What is this? atari logbook

Recommended Posts

I know it's an atari logbook ( I can READ!)

It's similar to the red catalogs, it lists the games available inside broken up into the usual catagories (skill gallery, adventure territory, learning center etc. ) , but under the game is has a space to write your name and high score

Was it pakaged with a cart or was it a store promo or what? how many versions of it were printed?

anybody know?

I have one in not so great shape used at the time

I got mine through Atari it self I think it was a Special offer or something Parents ordered for me back then

They are not to common

especially if theres little to no writing in it

How much of it has been filled in?

They are not too common

I have a few of them. One's written in, I don't think the others are.

I seem to find them mixed in with manuals fairly regularly...

If this is the one your talking about, then from the looks of the back, yes you would send away for it from Atari. My copy still has the address of the original owner.

:ponder: :) :)

why isn't it listed with the other catologs on atariage?

I would suppose it's because, technically, it's not a catalog.

I mean, in a way it kind of is, but I don't think the primary purpose of the Log Books was to advertise games. However, I'm sure the prospect of kids seeing games in the Log Book that they would want had certainly crossed Atari's mind.

I believe they also came packed with the console in the later days just before the crash.

post-12424-1171676565_thumb.jpgI also have an Atari Logbook, but I don't know how old it is. It is in excellent condition with no writing at all. The pages are still crisp too.

We sent off for mine. My memory would need to be jogged sufficiently to remember how we sent off for it. I don't remember if it was an order form that came with a game, or an order form in Atari Age magazine.

Wow, I had no idea that my logbook was from 1978! I didn't know anything that old could stay that fresh.

32 points to be a Wizard at Star Ship? Pfsh, I routinely get 50-60.

Fun stuff though, I've never seen a 1978 Log Book.

I bought over 90 manuals for Atari 2600 games for $5.00 a few weeks back. When i brought them home I started to go through them and there was a MINT Log Book in the pile. This was the first time I've seen one of these and I was wondering exactly how rare these are. I talked to a guy who is familiar with Atari and he too said the log books are very rare but he couldn't tell me how much they are worth. Anybody have an idea as to how much these are going for?

One of the old gate-fold style games I got around the launch time had a log book with it iirc. I know I had a few of them back in the day and I never sent off for them or anything.
