poker_plus #1 Posted February 9, 2007 Of the two classic games featuring voice synthesis, why is Open Sesame scarcely mentioned and Quadrun makes collectors salivate? Was Open Sesame widely available? If there are really 10000 Quadruns out there it's not that rare. I got my copy of Open Sesame for a couple bucks from an auction of "Atrai" games. CPUWIZ #3 Posted February 9, 2007 An NTSC copy? It must be a repro if it is. I have a NTSC Bobby Is Going Home and I also have a BitCorp multicart, with all of the BitCorp titles in NTSC format.

CPUWIZ #7 Posted February 10, 2007 CPUWIZ, Does the Open Sesame! on your 8-in-1 cart also contain speech? I believe so, I'll check when I get home, I normally have the sound on my TV turned off. EDIT: I checked and it does have the voice sample.

Foxsolo2000 #10 Posted February 10, 2007 Is it just me or do other people have trouble understanding the voice saying Open Sesame at the beginning of the game? Took me a while to hear it clearly enough

supercat #12 Posted April 1, 2007 (edited) Is it just me or do other people have trouble understanding the voice saying Open Sesame at the beginning of the game? Took me a while to hear it clearly enough Well, since it's about a second worth of audio packed into 848 bytes, what do you expect? I know modern compression methods can give better sound at low bit rates, but for something the 6502 could handle while showing a display I'd say OS did pretty well. Much more impressive than Quadrun. On the other hand, the programmer "blew it", like the one who did Porky's, by showing the victory scene on power-up. +atari2600land #13 Posted April 1, 2007 It says "Mommem memmamee." If I didn't know what the title of the game was, I couldn't understand what the voice says, just like in Pin-Bot for the NES. I still think he says "I am the master, that's the day of league." As for Open Sesame the game, it's OK. Not great, though.
Rik #14 Posted April 2, 2007 (edited) Those early voice games were hilarious!!!!!!!!!,like "MATTEL ELECTRONICS PRESENTS,B-17 BOMBER",that one makes me laugh like crazy, especially the word BOMBER",it accents the 2nd B in the word BOMBER...bom" BER",i get a kick out of the voice games cus the voices are sooooo bad, sounds like someone talking with their mouth full of food!. A good attempt though, considering the time they were done. Edited April 2, 2007 by Rik
