+SpiceWare #1 Posted March 9, 2007 (edited) I now have 2 videos of Medieval Mayhem in action: 3 round video 7:40 long, 17.2 MB 1 round video 1:17 long, 3.2 MB Please note that the video capture software made the paddle readings jittery. Recording at 30 fps makes the fireball flare-ups look a bit odd and sometimes the destroyed brick flashes won't show up. Albert #2 Posted March 9, 2007 I made a 7:40 long video(17 MB) of Medieval Mayhem. Please note that the video capture software made the paddle readings jittery, and the fireball flare-ups look a bit odd due to only capturing 30 fps. Downloading now.. If you can pare this video down to a more manageable length (say, a minute?), I can stick it on AtariAge and add it to the store so people can view the video before buying the game. I can also add the video to the database (which I just added Medieval Mayhem to today (yes, I know the ROM isn't up there yet..)) I'd love to have videos of all the games in the store, and it'd be great to have videos of all the games in the database, but that would be a huge amount of work.. ..Al
Gregory DG #3 Posted March 9, 2007 Hmmm... Too bad someone couldn't write a Java emulator for the 2600 (or other systems.) I know there's legal reasons that won't happen, but what if user input was limited to just the Start and Select buttons? Then visitors could get an idea of what the game looked like without all the work of making videos.

+SpiceWare #7 Posted March 9, 2007 Downloading now.. If you can pare this video down to a more manageable length (say, a minute?) Sure - I'll see what I can do. I have some learning to do though first though - last night I tried to save the video with different settings to save room. As expected, the quality wasn't that great, but the file ballooned to 88 MB I may just make a new recording w/1 round to win and quickly kill of another player and myself. Cool video tho! I'm not that familiar with the different formats and QT seems to have the best results on my Mac.

I did all of the videos for these reviews, and spent a fair chunk of time working out the settings that gave a reasonable mix of quality and download time. tcv #12 Posted March 10, 2007 Sorry guys, I have very limited knowledge of Atari games so what I am about to say may sound stupid. What is this game? A homebrew? FWIW: It looks awesome and sounds great. It's amazing what the 2600 can do.

FWIW: It looks awesome and sounds great. It's amazing what the 2600 can do. Yes it is a homebrew. It's available in the Atari Age Store. Medieval Meyhem. If you like Warlords, you need to own this game. I bought it after Christmas and I have now retired my Warlords cart.
+SpiceWare #14 Posted March 11, 2007 What is this game? A homebrew? Yep - I started writing it about a year ago. If you're interested you can see it's development history in my blog and in this homebrew forum thread. FWIW: It looks awesome and sounds great. It's amazing what the 2600 can do. Thanks! I figured out how to draw the dragon while playing Dolphin in the HSC. Espire8 did most of the graphics as well as the label and manual. Moderntimes99 did the title screen music, I came up with all the in-game sound effects. I've started work on my 2nd homebrew this weekend, though it's still in the planning stage with nothing to show yet.
