I just bought an obese ds

I seriously am sick of sending back my lite so I went to gamestop and ought a used regular ds for 80 dollars. Anyone else's ds lites keep breaking?

the lite is prone to breaking? how so? Iv'e been wanting to get one....

But seriously, is the original model DS that "chunky", like the original Gameboy kind of "chunky"?

My original DS has the same thing but it's a row of pixels on the top screen. Just like you said though, I only notice it when the screen is black and it's still not that big of a deal, not to me at least. I bought it on launch day so I didn't want to bother trying to return it since they were sold out everywhere.

The Lite also has different button construction(it doesn't use the GBASP-style flat buttons), moves start and select, and has brighter screens.

No. The chubby DS's screen is comparable to an original SP (some say it is brighter but I disagree), while the DS Lite has a screen much like the SP2.

Actually, the original DS screen was backlit. Just not as brightly as the SP2.

 

So it's not exactly supernova bright, but you won't get the irregularities of the SP's festering pile.

thats both unfortunate and completely bizarre.. ive NEVER seen that in ANY handheld before, none the less a nintendo one. im really sorry for you, did they send you a new ds>? even if its out of warrantee nintendo is really good about just giving you a new one anyway , they did it for my cube when it started freezing in metroid.
