Niiiice.... Someone should mod it and put a working Falcon in it! (It is just the shell, right?)

I was just thinking that. But would a standard Falcon board fit in this? You'd also need an external keyboard of some sort.

If someone were creative - they could cut a falcon in 1/2, stack it and wire it together inside. Doing an Atari to PC keyboard interface is very easy to accomplish...

Perhaps one should buy it and shove a PS2 in there? ;) :)

Hmmm, what about a Falcon in a re-done PS2 case?

No way. I wouldn't ruin a perfectly good Falcon for that!

I remember an article in a UK magazine about modifying a Falcon030 into a case very similar to that, it even includes a case for the keyboard with an attached cord. the one they built was shown working at the end of the article. It was most likely ST FORMAT or ST USER magazine but I'm not sure, I may even still have it :?

I just saw this on wikipedia while researching the Falcon030.

"Apparently, Atari created a number of prototypes of the Falcon040 (based on the more capable deep-pipeline, FPU-including, Motorola 68040, and using a "microbox" case), but cancelled it in order to focus developers on the Atari Jaguar. Interestingly the microbox case designed by Atari looks a lot like the Sony PS2, right down to the ability to run it vertically or horizontally. It is even referenced in the PS2 patent applications."

Have you ever heard anything about this so called Falcon040 Curt?

You should visit atarimuseum.com more often and have a look around -

Under Atari Computers ---> Atari ST/TT/Falcon ---> Atari Falcon you'll find the Atari Falcon page, go to the bottom and you'll see photo's of the Falcon040 prototype board, here is a direct link:

Did they ever make any functional 040's or did it never get that far in the design process?
