Crazy Climber #1 Posted February 28, 2007 (edited) Hello I recently sold a copy of Beggar prince on Ebay and received the following message..I'm assuming it is from one of the staff or programmers.... Here, I'd hoped our customers were buying Beggar Prince to play and enjoy it, not to re-sell it. You unfortunately also lost $2 on the sale, it seems. I would like to apologize to the Super Fighter Team (creators of Beggar Prince) I was un aware that this game is still in production. I thought I remembered something about only 600 copys availible but I was wrong. I realize it is rude to re sell a game that is still availible for purchase from the creators and I had no intention of taking any of your buisness away. I really did not intend on making a profit on this. I have owned it for a while now and just couldn't find the time to play it and I have been reducing my collection recently (getting married soon) and decided to sell it. I have contacted the buyer and let him know that it is availible at your website and I will not be selling him my copy www.beggarprince.com I hope there are no hard feelings over this as I do intend on purchasing future releases from the Super Fighter Team. You guys can ask anyone here that I am not a re seller, just a collector that buys a lot of stuff and sells it to make room for more from time to time. Sorry guys, won't happen again. Albert #2 Posted February 28, 2007 I don't see why you need to apologize. You bought a copy of the game and then you decided to sell some of your collection, including this game. I don't feel you should have to "hold back" on selling the game because the original creators may still be producing it. People often sell on eBay and through other sites (including here!) the homebrew games I sell via the AtariAge Store and that doesn't bother me one bit. You weren't trying to profiteer and I don't think you should have to feel any remorse in selling your copy of Beggar Prince on eBay. ..Al
Crazy Climber #3 Posted February 28, 2007 When you put it that way I don't feel as bad. The message the guy sent me made me feel like I totally shouldn't have sold it. I know homebrew companies don't make a lot of money and the last thing I wanted to do was make anyone mad (especially a company that makes nice games that I plan on purchasing from in the future) but I knew this game was going to take a lot more time to play then I would be able to dedicate to it. I already contacted the buyer but he's a member here so I don't think there will be any hard feelings.
decypher #4 Posted February 28, 2007 If no one bought and sold games then this hobby would not exist. All the games i have would be in someones grandparents house collecting dust till they were put in a land fill. Games were ment to be enjoyed. If you didnt have time to play and enjoy the game why shouldnt someone else have a chance. As far as the buyer, I know the guy and he is SUPER cool so everything will be AOK. Crazy Climber #5 Posted February 28, 2007 You guys are right, I really did nothing wrong here. I take back my apology
Markimus of K. #6 Posted February 28, 2007 I'm surprised they sent you that message if you are not a reseller, Wow. And even if you were, if you bought it from them fair and square, is it not yours to do with whatever you want? I remember reading about it here on AA when it was released and the reviews didn't seem to justify the premium price... ie: $60USD for a remake (or translation?) of a really old mediorcre game. Before anyone jumps all over me, this is the impression I got from reading the reviews, and this was linked from the "Official" page. Hint: if you are going to link to a review of your new game, please read it first... Crazy Climber is well within his rights to sell it and the Team (read: the person) that chastised him for it should just stop harassing people and make a better game. Or just shut the Hell up. n8littlefield #7 Posted February 28, 2007 I have to say - that's a ridiculous thing for them to do. They have absolutely no right to tell you what you can and can't do with the game after playing it or deciding to get rid of it. Quite frankly, I think they owe YOU an apology. Trooper #8 Posted March 1, 2007 You bought the game, you can play it, sell it or smoke it. Hell I suspect you paid for it right? /T
ManShowBoy #9 Posted March 1, 2007 (edited) Dude, stop acting like a wuss You don't need to apoligize, you bought it then sold it and you didn't even make a profit. So whats wrong here? Edited March 1, 2007 by ManShowBoy
gdement #10 Posted March 1, 2007 Doesn't even matter if he did make a profit. Whoever wrote that message just sounds like an anti-capitalist crybaby. Maybe the game isn't selling well anymore and he's getting frustrated. That's not your problem - you're a customer not a business partner.
Crazy Climber #11 Posted March 1, 2007 Dude, stop acting like a wuss You don't need to apoligize, you bought it then sold it and you didn't even make a profit. So whats wrong here? Yeah I took back my apology in post #5 I think I just over reacted. I was just worried they wouldn't sell me any more games or something and I just didn't want to make any enemies. I contacted the buyer, luckily he was cool and understood my over reaction to the incident so he will stll be purchasing it. The guy from the Super Fighter Team contacted me again and also said something to the effect of it not being a big deal to him (although I stll suspect it was) The last thing I want is to be thought of as a re seller that sells items to make a profit. It's just not me. I just thought this would make me look like that.
