Mock #1 Posted January 27, 2007 Are any of the Holiday carts in the rarity guide? I looked under homebrews and didn't see them....were any of the ROM's ever released and is there a section about them anywhwere other than doing a post search...which i've done...just curious if they are documented anywhere else on the site like the rest of the games are? +Nathan Strum #2 Posted January 27, 2007 I think only Reindeer Rescue has been released as a ROM (available here). I don't think Holiday Qb ever will. Toyshop Trouble probably will at some point. I don't think they're in the database simply because Albert hasn't had the time to add them.
CPUWIZ #3 Posted January 27, 2007 Toyshop Trouble probably will at some point. Won't do anybody any good, if it would be released.

Maybe someone will sell their cart on eBay and you can play it that way. The cart uses special hardware that at present is not supported in any released emulator nor code loading device (Kroc, CC2, etc.) other than officially-purchased Toyshop Trouble cartridges. Mock #7 Posted January 27, 2007 hmmm...it would be cool if Al has time to make a page for them...there are a few now and it would be fun to step back and look at them over the years...they've come a long way since the original concept
jbanes #8 Posted January 27, 2007 Supercat recently showed me the board he used for Toyshop Trouble. He's managed to replace the usual PLD for bankswitching with a dual 4-input muxer chip. (Yeah, I don't understand how he has enough pins either.) Since the bankswitching is his own custom scheme, no emulator will run Toyshop Trouble correctly. On the bright side, it makes the job of soldering the boards faster and cheaper than ever.

Slanted, gold plated edge connector, just like all of my new boards.

CPUWIZ #13 Posted January 27, 2007 so the old original boards will eventually become completely obsolete when they run out? Not at all, they are just an alternative.

supercat #16 Posted January 28, 2007 More like evolution. The cartridge design used on Toyshop Trouble is limited to 8K, and it is incompatible with games designed for existing cartridges. On the other hand, it's easier to build and does offer some slight advantages if the programmer wishes to take advantage of them. The existing 8K/16K/32K cart is the most practical design for 16K and 32K cartridges.

pmpddytim #22 Posted February 5, 2007 Holiday Carts have become a tradition for me. I happened to join the scene just before the first one came out and was lucky enough to get one. I have since collected them all as they came out and they are some of my favorite carts. Just wanted to thank everyone that contributed to any or all of them. -Tim
Mayhem #23 Posted February 5, 2007 Was the ROM released for the oroginal one? Wasnt it just a graphic of a girl in a nightie? Not directly released, but the latest ROM for it was attached in the thread at the time, if you go search.
Lucky Man #24 Posted February 7, 2007 Was the ROM released for the oroginal one? Wasnt it just a graphic of a girl in a nightie? Not directly released, but the latest ROM for it was attached in the thread at the time, if you go search. I've done a couple of extensive searches for both the Holiday GreetingCart and Holiday Qb ROMs. All I found was this one (attached) that Andrew Davie posted. It seems like it's some kind of angry elf or bug (I don't know which ). But definitely not the Holiday GreetingCart. aaxmas1.zip
Mayhem #25 Posted February 7, 2007 Ah yeah, no it isn't the one on the cart. It's the previous design I think, an Atari logo wrapped in tinsel.
