Hey if you have a Stargate or Defender 2 for trade pm me! Really? It's pretty hard for a game to just "die" like that. Have you considered cleaning the contacts? Trying it on another system? Dragnerok X #4 Posted February 6, 2007 Yeah i did both. I hadn't played it in maybe a year so I don't know? Tough one. I guess if you are absolutely sure all you want it to do is work, you could try removing the label (heat the label and it will peel right off), opening the cartridge, and looking for possible internal damage. Still, if the first two I mentioned don't work I'd at least hold onto it, just in case you ever get it to work.
A.J. Franzman #5 Posted February 6, 2007 Actually, silver labels are more difficult to peel -- that's why Albert doesn't buy them as junk commons to make into homebrew games.

My Heat Gun© doesn't care what kinda label it is, it takes 'em all off in a snap

That Stargate's SARA probably died from static electricity.

My Heat Gun© doesn't care what kinda label it is, it takes 'em all off in a snap I use a heat gun also, but even with a heat gun the silver labels are notoriously difficult to remove. So much so that it's not worth my time to try and remove them. You have to get silver label carts so hot that it's much easier to warp them when doing this. ..Al
shadow460 #9 Posted February 18, 2007 Outta curiosity, if a guy were to remove a buncha silver labels, would the carts still be good for AA store credit? How much is shipping to Siberia anyway?
Albert #10 Posted February 18, 2007 Outta curiosity, if a guy were to remove a buncha silver labels, would the carts still be good for AA store credit? Yes, as long as the carts have the dust cover mechanism (as opposed to the newer Atari carts that have two holes underneath the main label). How much is shipping to Siberia anyway? Cheaper than you might think! ..Al
AtariRx #11 Posted February 18, 2007 Outta curiosity, if a guy were to remove a buncha silver labels, would the carts still be good for AA store credit? Yes, as long as the carts have the dust cover mechanism (as opposed to the newer Atari carts that have two holes underneath the main label). Several of my AA cart purchases (including Toyshop Trouble) have the two holes under the label and no dust cover mechanism. I already managed to push the label on my Starfire through one of the corners. Luckily some careful work with a toothpick got it smoothed out again.
