The MilkMan #1 Posted March 16, 2007 Just wanted to share a personal collecting accomplishment. Other than a few must have titles (from ebay), my collection is entirely finds from the wild or gifts. Needless to say, I think my rarest game was a R5. The rest, a slew of R1-4s. Went into a pawn shop looking for a effect pedal for my guitar, found nothing. So decided to browse the store. Saw a box of Atari carts. Picked thru what I needed and left the rest (common stuff). Walked away with these for $10 bucks. Up N Down, my first R7!!!! candiru #4 Posted March 16, 2007 Awesome haul for $10 bucks! Must not be many collectors that go there, or else you just had perfect timing. I've never found anything older than NES in a pawnshop.
Gregory DG #5 Posted March 16, 2007 Nice find for $10. Tapper is awesome.
The MilkMan #6 Posted March 16, 2007 Yeah I dont know, I've never really gone there searching for games. Guess I should start. Tapper was on top of the box. I was so excited when I saw that! I've always wanted to have/play that one. The others were just added bonus. I got these during my lunch break, now I have to wait to get home to play 'em! Right now, I'm coasting on that proverbial "collecting high"
Crazy Climber #7 Posted March 16, 2007 Killer find for 10 bucks I would say the up n Down is more like an r8 with a label that nice, they almost always suck (heavy glue bleed through) same deal with Tapper. Finding them in that great of condition is rare let alone at 10 bucks, way to go man
codyr783 #8 Posted March 16, 2007 Congratulations. My rarest is only Tax Avoiders with an R5.You lucky bastard!
A.J. Franzman #9 Posted March 16, 2007 Great find! Now go print yourself a replacement for Infiltrate's missing end label: The 2600 Label Thread, post #

ewing92 #11 Posted March 16, 2007 great find, my only rare 4 i own is Pitfall!II, lol, everything else is rarity 1-3, yeah, i havent really delved into atari collecting much yet.
Atarimania75 #12 Posted March 16, 2007 great find, my only rare 4 i own is Pitfall!II, lol, everything else is rarity 1-3, yeah, i havent really delved into atari collecting much yet. Sounds like u may be someone who is just in it for the fun of the games with a game like Pitfall II. Thats how i came back to the Atari scene. Back then i was proud to find a Snoopy, a Pitfall II and a Frogger II. I was so proud of just those.......then when u get a hold of some rarity of 8's and 9's your like damn Frogger II so easy to find! If u are looking for the more fun rare games i would say Frogger II is a good one, Montezuma's Revenge, Mr Do's Castle, and then if u want to burn some many on some extreme rares that are actually fun in my opinion Cakewalk and Stronghold are two fun ones to play! Yeah, ive only had an atari since last summer and have like 40 games, just the big games really, like PitfallII, Space Invaders, etc. Right now, it is just more of the fun of the games, but soon i will start to accually start looking for rare stuff, and really get my collection going. Lol, and a funny thing about Montezuma's Revenge, I think it means like when you got the shits lol, because my spanish teacher was talking about food in spain and he said that american ppl who are not use to this one stuff should stay away from it or they will get montezuma's revenge, then he explined what he meant, and lol, i guarantee that i was the only person in the class that thought of an atari 2600 cartridge. plaidbrad3141 #14 Posted March 17, 2007 Good score. I still need Racquetball. Last time I saw it in the wild it was a bare beat up cart for $10 alone. Pass.
Atarimania75 #15 Posted March 17, 2007 Good score. I still need Racquetball. Last time I saw it in the wild it was a bare beat up cart for $10 alone. Pass. You can find Racquetball for pretty cheap i have found quite a few around!

I noticed the end label on INFILTRATE is missing, what is it with those carts,I've never seen one with the end label still on,bought mine new off store shelf, label fell off years ago, glued it back on,and it fell off again, that time i lost it. shadow460 #17 Posted March 17, 2007 Got my first R7 in 1984, and I still have it today. It's Party Mix. I have games that are that rare on other systems, but Party Mix is the rarest 2600 game I currently own.
Dusk2600 #18 Posted March 17, 2007 3 sega bally midway carts in 1 area is super rare especially in the wild, they look to be in great shape, congrats
ozzie_owl #19 Posted March 17, 2007 Sweet find, some good carts there. Up N Down is the only rare game i own, cost me $45 plus $10 shipping so you got massive bargain.
PressureCooker2600 #20 Posted March 17, 2007 i always wanted to play Up 'N Down. And I heard Spy Hunter is one of the best ports of that game. I know the NES version sucks balls. My rarest Atari game is Tapper. You found that one too. It's a helluva lot harder than the arcade Tapper, thats for sure.
Dusk2600 #21 Posted March 17, 2007 i got my up n down for 8.00 but the label is beyond hammered.
Deadman #22 Posted March 21, 2007 That really is a great find. As was stated earlier, I never have that kind of luck around my area with pawn or thrift stores. Occasionally I'll find Nintendo 64 or Sega Genesis games, but they are always baseball or football games, so I pass. I've accumulated quite a few rares over the last few years of "active" collecting, but they've all come in large lots from ebay, so the pricing is usually $1 - $2 each. By the way, this is my first post after 2+ years of lurking....
kyle #23 Posted March 21, 2007 Finding Tapper, Sky Hunter and Up and Down all at once is pretty awesome!
A.J. Franzman #24 Posted March 22, 2007 (edited) Finding Tapper, S[p]y Hunter and Up and Down all at once is pretty awesome! Yes, it is! {The Official "Thrift finds" Thread, post #2658} Unfortunately, that Tapper turned out to be dead. But since I already had one, not too serious a loss. I only wish I had thought to swap some cases around before I gave away the dead one -- I hate Sega's "grip" cases. Edited March 22, 2007 by A.J. Deteacher #25 Posted March 22, 2007 Congrats on the score! I'm jealous! My rarest titles in my collection are both R6's: Subterennea and River Raid II. This spring is a whole new season at the fleas. Here's hoping they uncovered some gems this past winter to sell for next to nothing. MUHAHAHAHAHAAAA.
