Cobra Commander #1 Posted March 15, 2007 Have any of you ever donated games to a thrift store?
Giltygear #2 Posted March 15, 2007 (edited) I am extremely selfish, a horrible person, and somewhat of a packrat... so no... Edited March 15, 2007 by Giltygear

Scumdogg #4 Posted March 15, 2007 And risk them getting dumpstered by some old lady who doesn't know what they are? Hell no, better to save them for friends and the children of friends, if you're going to just give them away.
shadow460 #5 Posted March 15, 2007 My games will get passed on to my daughter, or, if I make it until I'm old and gray, to my grandkids.
Chickybaby #6 Posted March 15, 2007 We've given games away if it's someone just starting out and really nice or to a kid and we had duplicate commons but not to a thrift and not really rare ones generally.
Video #7 Posted March 15, 2007 I've given games and systems to people, but never to a thrift that may just throw it away due to lack of knowledge.
Technosis #8 Posted March 16, 2007 I've given games and systems to people, but never to a thrift that may just throw it away due to lack of knowledge. ditto...including some modern consoles to a family shelter...but no thrifts since I didn't want to contribute to the "employee skimming" that is common here. jboypacman #9 Posted March 16, 2007 It is better to give to thoses of us that might need a extra copy of something we might to help with there collection than to waste our games by dumping them at a thrift store.Am not at the point were i have dups of anything other than E.T. and Pac-Man but when i do i will be more than glad to help out a collector thats just getting started, thats for sure . sega2006 #10 Posted March 22, 2007 I remember getting a tape from a Charity shop, being told that it was a tape that exsplained the rules of chess (I wasnt that old at the time), I stuck it in a tape player and got a Tape loading Signal that would be better suited to my ZX spectrum than my ears. Tape and Jewel case CD games are always getting mistaken for music. Carts arent so bad although 98% the carts wont work

sega2006 #13 Posted March 23, 2007 They know a Cartridge is a Game, but 98% the cart will not work for some reason. Is that Understandable?
+FujiSkunk #14 Posted March 23, 2007 Never have, never will, although I do regularly donate other things to thrift stores, and I have donated an Atari and a nice assortment of games to my church. Call me elitist, but I like to make sure whoever gets my games will enjoy them and take care of them as much as I do.
Video #15 Posted March 23, 2007 They know a Cartridge is a Game, but 98% the cart will not work for some reason. Is that Understandable? Wow, they must have hadall their shit donated to them by some people who just wanted to get rid of non working stuff :\ Even finicky systems aren't that bad... sega2006 #17 Posted March 25, 2007 They know a Cartridge is a Game, but 98% the cart will not work for some reason. Is that Understandable? Wow, they must have hadall their shit donated to them by some people who just wanted to get rid of non working stuff :\ Even finicky systems aren't that bad... What it tends to be is parents clearing out their Kids stuff that they left behind. Some carts will work but its very rare as most people will take known working ones to either of the 2 Stores around here that give good money for older games. I make an example of my copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 1. Systems dont usaully turn up but when they do they are tested before they are sold, and at that its often rather dog eared examples as people again will take it to the stores that will give good money. And also by test the machine I mean just plug it in at the wall, somthing that GS didnt do when they sold us a SMS once.
