts

I am getting rid of my Jaguar too, for much the same reasons. I imagine I will regret doing so, however. I'm sure the Odyssey will be the next one on the chopping block.

Every system I've let go, I've regretted it. Which is why I don't sell off my stuff anymore!

The Jaguar has a few good games. I admit, I don't play it that often. But these systems (especially Atari) become like family members to me. I could no more sell my Atari's than I could my 3-year old son.

KEEP IT! Just sell games that are worth a decent amount and that you don't care about. I don't care what anyone says, EVERY single videogame system I've played (atleast 15) had more than 1 game I REALLY enjoyed...

I take it you've never owned a Channel F ;)

Oh yeah? How about $500 plus a CV multicart for your son?

I've sold more systems than I care to think about and some I have regretted whilst others I was glad to get rid of. My advice think about it and if you definetly can live without it then get shot and invest in something you do care about ;)

Currently thinking of letting go of my Playstation 2 sometime soon. Would like to see my local Wal-Mart actually carry Wii units long enough for me to even consider buying one.

About four years ago I moved overseas, and I sold off my extensive Jag collection before I left 'home'. Now, unlike the OP, I played my Jaguar a lot: I really enjoyed some Jag games that can't be found elsewhere (AvP, B2K, MC3D, Skyhammer, BS, T2K, IS, etc.)

Back in August I realized I had a real itch to play IS again, and I broke down and bought a used Jag and cheap IS off eBay. Since then, I've bitten the bug and bought another 15 carts; some cheap, some expensive - but all have cost me more than I earned when I sold them. I don't regret restarting another collection though; I love my Jaguar! :lust:

If the OP really doesn't enjoy his Jaguar collection, he should sell it to others who will, but if there's anything at all he enjoys he should hang onto it - even if it's just a base console with one controller and a copy of AvP.

You'd be right about that one. :D

I just took a look at your Jag system. It's no wonder you never play it! Look at the selection of games...

T2K, Pinball Fantasies, Checkered Flag, Fever Pitch Soccer, WMCJ, Alien vs Predator, Bubsy, Cybermorph, Vid Grid, Blue Lightning
With the exceptions of T2K, AvP, and maybe Cybemorph, this is a really poor selection of games for the Jaguar. If you judge a console by the likes of Checkered Flag, Bubsy, or WMCJ, of course you're going to think it's terrible! You're giving up on the Jaguar without ever really playing it! Where are Iron Soldier, Super Burnout, Breakout 2000, Missile Command 3D, SkyHammer, Atari Karts, etc...?

I bought a Jaguar and 2 games off of McGrail over the summer and played other games I borrowed from friends. I really did not enjoy it that much and sold it maybe 2-3 months later.

My suggestion is sell the system and a few games but possibly hold onto some rarer ones or if you have any complete games. That way you can always use the games to trade for something you want at a later date and keep them in a good home.

I must be the exception to the rule then because I have a Fairchild Channel F and I like it a lot. The fact that it's such an oddball system is what makes it so enjoyable.

Top that off with a lot of it's games were actually good (probably due to no third party, and a short enough lifespan that it didn't get dumped on as bad as most systems)
