jbanes #1 Posted February 12, 2007 Bungie's latest Halo 3 update introduces a rather intriguing new function bound to the back button of the Xbox 360 pad. The "A-Hole Button" as they're calling it brings up a score list with everyone's tag on it. By using the right stick, you can quickly select whichever player is smack-talking you into a stupor, and you won't hear from them again. "Any muted player you have selected in your Xbox Live account overrides Halo 3's new system, but that should actually enhance the choice of maroons [sic] you're editing out of your gameplay. Best of all, it means fewer wasted or frustrating gameplay sessions," Bungie's Frank O'Connor notes. Full Story: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=72864 There's also some talk about the possibility of tracking mutes as negative feedback on the player. So someone who trash talks a lot is going to have a much harder time finding someone to play against. (Other than, perhaps, other trash talkers.) Could be good for getting rid of those squeakers. Or at least matching them up together.
Gregory DG #2 Posted February 12, 2007 I like this idea. Now if it can be expanded into banning someone if they have too many ignores...
+Random Terrain #3 Posted February 12, 2007 Did you notice the "[sic]" in the article? I understand that "[sic]" is used to point out that the quoted material is a verbatim reproduction of the quoted original and is not a transcription error, but it usually seems like they are saying "hey, that guy is the dumbass, not me!" I agree with what it says on this page: http://andromeda.rutgers.edu/~jlynch/Writing/s.html Don't use sic to show off with gotchas. Too many writers sic sics on the authors they quote just to show they spotted a trivial error. Back on topic, when I get my 360, I probably won't play with other people, but if I decided to, I'd probably get muted by everyone for using the F-word too much. Actually you'd probably just get muted for being you. When are you getting a 360 anyways? You know the Oblivion expansion comes out next month!! +Random Terrain #5 Posted February 13, 2007 When are you getting a 360 anyways? You know the Oblivion expansion comes out next month!! All I know is that I will get one some time this year as long as there isn't another terrorist attack and the economy collapses and civil war breaks out because of government oppression. I will find some way to get an Xbox 360 and Oblivion and the expansion. I plan to change the look of my web site again and the new configuration might get me more money from Google and every once in a while people donate money, so I may not have to spend food money on the 360. I promise myself that 2007 is the year I will get a 360. Look out Oblivion, here I come!
