slosu #1 Posted February 27, 2007 (edited) Originaly this post started off by talking about the rarity of the game Halloween but it has turned into who holds the highest score. I myself can barely bust a 100,000 and I thought I was the pro. Snider-man freakin' rules with 2,446,650 points! Dude, are you kidding me.....that is just sick! If you played this game you know how difficult it can be. I'm curious to know how others have done on this game and what other high scores are out there. I know one thing for sure..... my 100,000 don't mean sh!t. Edited April 2, 2007 by slosu
ewing92 #2 Posted February 27, 2007 it's not about the game being fun or anything, i mean, lookat it's brother, the texas chainsaw massacre, that game is horrible, it's about collecting, and the game is hard to find(rare) so we need to pay big bucks for it on ebay to have in our collection, that is why. Being both, I am in a-double no-win situation. I paid too much a while back and got a copy that I fear is not genuine and displays badly. I suppose that makes me a grade A sucker. The MilkMan #7 Posted February 28, 2007 Being both, I am in a-double no-win situation. Same here! I must not be a "collector" though. I have niether and I'm not going to pay that kind of cash. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of both movies, and would love to have them, but I'll have to wait till the day I might find them in the wild.

I suppose that makes me a grade A sucker. (the music is still cool for Halloween though.) Did you get it off of ebay? If so, who was the seller? I got it in a 4 cart lot with 3 commons for around 70 bucks. It was not even advertised as Halloween. This lead me to believe that the seller had no idea what they had, and I do not hold them responsible as such. I think they were mainly estate sale scavenger types with no knowledge of the "value" of what they had. I have recently found an old thread that mentions the static ghost blocks in the display, so maybe it is legit, and just from a bad batch. The thing that made me think it was a copy was the label that looked slightly crooked and not very well cut. I have no reason to believe that this person knowingly sold a fake, though, and I still like the game.

I suppose that makes me a grade A sucker. (the music is still cool for Halloween though.) I hope the cart you have is legit, I do agree that the music is great. How does one tell the difference between a genuine cart or a repro one. You would think all it would take is one look at the chip and one would know. I could be wrong on that, I'm no expert. What should you be looking for when trying to tell the difference between the two.

(the music is still cool for Halloween though.) Texas Chainsaw Massacre? A genuine cart displays 267 scanlines showing the title...then gets bumped down to 260 in-game. This would cause the display to jump at least when it's switching...and possibly a continuous roll while the title is shown.

Rik #15 Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) I've seen this game pop up on ebay from time to time and it kills me for what it is going for these days. I can remember about seven or eight years ago you could snag a loose one easily for $40.00 to $50.00. Now you're lucky to see decent one go loose for under $100.00. I guess it shows how times have changed. What is it that has made this game so popular? Why is everyone willing to shell out big $$$ for a game that is average at best? Don't get me wrong, I understand the rarity. But it's still just a game. I guess I'm lucky to have bought mine when I did. Horror themed games are HIGHLY sought after for all console game systems, especially the movie ones, the popularity and fan base for the movie translates to the games as well, even MOVIE buffs get the games for that reason only, and arent even gamers, and dont even own the console to play the game on,ive seen that quite a few times as well, hoping to sell them later on for ridiculous prices,or to just keep them to add to their movie memorabilia collection. Already broke a milllion and will gain the world record, you are a nice guy I met you before but this is my Territory and you will go down. I am not to be taken lightly and I don't like to lose, we will be Introduced and annouced. I will see you there One Life most points in 10 mins. Good luck and be ready cause this match for me is about earning respect, not just a win or accoplishment or to just beat you, that is too common for me. In fact you did call me out. I will see you In July at the CGE. In closing may the best man win.
slosu #17 Posted March 8, 2007 I consider Halloween a must have in anyone's collection, I'm sure all of you would agree. I think rarity wise it's a 7+. Does this number ever change? I mean you see less and less of the on ebay and chances are finding one in the wild is like finding a needle in a hay stack. Just about everyone that has this in their collection most likely is not willing to part with it. When does this game become more rare, or doesn't it? Snider-man #19 Posted March 31, 2007 Already broke a milllion... You did? Well, congrats! That would make you only the second person to do so. Not that I'm doubting your word, but you should really document this achievement and have it posted to Twin Galaxies. Granted, I'm still twice that, but you have really hammered yourself into the Second Place positions by many hundreds of thousands of points. I would think you'd want that posted. Oh, and if you HAVE broken 1,000,000, then you know the score rolls at 999,999. However, so the player knows he's broken 1,000,000, the programmers installed a nifty visual cue to let you know the score has rolled. You should be able to easily tell me what changes on-screen to mark the 1,000,000-point level. Good luck and be ready cause this match for me is about earning respect, Actually, for me it's just to have fun playing a game I enjoy with someone who claims to be as good as I am. I did the same this with Stan Jr. and a game of Entombed several years ago. Trashed talked him for months. Had my ass handed to me. Respect? Notarity? Means nada to me. In closing may the best man win. Thanks.. I plan to. And just post the 1,000,000+ visual cue when you get the chance - just so I know you're serious. And, if you're so inclined, be sure to post what the 2,000,000-point cue is - when you get there. You see, I've seen that too.
slosu #20 Posted March 31, 2007 Dude, you are the KING for scoring 1,000,000 on Halloween. I can't even break 100,000! For me the game gets out of control after leveling up after a while to the point whenever you see Myers it's an automatic death. Hats off to you! Snider-man #22 Posted April 1, 2007 Dude, you are the KING for scoring 1,000,000 on Halloween. It's actually 2,446,650, but thanks for the kudos! Actually, once Mike's speed maxes out, it don't get any faster. You just gotta make sure not to make any mistakes from that point on. But his speed maxes out around the 100,000 point mark, so if you can just learn his patterns and behaviors at that point, it's a matter of predicting where he'll turn up and avoiding those areas. And since the second-place record on TG is 145,800, I figured rjchamp has it locked and in the bag - if he ever turns in his self-proclaimed record of his 1,000,000+ run.
