I have a problem with shipping my X man on Ebay and could use advice

Recommended Posts

Hello eveyone, I'm not the most experienced Ebay seller and I think I ran into a slight problem with my X man I have for sale currently. For shipping I put international bidders contact me first and then just put a flat rate of 5 bucks to the US. I generally don't ship overseas but since this game is PAL it sounded like a good idea to. I'm getting messages that international bidders are being blocked from bidding because of this. Anyone know if there is anything I can do about this? Since there is a bid they won't let me change shipping options, I don't really want to pull the item since I already did once (had it in a lot and I changed my mind about selling the other items) What should I do here, I'll pull it if I have to but I don't want people to think there is something weird about it, I always find it strange when I see an item on Ebay several times in a row. I guess I could explain it all in the discription? Any help on this would be totally cool guys, Thanks you :)

eBay allows sellers to cancel bids. I haven't looked into this myself, but perhaps you would be allowed to modify the auction after canceling the one existing bid? If so, be sure to buzz the bidder with a friendly line explaining why the bid was canceled and encouraging them to bid again.

I was looking in to that and I noticed something strange, the bidder (thwocker) is from the Neatherlands, if he can bid then other over seas bidders should be OK right? I had 2 people contact me from Germany and say they couldn't bid though, this is confussing. It looks like the only legitimate reasons Ebay allows to cancel a bid kind of make the buyer look bad so I don't really want to make anyone mad at me so I don't think I'll do that to them (plus they are bidding on some of my other stuff :) ) Thanks for the idea though :)

I'd say definately cancel and relist the auction correctly. Just send Twocker an email with the new auction info and explain in the description why tiy relisted it.

Kinda one of those situations where if it makes sense, no one will red flag it in their minds. I've had to do that stuff before, everything from deadbeat nonpaying bidders, to somehow transposing the description and the title to where they didn't match in the listing and not noticing it for a few days (using turbolister-- still not sure it was my fault. lol :) )

Anyway, better to be safe than sorry. I'd vote to kill the current listing and relist it, maybe with a shorter auction time if you're concerned about it selling soon.

Is there maybe something the guys from Germany are doing wrong? It just seems strange to me that a guy from the Neatherlands can bid on it but they can't? Any ideas :?

I only have a vague idea about this, but I seem to recall recently reading how Germany is getting pretty strict about selling what would be considered mature rated video games (granted, the standards have shifted over the years), banning certain games (usually based on violent content), and otherwise moving to more strongly regulate the video game industry in the country. This may be an issue with eBay.de which would explain why the Netherlands guy is able to bid but the Germans aren't. (I'm sure there's a joke about porn in all of this. ;) )

Amazing i was actually thinking the same thing.........I say just leave the auction the way it is because i have a strange feeling that Germany is one of those places where it is illegal to receive Adult Related entertainment. That said u may even get yourself in some trouble shipping there if its not allowed in that region. I know for sure its allowed in the Netherlands

I thought Thwocker was Marco, but I wasn't sure :)

The guy who said he wasn't able to bid says he is able to now he just thought he wasn't able to :? His english also isn't the best so I may have mis understood something along the way. The other guy actually never tried to bid he just assumed he wasn't able to so that may have something to do with the porn thing? Who knows. I think I'm just going to let it ride, thanks for all the advice guys :) If any of you are ever around he MN area let me know...I owe you a beer :) :)
