Bucket Brigadier #1 Posted February 11, 2007 Good Afternoon all, I recently picked up a copy of Missile Command TB to use with my CX-80 Trak-Ball controller. Unfortunately, when I began play, the target pipper would not respond to the ball's movements properly; it would just jitter around the starting location on the screen. Initially, I suspected the Trak-Ball controller to be the issue. I checked to be sure it was pluged in completely to the VCS, then tried again. No joy, same problem. I then checked it against the original Missile Command and Centipede on "JS" setting and it worked fine. After trying the "JS" setting on Missile Command TB, and then with "TB" selected again, I still had no success. I'm guessing that the game's ROM might be bad? Anyone else run into this and find a fix, or do I just have to get a new copy? Thanks in advance to any replies.
Thomas Jentzsch #2 Posted February 11, 2007 I suppose you either have a CX22 controller in CX80 disguise or a MCTB cart made for a CX22 or amiga mouse.
Bucket Brigadier #3 Posted February 11, 2007 (edited) Wow, I just checked the game info for MCTB; 3 NTSC variants. I'm guessing there is a mismatch somewhere, as you reccomend. The game cart says for CX-80 Trak-Ball. All of my documentation says the Trak-Ball I own is CX-80, and it is the all-black setup, rather than the CX-22's varied color set. Maybe it's a CX-22 game with CX-80 markings? Thanks again for your assistance. Edited February 11, 2007 by Bucket Brigadier
Thomas Jentzsch #4 Posted February 12, 2007 Unfortunately it is not easy to tell. Try searching ALL forums for "+cx80 +cx22". You can e.g. check this link and maybe get some information here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12344

Bucket Brigadier #6 Posted February 18, 2007 Well, I've read through some of the posts on similar issues, but haven't had any time to take any actions or troubleshoot yet; the week's been busier than usual. Thanks for checking up on me; the earliest I'll be able to make more progress is likely after Tuesday...confounded dissertation... Thanks again. Bucket Brigadier #7 Posted February 23, 2007 Okay, I finally got some time and looked further into the issue; apparently, my CX80 is likely a model designed to be compatible with the CX22 and not the ST Mouse; so I'm guessing if I opened it, it would be missing some jumpers. Someone on here had the same problem ~5 years ago, evidentally. I probably need a CX22-compatible copy of the game. Thanks for the assistance.

If you bought the copy from AtariAge, I'd be glad to exchange it for a CX-22 version. PM me for details if you're interested. ..Al
