Found two 1970's plug and play systems at the thrift store.

Recommended Posts

I know nothing about the stand alone systems from the 70's. But i picked these two up at a thrift store the other day for $5.00 each. Did a get a good deal? Tell me about them? What are they worth and how rare are they and such?

Excellent deal :) Especially with those minty boxes, they look real nice.

I remember the Coleco one, the Sears one doesn't look familiar to me though.

Yes, good prices. Take the "Pinball Breakaway" for a spin, it's identical to the Atari Video Pinball unit. Great little system that has a few variants of Pinball and (even better) Breakout.

I've got an unboxed Atari Video Pinball PnP console in poor condition... it is worth about $12 if you can find a buyer.

These are excellent scores. I'd bet you could get between $20 to $40 each, depending on how mint the boxes are inside (cardboard inserts, etc), and how mint the actual consoles are.

But the trick is finding a buyer that REALLY wants these things. Otherwise, they could go without any bids on eBay, too... despite being clean examples.

There are a couple of sites that have price estimates on these old pong and pinball machines.

Killer find for "in the wild". I'm almost willing to bet some grandmother had them in her attic and used to break them out when the grandkids came to visit, and now all the kids are grown. This just has the look of "some old lady's grandkids are visiting closet". :)

Thats true it is kind of a niche market for these. I've done the same with a mint CIB Commodore system I found for 8 bucks. I sold it but after shipping, ebay fees, etc.. I really only made a few bucks.

I'd be mighty pleased with that Sears unit, no it wont make you rich but it sure looks sweet in the collection. I've found a lot of pongs over the years and I only keep the boxed ones myself.

The systems them selfs look to be in great shape yes. I need to test them. The video pinball is missing the power supply but I'm guessing a 2600 power supply will work just fine with it?

The video pinball will also operate on D or C cell batteries.

Turn it upside down, and there is a battery compartment down there.
