NE146 #4 Posted February 14, 2007 This is actually one of my most favorite games of all time. It's a 3d platformer collectathon but it does it right, unlike DK64, which did it all wrong.

moycon #6 Posted February 14, 2007 Is this a game that will be available on Live Arcade? I've heard great things about this game, but never have played it.

super_dos_man #8 Posted February 14, 2007 but you should also check is that on the 360 the characters got a 360 make-over and theylook much less cartooney
NE146 #9 Posted February 14, 2007 Is this a game that will be available on Live Arcade? I've heard great things about this game, but never have played it. Well again, it's a simple collectathon ala Super Mario 64. What made it great for me was the environments. They run the gamut from the haunted houses (and the pipes and sewers of), the snow areas, the lava, the grass fields, the caves, the beaches, the water, the ship docks etc. Yeah it sounds generic, and the characters pretty much are, but I just think it's done real well overall. Most parts of any area are unique as well and doesnt make you think you're just treading over repeated textures (like yet another "building" or generic hill, etc.).. so it makes it a lot of fun to explore in it's own little cartoony world. Like I said, if you're going to play a "collectathon" game, from that era, this one is it. Even over Mario 64 I have only played it on a friend's N64. Great 4 player simultaneous action! Banjo Kazooie had 4 player modes??
Atariboy #10 Posted February 14, 2007 I never really considered Super Mario 64 as a "collectathon", except for the 100 coin stars in the 15 main levels and the 8 red coin stars, but that's only about 15% of the game roughly..

What else do you do in Super Mario 64 aside from collect stars? That's far more than 15% of the gameplay. SM64 is pure collectathon
Bivotar #12 Posted February 14, 2007 There is a teaser trailer at www.rareware.com for Banjo Kazooie 360. It looks amazing. I enjoyed Banjo Tooie a bit more than Banjo Kazooie. While still a collectathon, I thought Tooie was better constructed. I also even enjoyed the GBA Grunty's Revenge game (although it seemed amazingly short). This looks to be a prime example of one of the reasons Microsoft picked up Rare.
Atariboy #13 Posted February 15, 2007 (edited) I never felt like I had to collect things like in the Rare games, the stars served more as an objective to reach I felt, like hitting the flag pole at the end of a level in Super Mario Bros. Only times I felt like I was collecting anything was the stupid 100 coin stars and the red coin stars. That might just be me though, but the Banjo games felt like I was playing the 100 coin stars in SM64 constantly, and I hated it. Shannon #14 Posted February 15, 2007 Banjo Kazooie! I was just wondering about them. What with their recent exclusion from DKR DS. Anyways it was Banjo Tooie that had the neat multiplayer modes.
