Water-cooled Xbox 360= Awesome!

Recommended Posts

Old news. There are a lot of 360 water-cooling mods. Koolance even offers an Exos system for 360 now:

$289.99 Ouch...... :?

No kidding. It would be a lot cheaper to just open up the 360, find out what clips fit it, buy some water blocks and do it yourself using a PC water cooler and getting a molex split, one going to the hard drive, and the other end going to the water cooler.

No need to split. You can just chain them. The water is only a few degrees warmer when it reaches the last component then it is when it reaches the first component. It still has plenty of capacity to absorb heat. Considering the price of the exos system it is a good deal with the blocks (compared to buying the exos system and blocks separately.) The blocks themselves are the blocks people will generally use. Koolance makes excellent water-blocks and most 360 water-cooling mods use them. I have been using Koolance water-blocks for a few years (not on the 360) and am very satisfied with the performance. I will admit that this is an expensive system compared to a system you can build yourself. Regardless, I think water-cooling a 360 is pointless. The system should be able to handle the heat it generates by design.

It SHOULD, but it doesn't.

My day one 360 has never overheated. Maybe it is because I keep the machine and the power supply in an open space and off the carpet as the instruction manual says.
