Ebay slams the door on GP32 and Game Boy Advance

Recommended Posts

300083791846 - Nintendo / Game Park: GBA / GP32 Hand Held Systems

http://tinyurl.com/2cj6yx

This item has been removed four times now with no apparent reasoning behind it. Ebay claims this item enables members to duplicate copy-protected material. This is basically true of more items than I think ebay cares to take note of. Shall we start a list: VCR's, DVD Recorders, Computers, Paper and Pencil (thanks Albert) to name a few. So I've relisted this item and I'm keeping tabs on it, like a mini diary in case you're interested.

I have yet to receive an email that answers my questions sent to customer service, which I'm not sure is actually manned by humans at this point. I asked why they did this and kind of let them have it a bit, I wasn't very happy.

If anyone can explain why they think this auction is being removed over and over while other members enjoy the benefit of listing this perfectly harmless item, please let me know.

Maybe because the Super Mario Bros. Deluxe instructions do not match the Dr. Mario game......

Dr. Mario game w/ instructions

Just kidding around, I really have no idea why they are kicking it off but I'm sure there is a valid reason in their rules because of course ebay loses money everytime they give an auction the boot. The best advice I would give is to come up with a Buy It Now price and sell it before they kick it off again. I actually sold a 76-in-1 NES cartridge Buy It Now and even after it ended and the person paid, ebay still kicked a day or two later and refunded all of my fees associated with selling it. Whatever you do, I hope you get this figured out. :)

Now someone who knows what they are talking about can perhaps tell us why.

Yet another example of how ridiculous eBay has become. The only thing I can see is perhaps the blank "smart card" that you're including with the system. Maybe they think you're selling the system "ready to pirate" games because of the card. It's wonderful when eBay cancels auctions without even giving you a specific reason about wht is wrong with the auction and how exactly it violates their rules.

You are risking having eBay suspend your account because you keep relisting a pulled auction.

I think that part of the problem is that you use the term "modified" in your auction. I believe that every Nintendo auction that uses the term modified is red flagged.

There are a couple of other problems as well. You have listed other web sites on your auction page which is a violation of eBay rules.

The "smart card" and picture of the CD might also be causing you problems.

If you want to continue to try to sell this you might want to try offering it for sale on AtariAge or DP. If this doesn't work I would try selling it under a different eBay account or with a buy it now.

Thanks, mcgrail0007. You are the first person to give me a few legitimate reasons. I think the point has simply become that eBay is run by impersonal machines. What I really want is for them to answer my emails and say, this is not allowed here and this is not allowed here for these reasons. If they can't talk to me as a customer then what have I become to them? I'm sure they could care less if I get booted from their "circle" which I don't even think I would want to be a part of at this point anyway. I'll try taking off some of the things you and Albert have suggested. It seems that the auction has survived the night and I have no emails from them, I wonder what tiny, little, dusty cogs started squeakily spinning in their automaton heads or if they even noticed I re-listed it.

Pretty much any video game entry that has the word "modded" can get flagged. I occassionally sell A/V, s-video, etc., modded systems & frequently get a VERO warning before submitting the listing.

Here is the main reason. You are selling Nintendo stuff. And the Nintendo people are super strict when it comes to copyright infringement of the smallest degree. If it was anything else you would stand a much higher chance of getting away with it. It seems that 95 percent of the auctions I see pulled have something to do with Nintendo to one degree or another.

Nintendo? It's a legit Nintendo product. I'm not going to get much for the GBA and game by itself so I put it up with the GP32 hoping to kill two birds with one stone. I don't see what they would have an issue with me selling one of these systems and one game. Not like I'm cutting into their profit margin.

They've done the same thing to me. I'd see illegal GBA multicarts for sale all the time on ebay and I've sold Famicom multicarts and vectrex multicarts but if I try to list a CV multicart it gets yanked immediately.

CV Multicarts? Why would they target those specifically, do you think it's a person trying to get more for their auction?

In case anyone is wondering I'm including the SmartCard 128MB on this auction as well as a CD loaded with Emulators, roughly 40 games and other misc.

I don't know. It doesn't stay up for even 24 hours. They'll say it's a copyright violation but when I point out to them that all those GBA,Famicom, Vectrex and other multicarts are a violation too they have no response.

They are all a violation but it's really hit and miss as far as what they end up nailing. If one particular auction consistently gets shut down it's probably one of two things: Either there is a word (or words) in the auction causing the auction to get flagged or someone is reporting the auction.
