Anyone want a Cisco Catalyst 1900 series 24 port swtich for $25?

Recommended Posts

I have a Cisco 1900 Catalyst Series switch...I'll take $25 for it if someone wants it? It's like brand new...has rack mounts on it.

Shipping is $10 (Its heavy)...so $35 delivered gets you some quality Cisco hardware. Great deal if someone needs a good switch...i have no use for it now.

I got a Cisco Catalyst 1700 for $9.99 shipped a few years ago off e-bay. It is in my server closet. I'm leaving it there when I sell the house.

What is the exact model #? Not all of the 1900 are autodetecting 10/100. Some of the 1900 series only had one or two 100 ports (mostly for connecting subnets).

That is how my 1700 is. Two 100 ports.

hmm....i dunno? i cant seem to find a model number other than 1900 series? There is a mode switch on it? not sure what that does? I used this thing to network my office with about 6 computers....I got it free with my old Cisco 2620 router from Sprint when i got my T1 lines...so...i dunno much about the switch other than what's on it? :ponder: I just looked on ebay and they are going for all different prices so i tried to pick one that was a little below average from what i saw...Cisco is usually pretty expensive stuff and this thing is like a tank...lol...so...figured someone might use it...i'll just ebay it if no one wants it...no biggie.

Well, just because my 1700 is worthless, doesn't mean that another model isn't worth more. If someone is looking to replace in their network with the exact same model for some reason... it might be worth quite a bit, actually. I think the thing is, for a home user, it is more the bragging rights of having a Cisco switch or router on your home office network. :)

Heh. I used to work for Cisco, actually. There has to be some plate on the back or sticker on the bottom somewhere that has the model #. They all came that way, unless it was removed for some reason.

By looking at it I'm guessing it's a 10baseT switch with a pair of 100baseT ports for connecting subnets. That's what those two ports probably are on the right. Still a very nice piece of hardware and still very useful, just older speed. Most people in their home will never exceed what that thing can do and under home use conditions it should last indefinitely.
